Friends I never stopped reviewing movies, just posted a movie review a few days ago. I just took the makeup part away but that was about a year ago now. Don’t panic!
We're also so not okay.
Can I just say you have inspired me … do something and I really am not just gonna go for it!! Love your content
You're a genius. I'm sure other youtubers will be copying you soon. I'm offended by your character, (i hope her name was spelled) Tammy. lol xox Tami!
I love your content no matter what style or approach you take ❤
Do what makes YOU happy! Your content is enjoyed no matter what you post.
I feel like a Tammy meets Tammy collab is much needed. The possibilities are endless.
Yesss!!!
Was just going to say the same thing.
That would be hilarious!!
🙋♀️ I agree!!!!
I agree! I’ve been wishing for a “Tammy and Tammy went to a family reunion” type of thing. The fact they’re both Tammy makes it even funnier since I genuinely know two separate families that each have multiple “Tammies” in them and the trailer trash stereotype is most definitely representative in each 😂
One time, in middle school, my parents got me a t-shirt from Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland from Hot Topic. My friends also shopped at Hot Topic. When I wore that shirt and my friend wore that shirt on the same day, she accused me of copying her. I remember all my friends bullying me so much I went home and cried all night. My mom was so frustrated that I was upset and finally said something along the lines of, “She is so stupid, that shirt has been mass produced to like millions of people, it’s ridiculous to think that they’re all copying her!” The logic was so sound, I roll my eyes every time I hear people accuse each other of copying.
Awe good mama
@@kaywee4200😂😂 was going to say the exact same thing! Good mama!!
If I was that friend, I would’ve felt happy about wearing the same thing as someone else. I’ve seen strangers having the same clothes or backpack as me a few times and got excited that I was “twinning” with someone.
@@rosasunsprite8901oh I get so excited haha
Anyone else read that like "ONE TIME, IN BAND CAMP...." or nah?
I think the fact that you guys both named your character Tammy, just proves that neither of you guys copied each other.
My mom is a Tammy and I can confirm she matches all three of the Tammys (Tammy Sammich, Trailerpark Tammy, and Melissa McCarthy Tammy). But in a "I love my mom" way.
It's like convergent evolution. The dolphin and the ichthyosaur. Beautiful.
JK Rowling was famously accused of stealing the idea for Harry Potter from Neil Gaiman. There was an owl pet, a boy with glasses and a forehead scar, and a few other things that were just kind of superficial details. Gaiman clapped back immediately and said that a talented author like JK Rowling would definitely have changed all of those details if she was some nefarious thief, and he reiterated that the hero's journey is not unique to him. (I do not support JK Rowling, this just made me think of that.)
@@horrormoviereactionswhy don’t you support her? Because she speaks facts?
“Those who do not want to imitate anything, produce nothing.”~ Dalí
When i was in 6th grade I idolized this 7th grace girl who was a cheerleader. She also wore headgear with her braces. She rocked that headgear and I wanted one so bad too! Lol
Good old Sal. 😂 seriously, people need to get a life or at least a hobby. ✌🏽🫶🏼🤘🏽
A big part of the problem is that literal children make up most of these audiences. These are teenagers who don’t know anything. They don’t have critical thinking skills, so they hear “thing bad” and run with it, harming people while feeling justified.
I think it's even more hilarious that these kids weren't around in the glorious OC infested DeviantArt days and they're literally reinventing it today
You may have a point there
@@anceptus OMG IT WAS SO BAD
As a teenager even I'm not this bad, yeah I might be a metalhead but Jesus christ

Whoever is complaining about you copying another trailer park Tammy really tells me they’ve never met multiple trailer park Tammy’s 😂😂😂
RIGHT? I've met sooo many and they are actually named Tammy in real life and everything.
No lies here, every trailer park has a Tammy
@@annaabney1420SAME
😂😂😂 right
HAHAHAHA. True that.
I got accused by another creator of stealing “her” dry pressing technique (for eyeshadows). A technique that’s not hers to begin with, as it is an industry standard technique, that a brand shared with her, and CZcams has tutorials sharing it, 10 years before she even shared it. She sent one of her friends (another creator) to speak to me and demand I gave her credit, when I didn’t learn it from her.
People appropriating things as their own and then acting like they’re trademarks is just pure insanity and narcissistic. I have never subscribed to the idea of having such a huge ego, that I claim ownership of ideas and demand everyone in the world to give me credit.
Damn. And wtffff that last part about people re-uploading your videos and then getting your originals removed/demonetized is actual INSANITY. Thank you for hanging in there and still doing what you love. We love you!!!💛💛💛
Now THAT’s theft! For real
My English literature mentor in college told us that no one would have written anything if they were worried about having the same idea as another. It’s literally impossible. people think of the same thing every day. The key is to make it your own which you’ve done.
Totally agree with this! Not to mention that that internet is accessible by billions of people, and many of them share their ideas online. It’s impossible to all be original!
Same with art. Everyone copies everyone when it comes to art, you just push it further, make it your own and in many cases, better. It’s human evolution!
Edited to add that I commented this before getting to the part where she talks about Picasso and his quote. 😂
@@AE-km1gz exactly! People have been doing this since the beginning of Time and in many different mediums! I guess we should be mad that they started mass producing tires because they don’t give credit to the random dude who started it all In Mesopotamia
Shakespeare stole almost everything! Lol
It’s “literally” impossible!! - This made me chuckle!
(I also agree entirely!)
I write fanfiction, and a few years back I wrote a story that had a really cute way for one of the characters to give the other character their phone number. Someone else was working on her own story and had the same idea with a similar premise. She'd already written the scene, but hadn't posted it yet because she waits till she's finished, whereas I post things a chapter at a time. She was following along with mine and saw the scene and left a comment lamenting that I got to it first, and she'd make sure to change her story so no one would accuse her of stealing. I replied, absolutely not. Keep the scene, and if anyone gives you shit, link them to this conversion. I won't put up with anyone using me to bully her. Because I am the one with the bigger audience, so like you said, the louder voice. But no. Two people can have the same idea, but it still gets executed by each creator in a different way, it's NOT copying. She finished her story, and it was 99% different than mine, and fucking amazing. I'm so glad she kept the scene, cuz it WAS different. It's also one of my favorite stories in that fandom. I get really mad about this subject, and I'm glad you made a video about it.
I've had something similar happen to me. I was designing a sweater with stripey sleeves and clouds on the front and back. I order samples of most pieces first. A competing shop in my niche posted a mock up of their very similar sweater idea-- which there was 0 way they could have known about mine. I was so disappointed bc I'd already ordered the sample.
Heck yes!
Very well said! Couldn't have a better explanation
If all people acted like you, the world would be a better place. Sometimes I think the world is losing its mind
Okay, avid fan fiction reader, so I gotta know…. What was the random? 🤓
I wish I had seen this video at 17 because I abandoned an art account with a healthy growing 16k followers because I was constantly accused of stealing ideas from other artists when in reality we were all inspired by the same media. I haven't come back to art again because of the fear of being harassed, but this has turned me around! Thank you for sharing!
ALL art is a reinterpretation…there really are no 100% original ideas. But you’ll always have your own spin. So. Create!❤
I hope you pick up that passion of yours some day in the future again!
You gotta be mean. Its a knife fight out there.
In middle school my friend threw a temper tantrum and cried in the mall because I wanted to buy the same uggs as her… this was 2008 there were like 4 options 😂
We did not stay friends for obvious reasons
The reason Tammy is so funny is because everyone knows a Tammy. So it's not crazy to think that multiple people would create a Tammy character. Bring her back! Her parrot misses her!
Yes! Please bring Tammy back!!!
“trailer trash Tammy” is such a common concept, especially here in the south, I cannot believe people can’t fathom two people thinking of similar characters. People really got nothing better to do. Good grief.
I agree!
I was blessed to know two Tammys.....Tammies?....um....two people named Tammy. xD
They were both from the same trailer park area, lived on the same street and had roughly the same accent.
One of them, the younger one, was missing a few more teeth. That was the only difference lol
From my time around that area when I went to my friend's home, I got to experence every. single. horrible. steriotypical. trashy aspect of 'The Tammy'. I will never forget finding out that they had no toilet and had to poop in a bucket outside.....in the backyard.....for all the world to see . x_x
One time in 3rd grade, this girl asked me why i was "always copying" my best friend... bc we had both gotten prescription glasses for bad eyesight around the same time as each other lol
W T F 🤯🤯🤯
You should have been like “I’ll have a very serious convo with my eyes about it-trust me I’m not happy with them either!”
That is so stupid! It reminds me of when I dyed my hair blonde at 16 & everyone accused me of copying my friends who were blonde. I was NOT copying THEM! It was 1999-2000 I just wanted to be BRITNEY BITCH! LOL
There was tons of copying going on in my junior high because lots of us had braces 😂 I don’t know who the og with actual crooked teeth was, but apparently we all just wanted to be like them.
I got a butterfly tattoo on my wrist and my friend started whining that she wanted one and she couldn't now as I'd beaten her to it, I said don't be daft get your tattoo. It was completely different, I hate the style she got (abstract with a watercolour paint swirl behind it) and we're not friends any more! Everyone won.
I think I saw Jaime's makeup and movie series first, and then found Kennie's after thanks to the algorithm. And when I found Kennie's, my response absolutely was not "someone copied someone". I thought "whoa two creators making this specific form of content that I really enjoy? SCORE!" and I proceeded to watch both series in equal measure. I was kind of bummed when Jaime stopped and ended up not watching so much of Kennie either. People have this idea that if a creator has similar ideas to another creator, they're stealing views and thus subscribers and money. That's a silly idea, given these videos are equally and freely accessible.
I am so mad at everyone who ruined Tammy for the rest of us. THANKS A LOT!!😡😡😡! I miss her 😭
Me too 😭
I think the internet, literally everybody on it, is just toxic. I'm probably part of the problem too
Yes, those accusers were being absolute losers. BRING TAMMY BACK!!!
She's just in prison...she'll be back!!❤
@@Ironashman26 oh thank goodness
I watched both Tammy's & it never crossed my mind that either of you were copying each other. I felt like both characters were different. I would love for you to bring back Tammy. It was hilarious. You & Chelcie could actually Collab & say your long lost kinfolk lol. Do a Collab.
OH MY WORD! YASSS. A collab would be the best thing ever!
Brilliant idea ❤
TAMMY COLLAB!
Omg yes!!!
I would so watch that!!! Please make it happen!!!
I remember first seeing movies and makeup and thinking of Kennie J.D., but I never thought of it as a rip off. It's statistically impossible for everyone to come up with 100% unique ideas. I was happy to see that more than one person was doing it, because that sort of content is just genuinely fun and creative.
I truly agree with Pablo here, art IS theft. No idea is original. It's about taking various things and making it your own, expressing it your own way. And even if someone flat out copies you like....who cares.....
99% of the time it's not actually affecting the one copied outside of being mad butthurt about it.*
I used to trace every drawing I ever made. Now, in my defense, I never posted these online or tried to take credit- but still. I learned a lot from copying other more talented artists, and it helped me improve my skill enough to make original drawings. It really holds true that imitation is the highest form of flattery.
*I wrote this before she showed the dudes copying her videos, and I do think that's wrong, but I stand by the fact that it's better to just let it go instead of making a big deal out of it.
Please don't let others cancel you. There is literally nothing new under the sun. You go girl.
So true, not in a bad way, but nothing is new we just create our combos to make something "new"
KEEP TAMMY ALIVE!

I learned in 2nd year English that there are like 5 original stories and that's it, essentially everything else will have similar themes etc and it made me feel so much better about the times I accidentally "copy" when writing poetry. You can see it as paying homage, expanding on themes, putting your own twist on things. It has helped me through my whole life, honestly made school worthwhile in itself!
can we all just appreciate how amazing and human jamie is and how we dont deserve her, i love you please never leave us
Been there, it sucks. I uploaded a video at the same time as another girl, the videos were very very similar, it was spooky, somehow she told her followers I had seen her video, whipped out my camera, filmed, edited and went back in time by 60 seconds and uploaded my video to steal her views, my video went up first, it was also done about a week before cause I was away for the week at my other job, she told all her viewers to bully me…one person said they will NEVER stop harassing no matter how many time I block them…
They gave up after about 5 hours but still, I reached out to her, gave her screenshots of my upload time and all she did was encourage them to go at me even more. You can’t win with some people.
That's discouraging!
Well, just to spite that person I subscribed to your channel.

A "copying" experience I had was when I was creating a webcomic.
My comic's concept centered around soulmates and used "The Red String of Fate" as a way to represent them.
I'd gotten various "copying" comments before, but a specific title kept coming up so I checked it out.
It was obvious our plot, characters, etc were all very different. The FIRST EPISODE of that comic even had a notice about the red string of fate being an old belief from Chinese mythology etc.
Apparently that author had already received many comments about them being a thief/copying other comics and explained to their audience that this isn't an original idea that they stole from someone.
And yet... their fanbase was then going to my comic and putting me through the same thing??
No hate to the other creator! I was just really irritated at the commenters.
Both my comment section and theirs had people either saying "how dare you copy ___!" or "just so you know, there's a comic ______ that seems like it's copying you" Or trying to discuss and figure out who copied who.
Eventually they got officially licensed by the site we posted our comics to, congrats to them(!), but I remember just feeling bummed and worried thinking those type of comments were just going to become more frequent once it rereleased to a wider audience with "official" backing.
My passion for the project kinda fell off for other reasons, so I wasn't posting by the time their comic came out again anyways. But the comments definitely took enjoyment out of creating it while I was still active. Other copying accusations had me considering changing plans or character designs at times , or at least stressing over "is this too similar to this" because although I know nothing is original - it does get demotivating to see so much of it in the comments.
I'm so sorry that happened to you! I follow this small artist NN and she draws and has a specific design of cute animal people. Well discovered that there is another artist who is popular becsuse on IG ll just say WS who all of a sudden has sheep designs that look like NN and created a patreon.. NN has her wayward bhaaz characters registered though because I remember when she first posted she said she was going to do that because she knew someone might try to claim it and she worked too hard over the years getting them to where she wanted. I think that is best to register your designs just so you can have an official time stamp. The You are copying comments are cringe!
“Are we ok”
No I think we stopped being ok in like 2010 🤣
Were we ever ok though?
We may have been at least a little bit sane before, but we sure have magnified the insanity 10 fold 😅
FIRST OF ALL! There is NOTHING mediocre about your talent. You are AMAZING and it makes me sick that you even have to address this. You are literally my FAVORITE CZcamsR. You are one of this most original people and I LOVE your humor. Not sure why you don’t have 3 billion followers cuz you should. Anyway you’re awesome . . . Not to mention kind and humble. @@jaimefrenchofficial Totally agree with OP. I found your videos by accident on Facebook over 2 years ago. Due to horribly unfortunate circumstances, the last couple years have been the hardest of my entire life, by FAR. I don’t even have words for how painful it’s been, but suffice to say the psychological stress has made a huge impact on my physical health, and I simply can’t find a way of this hell (because there simply is none).
But dear Jaime-your videos are like therapy for me. They never fail to bring me some MUCH needed laughs and smiles. Not only that, you also somehow make me feel much less lonely… like I have a friend out there with an incredible sense of humor who loves making fun of bad movies as much as I do. You are my “comfort food’ CZcamsr, and I’m filled with excitement every time you upload a new video-more excitement than for any other creator. You’ve come a long way since I first found your channel (in regards to subscribers), and I’m so thrilled. No other creator deserves more notoriety than you, IMO, and it’s brought me such joy to watch your channel grow. You are a kind, humble soul, and you don’t deserve ANY of the flack you described in this video. Please just keep being you! I know that a lot of creators just plain refuse to look at their comments as a rule. That all being said, I can understand why you don’t want to ignore your fans, so I just hope it gets easier over time to truly believe the famous mantra-FUCK the haters!
I love 'Makeup and Movies', 'Member That', I love Tammy, but my favorite of all time has to be the commercials with your wonderful bird. The way the conversations go with you two makes my heart so happy. The tiny hands makeup was my introduction to the wonderful world of Jamie French ❤ I love all of you
I remember in high school, all my friends and I dyed our hair random colors. I said I was going to bleach my hair but wanted to wait until summer. Well, my friend bleached her hair. Guess who got accused of copying her when summer came? Also, like it's hair color. There's only so many options lol and we all were constantly changing, no one owns a hair color.
This is what scares me about creating. With the novel I'm writing, I feel so scared that I'll be accused of stealing ideas. Also scared of being doxed, being cancelled for making an off hand comment that's misinterpreted, it just never ends. It's really scary
Create what you want to create. It may have been done before, someone may have had the same idea as you, you may not even know that they exist. But don't let that stop you! You have to try and try again! As long as you are passionate about it, keep going forward.
Dont worry fam. ✨Nothing is fully original✨ All authors have overlap from their story to another. All musicians music can have similarities. All artists are inspired off others. Just tell YOUR story and itll be unique enough ❤ Hope this helps. Im a classical musician, and sh!t we literally COPY IN FULL most of the time 😂 To keep old traditions alive
I feel this 💯
This is actually a big concern for a book I wrote back in high school (and since pretty much abandoned) that I desperately wanted to publish one day... I took inspiration from the Tomb Raider 2013 E3 demo prior to the game's release and followed a similar introduction of the character being introduced drowning, looking for their friends when washed ashore, and being kidnapped and trying to escape a tunnel. I loved the intro back in the day and threw in my own story line that the main character is actually in a mental ward for a few severe disorders, making her unable to tell the difference between reality and her imagination. This island she got ship wrecked on didn't actually exist. When some of my friends read it, they immediately asked me if I've seen a movie called Shutter Island, because the idea is the same, I guess? Never watched the movie before. I just took inspiration from the demo. It even occasionally follows similarly to what happens in the game, like there being a temple and a parachuting through trees scene where the character hits one and falls. When I wrote that, the game wasn't even released. I then started writing a sequel, and to my surprise, the trailer reveal for Rise of the Tomb Raider released months later and the intros for both were near exactly the same: the character is in therapy speaking to the therapist about overcoming their mental illnesses. That was just purely coincidental and made me feel kind of happy that I was on the same wave length as a popular gaming studio who is known for amazing story telling... Regardless, if I ever released either stories, I would be ripped into for stealing from some movies or Tomb Raider when none of that is true; I took inspiration from the Tomb Raider demo and nothing else. The rest is just coincidental and unintentional.
I feel this way too, I want to create something to sell to help me and my son get out of our situation but the internet is so nasty.
You copied my video idea! 😂😂 I know it's only in my head but still...

As someone not on TikTok, I didn’t know about the other Tammy! Yours is the one I knew and she is hilarious! As someone in the south, I’ve literally seen this type of person and you both were spot on. But I feel like your Tammy characters are slightly different! First thing we're taught in art school- "nothing is original"
I mean the fact that you and Chelcie Lynn both were inspired by “Monster” just goes to show that
1. It was a great movie
And 2. Great minds think alike ❤
Exactly! People crying copying seems to forget #2 actually still exists!
Trishas comment on your makeup ASMR stitch was literally, “This is Art”.
Jamies reply, “Omg, HI!!”
So I create 3d art and have been doing so for 8 years now.
Back in 2021, I was creating Fortnite art and decided that I would share one of my OC's with everyone 'cuz I had never done that before. So I shared my OC and then I recieve so much bullying and accusations of copying another Fortnite artist simply because my character also has Vitiligo.
The other artist and I actually follow each other and we're in a group together, and the artist actually had to tell everyone to STOP attacking me and to leave me alone.
Not to mention that I've had this original character way before I even knew the other artist existed.
While the copying accusations were 2 years ago, I still feel the effects of it now. All I wanted was to share my original character with everyone, and because of that incident, I never want to again.
in high school my ex boyfriend’s new girl used to stalk my MySpace and literally copy everything I did, eyebrow piercing, purple hair with pink bangs, tattoos, and status updates… it was really crazy
I really needed to see this. A picture I photoshopped my face on WENT VIRAL and people have been calling me a thief and clout chaser. It was a FAKE news article that I put my face on as a joke and did NOT expect a meme page to repost it and for it to blow up. I've tried to defend myself...but I felt so powerless and go so many mean messages. I really look up to you, so this brought me so much comfort...thank you so much Jamie!
I’m really sorry that happened. I hope you are ok…I can imagine that sudden amount of public attention could be a lot to deal with.
Sending you ❤️,
- internet stranger
My friend's art went viral during the Australian bushfires a couple of years ago - he created a data visualisation 3d render of the country with the areas affected by bushfires glowing like embers. He's a very talented digital artist - so much so that people started to share the picture as a 'satellite image' without crediting him. It went so far that celebrities were retweeting the image and saying it was from NASA. Then the smart smarty pants internet people started flipping out saying it was a fake image which, ofc it was, it wasn't ever meant to be taken as a real picture, it was meant to be a very pretty graph. Then suddenly his original post on Facebook gets flagged as misinformation and the news starts reporting it as a doctored image and fake news. Once things take off there's no taking them back. Internet strangers decide what the truth is.
omg JAmie liking my comment made me even happier, tysm and thank you guys for the likes!
I miss Tammy! I’ll be excited to see her again when she makes parole 🎉
This comment took me out 😂
I’m not a CZcamsr or anything, but I am an artist and musician and putting your creations out into the world, especially the Internet, is mentally and emotionally so hard! Even if there is no negative reaction sometimes I feel a crushing need to go hide in a hole and not get on the Internet for a week if I post something. So the fact that people like you are able to mentally and emotionally put up with stuff like this is pretty amazing to me.
Ugh this was SO interesting, informational, and also devastating. We see it unfold as viewers, but like you said the masses can be ruthless and I know it would affect me too if I was a creator. I appreciate your talent and humor, thanks for sharing it with us ❤️
I’ve been watching and enjoying you and Tammy Sammich for a long time and I NEVER even made the alleged “connection”…. The name ‘Tammy’ like you said is basically like the trailer park version of ‘Karen’, just a euphemism for a very specific type of person. I am really saddened to hear that these idiots sent Tammy to prison and killed your love of playing her. I actually know what that’s like for people on the internet to ruin something you love. You’re the best and I hope Tammy gets out on parole soon
As someone who creates content on Instagram and was accused by a much larger creator of copying her, I can say that it really put a damper on my desire to create for the next few months 😢 it just always sat in the back of my head, making me question if I could even create worthwhile things if nothing is truly original and literally anyone could say “they did it first”
It's so disheartening! For a generation (if that's the right word here) that likes to perpetuate ideals of inclusivity, and kindness, and raising each other up, they seem to be mighty quick to pull out the guns at the first whiff of someone doing something they deem to be even remotely similar to their faves, as if multiple people doing similar things somehow de-legitimizes it 🙃 Like, wow, putting on makeup and talking about movies, so unique! /s 😒
People have different tastes in personalities; having more people try their hands at things just provides more potential communities for people! I thought we were all looking for diversity?! Inspiration gets filtered through each individual, and inevitably comes out different in the end, because we all have our own individual marks to leave on things, but we're also all humans, so things being similar should not be a crazy concept...
Many people all over the world have the exact same ideas I see nothing wrong with putting it out there because what makes it different is that fact that YOU are the one making it and doing it.
It really does hurt when you don’t feel original or like some half bake copycat. But with all the media out there there’s bound to be a few crossovers somewhere along the line
Might be a bit of a niche instance, but I was once accused of copying a doll customization artist because I had customized a centaur doll for a friend that featured a red-to-black gradient tail and red gradient legs, which this person (the accuser) had also commissioned their centaur doll to have, from a different artist. That was it. The entire rest of the design was COMPLETELY different, literally nobody would ever confuse the two, but they were adamant that I had stolen their idea! Of a color scheme with a gradient. Okay.
The funniest part of it all is that a few months later, I saw on that other artist’s page where they showed their latest work, the EXACT same doll and design from before that I’d been accused of copying, only this time it was in purple instead of red. Everything else about the design was identical, and since it was the exact same artist, that means my accuser RE-COMMISSIONED the artist to make their doll EXACTLY THE SAME but a different color because it bothered them THAT MUCH that another doll had the same color scheme as theirs! And that artist isn’t cheap! They really spent twice as much on that doll to get it painted twice just because of a shared color scheme!
Also, you should 100% fight back against those people copy right claiming you after they stole your own videos. I'm sure you could easily prove your own identity to CZcams. When it comes to your livelihood, you can't let people fuck with you like that. There's a difference between just taking someone's idea and straight up taking their work and re-uploading it. It kills me that so many people support like "funny videos" or "cute animals" accounts that just steal all the content and don't even credit. I usually want to see more videos of that specific person or animal and I can't. It's mostly upsetting because actual creators have to deal with the crap you're discussing meanwhile no one seems to go after these faceless accounts. There's a big difference between copying or inspiration vs stealing. Hope you get it worked out!
Really sorry all this is happening Jaime. Wish I could tell you to just ignore peoples dumb comments and accusations but I know it’s not that easy. As an artist that is basically terrified of releasing any of my creative endeavors to the public, thank you for doing so for us so regularly. Honestly, I think things like this just unfortunately come with being a creator. I hope you can bring Tammy back from the dead for us one day.
Edit: Also, I’ll never forgive y’all for bullying Jamie out of Makeup and Movies 😤
Wait she's not doing movie reviews anymore?? What! 😭
Wait never mind. I see she recently did one lol. I must not have been here for the "makeup" part 😅
I'm going to be honest here, and say that while I don't think I ever made a comment bullying her over it, I have no idea if I liked any of those comments 😬 The situation sounds vaguely familiar and I for sure watched Kennie around that time. I could see myself at that time leaning more towards just automatically going with it thinking being overly cautious was better than defending something others thought was racist.
It comes from the guilt that we know minorities are looked over more often on these platforms, and we as viewers are part of that problem. That's why I actively started watching more black creators in the beauty community, because even I assumed my super pale skin meant I wouldn't get recommendations I could use, which turned out to be wrong. I'd buy more of the products Jackie Aina recommended, but she's more bougie than me lol.
Regardless, I don't know that I even engaged with the comment section at the time, but I could easily see myself joining in.
@@NickaLah it takes a lot of courage to admit we might have messed up! Kudos to you. We live, learn & grow! All of us lol, I'm guilty of sum bs sometimes, too 😩
She still does makeup and movies periodically.
This video had me seeing red. That people are really this ridiculous. 😡 when you explained getting copyright claimed for people stealing your own videos, I almost screamed. I am so sorry for all the trouble you’ve experienced but please know that Tammy, movie reviews, and everything else you do gets me through my mundane work days and it means so much. ❤️
I got a claim on 4 videos using silent hill's songs, stating they arent mine: but two music producers used some of those tracks in "their songs" so I got that claim not even from the real artist but some liars that pretend it's theirs....
Made me sick. I filed a complaint to YT with proofs.
As a Southeast Missourian born and raised and now raising my own family here I take offense to you calling us all hillbillies. 😂 😂😂
Jaime don’t let other people stop you from doing you! YOU are hilarious and you deserve your time in the light just like the rest of us! As Taylor Swift once said, @ just shake it off!”
I can’t wait for you to bring back Tammy she sounds like a hoot!
I can relate to the “they’re more popular than me so no matter what I say it doesn’t really matter.” I’m a crochet pattern designer and I’ve had a couple of people, who’ve gained more popularity than me, straight up plagiarize my work (like purchase my pattern, changed 1 line, then resell it as their own design) and trying to defend myself when others come for me talking about “you stole this from XYZ” was pointless. I’d show screen shots of sales for that design from 2016 and they didn’t care. Apparently I’m a time traveler or I can see the future or something 😂 because that’s the only way to example how I could possibly steal someone else idea 7 years before they did it 😂😂
I actually found Kennie JD and Bailey Sarian because of your recommendations during a movie makeup monday video of yours done a while back. You each have your own unique perspective and humor that make the videos fun to watch. It's crazy that people want to limit what other people can make just because someone else did it. We'd miss out on so many amazing creators if only one person was allowed to do a specific thing.
Same! I looked up Bailey Sarian and Kennie JD after she mentioned them.
Me too!
Same!
@@lisamariesweet1297 Yeah! For me it's like, sweet I get more of the thing I like. Sarah's True Crime and Bailey's Murder Mystery Makeup are the same format but completely different story telling styles that are both awesome
Yeah, I'm subscribed to both of them and it would never occur to me to accuse Jaime of copying them because they're their own unique people with their own unique tastes. To me it's just like, oh cool, more people with similar content I'm interested in.
Imagine how life could be if everyone had this amount of self-awareness and self-correction. We love personal growth. Love you Jaime!
I've been trying to stop mindlessly scrolling on my downtime, because whenever I have an idea that I'm really excited about, I inevitably end up seeing that someone else has already done it. I've basically stopped doing anything creative for my own enjoyment outside of doing work on my clients because of this, and it's sad. I don't have a fan base or anything, I can't imagine how defeating it must feel for someone who has a following.
I just watched this again, and one of the truest, saddest complaints is how CZcams and other platforms go way overboard in rewarding copyright strikes...even if they never actually copyrighted some content. To not only demonetize you, but to give all the money from the ENTIRE video when someone claims a copyright over a fair-use snippet of song or movie dialogue or game-play footage, etc. etc. is so damaging. One creator I watch lost all the proceeds because of playing an 18-second piece of a Winston Churchill speech in a video about history...turns out that piece of history is owned by a private company, despite being freely available across the internet in audio and video form. But use it in a CZcams video, and they get a payout of thousands of dollars from what is 99% someone else's work...how the heck is THAT fair? At most, the amount of money skimmed off a video should be proportionate to the portion of the video being claimed by someone else--18 seconds of a 45-minute long video, OK. If someone uploads an entire movie and tries to claim it as their own, that doesn't just deserve to be demonetized, it deserves to be taken down. But massive companies coming against content creators for things that do fall under fair use needs to be disincentivized. It hurts the small creator disproportionately harshly to have their income taken, especially in many cases for something which will INCREASE revenue for companies, by inspiring people to rewatch the movie they saw reviewed, or buy the game they saw played.
There is one thing behind the "copycat" thing..... EGO. People want credit whether they deserve it or not. It's absolutely ridiculous to believe that out of 3 BILLION PEOPLE more than 1 person can't have the same/similar idea.
Why can't we just appreciate hilarious content and be happy????
Love you girl!!! ❤❤❤
Soooo much ego and immaturity.
I knew a girl in high school that always thought people were copying her. Like if she got bangs and then someone else in one of her classes got them she'd say they copied her, or if she started doing a fashion trend and she noticed other people started doing it too then she'd say they're copying her. Even if people were listening to a song she liked, it was a big deal. But what was funny was that she'd find someone on Instagram and become like obsessed with them and shed change her whole aesthetic to match them. And whenever she liked a guy she'd find out what kind of girls he wanted and change herself so much to become like those girls. It's kinda sad thinking about it now but like damn it was crazy to watch.
It’s simple jealousy. She was insecure and afraid of losing something herself, her wanted uniqueness, her attractiveness, attention, etc, who knows what it was for her. But she didn’t know how to handle it and was taking it out in that way. It is sad but she was just a kid then. Hopefully she has learned to be herself and feel confident in that. I think all of us have experienced jealousy and I’m sure we’ve all thought things that we shouldn’t have.
Either very deeply insecure or she was just narcissistic. Other people are allowed to do things.
I think a lot of the time when people comment things like "copying!!" do so w/the goal of being morally superior. They want to be right and feel right. That's what they care about above even what they're arguing.
Please have story time telling the Kallmekris elevator interaction! I love both of you so much😂
I'm an artist, and in the past year, I realised that NOTHING is original. And you know what? It was completely liberating. Referencing history puts your own art into context and makes it so much more interesting! Great video Jaime
Yup. Yup, yup, yup. It's really the ignorant that only look at TikTok and Twitter, or stay in their little bubble while being chronically online crying about copy cats. Or you're a child tbh.
If you have a decent amount of knowledge about people and leave your mind open, you will find that humans think in similar ways all over the world, so it makes sense that we are inspired by the same things and draw similar conclusions and create similar things.
@@TheSwauzz Oh absolutely. Even in philosophy and religion you'll find similarities worldwide. But that's the beauty of being human. Comparing notes and analyzing things in different ways.
The fact that two creators associated the name "Tammy" with that...type...of character... 😂
Poor Tammy's of the world 😂
there’s even a movie called “Tammy” which perpetuates the trailer park tammy stereotype lol
@@possessedtoy well, clearly these two creators copied Melissa McCarthy and her extremely original and one of a kind portrayal of a trailer park queen named Tammy….. 😂😂😂 this whole “copying” drama is ridiculous
Honestly, I've met Tammy's that are like that so it's not surprising.
@@joeyjoe328 couldn’t have said it better myself 😂
The idea that the person who is more popular gets the credit is beyond problematic. That needs to change because it sets up potentially predatory situations where more powerful people can just steal whatever they want. This is why pop stars get sued tbh. And some should.
I will never forget about 20 years ago when I was talking to a filmmaker friend about a subculture he'd never heard of, and he said "Dude we should make a documentary about that!" And when I said, "Well, there is one documentary about it already," he just said back, "So what? I haven't heard of it. Let's just make it and we'll do it our way."
We never made that movie, but ever since I've just reminded myself again and again that nothing I do has to be completely original to be good.
Getting accused of "copying" is one of the many things that made me lose my passion for writing. It felt like any new idea I tried, someone was like, "But that's already been done before!" And I was like 😑.
As an amateur poet, I get it. Humans have existed for centuries and centuries, and we’ve created millions of art along the way. Everything has been done at this point; there’s nothing truly “unique” left. The vast majority of today’s writing is inspired by something that was inspired by something…it goes on and on. 😂 We can only put our own stamp on something and create art that makes us happy. Too many people forget this. Outright plagiarism is another matter - that’s real copying.
Don't ever feel bad for "getting too personal". Its like apologizing for being yourself. We need more people opening up and talking about complex topics.
Oh my god.... the ending of this video is honestly exactly what I needed to hear. I was working so hard to create the kinds of art I wanted to create for myself, but in order to do that.... you have to study.. from somewhere right? Something? I asked, ASKED, an artist on Facebook who I really enjoyed if I could study their art. Study, not copy, and if I posted anything I would give her credit for their work, how it inspired me yadda yadda. I commented all this on a public post of theirs and they privately messaged me back simply saying "I would prefer if u did not do that." It sounds silly... but I was rocked and it totally tanked my confidence and ability to create anything, even cook. Cause it's like oh my god I'm a copy cat that's all ill ever be, life is hopeless why even create its all been done before. That was I think 4 years ago now and I think I can count on both hands how many things I've created in four years. That's so sad. I appreciate this video.
Literally the piece at the very end. If I rip something off I say I ripped it off?? Yes.
I think yall should do a video of both yalls characters together meeting each other for the first time! It would be hilarious!
Every single artist is inspired by someone
...and maybe subconsciously influenced. Such is art. ❤
It's a different take on the same human experience ❤
I used to be super afraid of accidentally doing 'what has already been done' and 'spitting in the face of originality'. Then I grew up, and realized that human beings are literally composed of patterns and always have been. Now, its kind of comforting. Someone has been where I've been, dreaming the same dreams, consumed with the same desire to create and they DID. Which means I can too
I was just thinking that recently, too, that even the "original" melodies I hum to my baby have prob been done before, lol!
Random: do you watch Amala? I feel like I've seen you before...
@@impposter560 Yes, I feel that way too, that it's comforting. Another way of knowing we're all human and not alone.
I'm an avid Kennie fan, and I remember her making a video a while back where she addressed this copying stuff. She told people to chill and said she was inspired by other creators to do her Bad Movie and a Beat series.
Exactly! I think this is why the Kennie part pissed me off a little. Plus the comments they were making.
Wonderful video - I needed to hear this. I'm an artist and always feel like I shouldn't be doing pretty much anything that's ever been done before....which is literally everything. You're one of the very few authentic people who make me smile and laugh. Thank you for what you do!
I'm actually so annoyed with unreal because their products are made in a factory on machinery where milk products are made too so it may contain dairy after all. There are other chocolate options out there that truly have no dairy and no accidental dairy either. I'm severely lactose intolerant so can't risk it.

Just keep your head up. You're hilarious. Get those comments. But more importantly get those views, your incredible and lovely and funny af, so please Jaime KEEP GOIN LADY!!!
Depression watching videos-I relate so much to that! lol
I too relate to this! Depression watching is totally a thing I do
I definitely feel this as a writer and actor. With the projects I am working on in my free time, while they are inspired by other works, they are individual; regardless, I get afraid sometimes that people will think I am copying other people, when for me, it is getting inspiration from others to create my own work. There are even references to other works in my works. It’s a sucky feeling, for sure. That being said, I love watching you, Kennie, Bailey, and others. Y’all are freaking great.
One of the more weird parts for me in hearing this is people in the comment section feeling the need to call you out for “copying “. That is so freaking bizarre.
I started watching Kennie JD because I loved the makeup/movies videos that you did. I liked the GENRE. You guys do different types "bad movies". You both have your own STYLE.
And Kennie was inspired by Bailey Sarian! I love how they all have their own senses of humor and style.
Same! I love Kennie! But their style is totally different!!
Fr Kennie's content is completely different
Ugh Jaime this breaks my heart for you. You put so much effort and work into your content. I’ve always seen you give credit where credit is due. Please don’t let people dim your light. It’s a dark world, the more people spreading laughter, the better.
I actually find it really sweet & wholesome at the fact that no creation is original, especially not anymore. I think it’s sweet that as humans, we see each others creations, become inspired, & make our own version of said thing or things. There’s a difference between drawing inspiration, subtle or not, and straight up ripping people off & that usually lies in the intention. I love you Jaime, you have been my comfort person for a while now. You deserve all the love & appreciation. ❤
Oh man, that reminds me of the time someone accused me of stealing a youtube comment where I made a movie reference in relation to the video because someone had posted something vaguely similar like 2 days before and gotten more likes. Like yeah, I'm sure making a movie reference is so amazingly original that 2 people couldn't possibly have thought of the same thing. The only logical explanation is that I dig through youtube comments with 5 likes in order to STEAL them and then get less likes anyway.
In my arts management class, one of the books we read was called "Steal Like an Artist" It was literally a part of our curriculum.
Gonna read that now, thanks! 😊
I remember back when you did the tiny hands thing. You called it the Tiny Hands Challenge, if I'm not mistaken, and the very nature of 'challenge' videos is that they're meant to be copied. So, it doesn't even matter who started it. Yours was, without a doubt, the best one! I remember the hassle you got for it and thought it was ridiculous then, and even moreso now. You just keep doing what you're doing. You're one of the most creative and funny creators on YT! PS- I miss Tammy!
Good point! 👍 I actually randomly found Jaime when she posted a reply to the guy calling her a Beige Becky. Weird algorithm because I didn't know him either.
That was all I need to see to start following her.
Omg! You two should do a skit about HI I'm Tammy and this is my sister Tammy! Like my brother Daryl and my other brother Daryl, that would be awesome!
Someone in the CZcams comment section accused one of my comments from another woman’s video. She “didn’t remember” the creators name but accused me of copying her verbatim. Tragic.
Dude. This is wild. Thank you for pushing through all this nonsense for the sake of our laughter! Praying for your strength in this crazy world!
I’ve watched both yours and Kennie’s videos as far as the makeup and movies series that you do, and I love both of them because despite being a similar premise they are INCREDIBLY different. The delivery and editing style are different, the shot choices are different, hell even the makeup application/style is different. It drives me crazy that people would go so far as to say that one is copying the other because the actual style of videos are not similar in any way at all. I hope one day, if you felt you could, that you could bring back that series, but I totally understand if you decide not to.
Plus reviewing movies while doing makeup is a super generic idea anyway, you could easily see multiple people coming up with an idea like that independent of one another.
Wow, you have benn through it! Thank you so much for making this video, I'm totally going to show people this video if I am ever accused of copyright infringement. (Also, how in the world do you get your hands on a Copyright Lawyer? I looked for one but could not find one for the LIFE of me & this was back in 2010 or so.)
I noticed that the little people are the ones CRUSHED & for whatever reason it seems that certain individuals are literally picked on, like there's a group of people who go around and just tear down CERTAIN people, who are doing NOTHING Wrong. It's in ALL Categories across America (& the English speaking word it seems) at least.
It's always the small people who are imaginative, resourceful, innovative, & seem to have great potential for, "going viral".
I have never seen your videos & didn't even know you existed & just randomly clicked the video because of course it was suggested to me. But I'm very glad I watched it now. "Cancel Culture" which has obviously been going on since the beginning of CZcams has been around for an eternity.
In the end you could try just deleting the comments (when you find them. If you have a big enough audience you can't get them all, I know) personally that's what I do. Still **HURTS** Emotionally & Spiritually, but at least the weapon formed against you is Zhone So that it CAN'T hurt you again.
Kinda like a shard of glass, throw it out so it won't cut your "souls" of your feet again, instead of being reinjured by it. You know?
Anyway, I WISH there was a better way to deal with this. Something that HELPED people like you (&me) the WRONGFULLY Accused, instead of further harming us. =-(!

You were a comedic genius at a very young age, that "All you dozens of watchers" at the beginning of your videos gets me every time.
At my last semester of art school me and my friend LITERALLY came up with the same ideas and even the same inspirations for our final project, and we NEVER talked about it, it was 100% an accident that we end up laughing so much, I ended up changing my final project because in my opinion hers was more elaborated and I had time to start over, but it's was totally an accident and it end up being almost the same thing with no intention at all.
Also look it up the "the 3% rule" that Virgil Abloh always talked about it.
It really does happen! My coworkers and I were tasked with writing a script for a commercial recently and our boss would pick the one he liked the most. One of my coworkers and I had such similar scripts based on the initial instructions on what they were looking for. Totally a coincidence. We didn’t work together at all or even show each other drafts of anything.

Videos like this make me feel sane because I have been saying this for a while and get nothing but pushback. I'm so happy other people are thinking critically about this too.
You are a breath of fresh air on the internet!
Absolutely! This was one of the concepts any art instructor worth their shot has tried to teach in classes I’ve taken. Everything has been done before, the way the human mind works means you will always reference things you have seen that stuck with you. Your skill as an artist is creating a new viewpoint or narrative, using the elements of the world around you to shape your view.
I make ocean jewelry on Etsy and one of my best sellers is a light up seashell necklace (like the one from a certain movie). I get messages all the time about how I copied someone else 'idea' to put a light in a seashell lol. HUNDREDS of people on Etsy sell them, and it's not that original to think about making one, but so many people think that since THEY thought of it, that means NO ONE ELSE in the world has ever or should ever have the same idea. Just not possible 😂 we're ALL 'copying' it from the same movie anyway, so if anyone is the 'original idea' it's that movie. So dumb.
I am so thankful that you took the time to discuss this with your audience. I don't make YT content, but I am a visual artist, and the copying allegations run rampant in the art community the same way. Creative people often draw inspiration from other artists, and some of us deal with 'imposter syndrome'. (Big quotes 'cause that's a whooooole thing on its own.)
I wouldn't be where I'm at with my art now if it weren't for the inspiration given to me by my favorite/fellow creators. I tend to stay away from social media these days, things can get so...catty.
I'm a cake & cookie decorator, and this hits right on home in my field. 9 out of 10 cakes I make are clients sending me a photo of someone else's work, and at least 3 of those 9 want me to copy it EXACTLY.
Worse than that, the whole baking community is fenced. I could post an inspo cake vs my cake post and half will nitpick everything I did wrong, and the other half applaud me "making it my own".
It's a mess. And more often than not, the photos sent are just screen shots from tick tock, IG, or google, where I cannot see who made that cake- and generally the client has no clue; they went looking for a cake style, not a specific decorator- so I couldn't give credit even if I wanted to bother trying.
Even in "copying" each artist has their own take on something. If people bothered looking, they'd be able to see individual artistic flair in every copied work.
God bless you, Jaime. ❤ nunbutluv
Omg the copywrite thing is infuriating. I had no Idea.
