In the books this boar leaves a scar in his leg ,and this is how he gets remembered as he come back after all this time.
Didn’t Ody’s old nursemaid recognize him due to the scar? She was like “that mark on your leg.. _gasp_ Odysseus, is that-“ and then Odysseus grabs her by the fucking shoulders is like “ssshhhutt the fuck up!”
Not sure if it was truly the same one, but a boar was also mentioned in the cut song Your Light, with Odysseus and Polites running into it as children. Polites froze when it charged at them, and Odysseus shoved him out of the way in order to protect him, both taking the hit to his leg as well as killing the boar, which Mircsy kind of references in her WOTM animatic.
what great during Open Arms is when you listen closely to polites where there is other food and all the winions say "A Cave!" there is a faint voice saying "the scary cave" giving a hint at why they dont go their to eat themselves
Eurylochus is said to have the crew as his instrument, there are time when his instrument is taken away and then he starts to act as if he is powerless or he gives in to out side forces
Both Scylla and Charybdis get songs for themselves in the future. Also, fun fact, Scylla, while monstrous, was essentially a giant hermit crab.
One nitpick I have with this Warrior of the Mind animatic is that the artist chose to make Athena a winged goddess. I always associate that with gods like Nike, Iris, and Eros so, despite her ability to take the form of an owl, it always felt a little off seeing Athena with wings. Still a fantastic animatic regardless.
Actually more specifically the clock ticking is Athena’s so7nd. Like in the very first song “horse and the infant”, there was a light ticking sound, indicating that Athena is watching

I'll likely check it out when I finish Cyclops saga then, add it on to the overall video lol

I really appreciate these videos, I checked out this musical purely because it's based on the Odyssey, and I adore mythology (shocker, Fate pfp). So getting more mythological context is really enjoyable.
Oh trust me the urge to make Fate references is actively being denied... but a certain ocean god MIGHT prompt a joke or two when I get to Ruthlessness.
Athena is specifically the Patron God of Odysseus' household, providing advice and guidance on separate things during the course of the poem. Both to Odysseus and Telemachus, she is the one who drive Telemachus to leave his household and grow as a man, returning to unite with his father and... 'deal' with The Suitors once he has grown a bit more into his own skin. I... do wonder if Jorge will finish the series with an Act 3, especially considering the changes made to Odysseus fidelity meaning that Telegonus (His son via Circe, one of debatably three, dependent on interpretation.) doesn't exist, and therefore won't come to accidentally kill his father and marry Penelope. (yeah it's an odd one, then Telemachus ends up with Circe, so two half brothers ending up with each-others moms, some traditions portray Telemachus ending up with Calypso though. /*How*/ though i'm confused by.)
I'm unsure how much of the infidelity in The Odyssey is meant to be a indication of character and circumstance, a norm for marriage at the time, or an exception made because of the fact both of his lovers in The Odyssey are Gods/Titans; and although I understand why Jorge made the change I wish some of it stayed both because it's important to the story and because Odysseus circumstances are murky enough his actions become... not justified, but *somewhat* understandable. 10 years of war and then the trials he went through will drive a man to significantly worse habits then infidelity. Also... They're uh, they're Gods. Wanna tell me how telling Zeus 'no' has gone, mythologically speaking? And the female Gods are sometimes even more cruel.
Going by my admittedly more limited grasp of the Odyssey I'd chalk the latter points up to the times. It was obviously a very different culture with a different view on things like sex and marriage so perhaps his infidelity was seen as excusable because Odysseus was always focused on Penelope first and foremost (and as you mentioned saying "no" to Gods/God-adjacent entities usually doesn't end well for mortals in Greek myths). But it is one of those things that, when interpreting the poem through a more modern lens is understandable to remove.
And considering the WIPs we have of some of the final songs I do think the play's story will overall be wrapped up with Odysseus's return to Ithaca and all of that.
@@SeikerHikaru I think so too, I just feel the story loses a bit if you end it after they deal with The Suiters and don't portray Telemachus fully realizing himself as a man in his fathers shadow, along with the natural conclusion in Epic's story for him being that his fathers loss of morals, while reasonable at the time, wasn't desirable or even very positive in the long-term.
EDIT: I do find it incredibly strange that Jorge found it easier to accept Odyseus' story by removing the infidelity... but not the killing of Hectors son? lol. So apparently infanticide is more acceptable then cheating on a woman. lmao even.
eh, the telegony isn't really that important to the odyssey itself, telemachus' arc is wrapped up well there and in my opinion it actually cheapens the story a bit. considering how little we actually know about it it's usually best to just ignore it for adaptations.
odysseus' affair with circe probably wouldn't have been considered unfaithfulness at the time and the situation with calypso was definitely abuse, no doubt about it. overall it wouldn't at all fit in with the character epic is trying to portray, so it's better that it was removed. more important than anything else is for odysseus to be consistent in the adaptation he's in, you can't have him longing for penelope in every song and then cheating on her five minutes later. he already has enough going on as is.
btw there won't be an act three, epic's ending at act 2. we already know a bit about the last two songs in fact.
@@lellenny Fair enough, i'd just like a bit more perspective on Odysseus' Arc then just 'im gonna be ruthless to get what i want' and ending up winning. Not even saying he's wrong, just that i'd like to see other characters views on it.
with further thought, what i'm farm more interested in is if Jorge is willing to make a trilogy of this story by adapting The Iliad and The Aenead
@@powerfist1340 i don't think we can really talk much about this cause a lot of things haven't happened yet, like we haven't seen exactly how penelope or telemachus react to him for example. he does end up "winning" in the sense that he gets back home but he's a completely different man by that point and he's lost himself and so many friends along the way so it's a bittersweet ending either way. basically he's now a very traumatized man with severe ptsd lol he doesn't get off easy.
yeah, i'd love to see his take on the iliad especially! he's still working so hard on this project i'd never ask him to start another one right after but man, i bet he'd give diomedes a killer song.

For the Circe saga, I rlly recommend Crashite and Ximena Natzel!! They’re one of my fav animators and their animatics are sooo underrated in comparison to other epic animatics
So while he's not super in depth (like two mentions IIRC, both on Circe's island) n the myth, it is said that Polites was both Ody's best friend-and the one who taught him to use a bow
