Also a quick note, I know Warrior of the Mind is not shown, but it will be shown in the Cyclops Saga! We made a mistake in the playlists and couldn't re-record the reactions, so there will be Warrior of the Mind in Cyclops Saga instead!

When you get to the Ocean Saga, I definitely recommend the Ruthlessness animatic by AnniFlamma! They have a unique interpretation of Poseidon and the animation is amazing!
Now that you’ve seen the Cyclops Saga, I’d love to point out that when the Lotus Eaters are pointing out the cave, aka when they all say “The Cave” in tandem, one of them goes a bit further and says “The Scary Cave.” As just a little bit of foreshadowing.
I love when they go "That Way" after "East"

I'm glad that you enjoyed the animatics because the animators (Gigi, Wolfy and Mircsy pronounced Mirchi) are awesome!
As wonderful as Epic the Musical is, and as skilled and talented as Jorge and the gang are, I don't think I'd have gotten this much into it without the animatics.
I feel like the fans deserve almost equal, if not equal credit for breathing so much life into the story and characters and really contextualizing everything in a very accessible medium.
The first song I heard was "Just a Man", and it was a great song... but just a song. For me, the animatics made them into a true story.
I just think the fandom has been absolutely amazing, but also don't want to take credit from Jorge and everyone else who worked so hard.
The animatics are great but distracting and manipulating af.
Fun fact: The lyric "when does a man become a monster?" actually has a double meaning! The first, being more so "when will this infant become a ruthless warlord like zeus prophesied?", and the second being "when will I MYSELF become an inhumane monster for committing to such horrendous actions (like slaughtering this defenseless child)?"
i know this is your second time reacting to these songs so you're focusing your commentary more on the animatics but i think it's still important to keep in mind not to be too critical of them, they're still fanworks, fans who dedicated their free time to create amazing visuals! i don't think there's a need for much comparison between the hand drawn animatics and the stage animatics
The original ones you used were pretty cool I hadn’t seen them before but I think the drawn ones are better, especially on a first watch/listen
17:00 i don't think you realize the true point of this song. It's supposed to introduce you to two very important characters. It's not only about travelling through the sea.
I understood the purpose of the song. The less animation, the more you focus on the lyrics. Introducing the two main sailors who are clearly the focal point was done really well. I just thought there was too much animation to the point where I was focused on that as compared to the main trio that the traveling song was meant for.

@@ea.eaeaeaeaeaI am not always going to get every single interpretation correct. The joy of music and art is that different people may hear/see different things. I am an instrumentalist by trade and therefore sometimes don't fully focus on lyrics. I more listen to and focus on chords and Instrumentation and then try to go back to lyrics. I also think that's a joy of this. Now that I know the main focus, I can go back and listen to it with a different perspective. I love when people find or hear things differently than I did! That's just part of the music world! So I thank the comments I get on the details I missed! Makes me enjoy the media more!
@@sunoshecano3837 I like those thoughts, Great Bard. My perspective is that the song can be both a transition song and an introduction song. Not only are Eurylochous and Polities are introduced, but some of the motifs of Act 1 are being introduced as well.
Firstly, so happy we get to go back and see you experience the animatics, good job as usual! Secondly, its so nice to see the Wolfy version after Gigis. Usually people watch both of Gigi because it kinda make sense to follow the same style but somehow these two together have a different weight (in a good way).
i really loved hearing your music breakdown and your lore breakdowns on the 3d model videos you watched! as well as enjoyed seeing them because i didn’t know they existed and it really kind of put a visual in my head about what an actual broadway adaptation could look like, haha.
all these animations are ones i have seen several times over and you are soooo right when you say that the visuals in just a man can make a person cry. i had heard the song many times prior but the first time i watched an animatic, i was SOBBING. seeing the tiny baby hands reaching for him, and the way mom turned around so frantically when he held the baby over the wall. it is sooooo good and so so so painful. there are a few of them out there and they’re all so darn good and gut punching.
i also enjoy your personality and thoughts so i can’t wait to, again, listen to you re listen to the cyclops saga ( and warrior of the mind)! thanks for being the bardiest of bards with your intellect on the motifs and all that. it helps the less bardy ones like me pay more attention to more than just the main instrumentals and the lyrics.
Thank you! I know everyone does focus more on the lyrics and messages! That's only half the story! The other half is what helps to compliment the story and thats my jam :-)

Wonderful! Loved seeing the way you analyzed the visuals. The community have made a lot of custom visuals for many characters, mainly the main trio being the appearance of the actual singers, or the Lotus Eaters becoming those fluffy little guys, by now you must have watched the Cyclops one, so i am curious at what you thought of it

Hey ! Cool reaction, I really like your analysis and how you see thing and all. I don't really agree with you for fullspeed ahead, but hey, that's why I am watchong those reactions, to get other point of view than mine, so even if I disagree, I really like having your opinion on that, and it help to see things in a way we did not before !
I don't know if the person ( sorry, I forgot his nickname and I am on my phone, so I can't replay the video while typing x) ) who gave you the playlist told you about the differents animatics/animators or not, but there is multiple animatic for each music. For example, here you did watch gigi's animatic for Horse and the infant, and wolfy's for Just a man, but gigi made an animatic for Just a man aswell that directly follow there animatic for the first song. If you like the animatic I would strongly advise you to watch the take of different animator on a same song, not necessary for a video, bit for yourself ( if you feel like you want it ofc ).
All animatics are fanmade, and except few parts commissioned by Jorge for the teaser of certain song, animatics does not necessarily reflect Jorge's vision on the Epic. But the general idea stay the same anyway because they take inspiration on the original work of the Odyssey. All of that to say : animatics are mostly interpretation, even tho you can take the general idea for granted ( in general )
I noticed there were a lot of different animatics! I'm hoping to view some of them on my own time! And thank you for the kind words! That's why I enjoy music! There are so many different interpretations to the media that everyone can make! I enjoy seeing those differences!
@@sunoshecano3837 Yeah, that is a thing I love aswell, see différents interpretation.
If I can add something it would be just : enjoy what you're hearing/seeing if you continue with the animatics. There is for most song an agreement in the community for which animatic to choose in a first listening of the Epic. But for some of them ( I will not say the title of the songs I am talking about, to avoid any potential spoilers, since idk where you are ) it's 50/50 between 2 animatics. So once you will be there, know that you will have people saying the other one is better, no matter which one you choose. So yeah, just enjoy because no matter the one you're watching, they are all amazing. Every animator doing this are crazy talented, in the end, it will just be a question of preference in the interpretation
If you want less visuals, you can perhaps just watch a lyric video instead. Animatics are about the art after all
The plan is to do mainly audio reactions with the animatic telling the story of the lyrics to help convey the right feelings!
I will say that, while the visuals of these animatics are really good, and I love them a lot, there is something I like about the original set too. These animatics present things in more the style of an animated movie, but the 3D dolls were presented like a stage show, with sets being wheeled in and out, and the lighting being used to convey the focus. The drawn animatics are great for visuals, but the dolls let you see how it might be performed live.

I do think the wanting for more movement is just a minor nitpick, nothing major that needs to be focused on too much. Besides, the song was meant to introduce characters, I feel like adding that much especially with wanting more crew members around would make it hard for the audience to focus on the purpose of the song.

In The final Ocean saga (ruthlessness) would recommend to react to animation made by Anniflamma for a certain god representation
We did go with a different animatic for Ruthlessness, but perhaps we can make a list of the ones that people have been suggesting and do another round of 'fan favorites' or something. Ocean is recorded and ready to be released on Monday ^^

For Ruthlessness i suggest AnnimaFlammas animation ,thier is so much movement and chaos to thier animatic!

One of us! One of us! BTW for most of the popular animatics the big three creators are WolfyTheWitch, Gigi and Mircsy. Your opinion on their being too much animation at certain points in Full Speed Ahead is something I thought as well the first time around. After several rewatches it no longer confuses my focus but I definitely felt it the first time. Still a really nice animatic though ❤.
Also, since Epic can be considered separate from the original Oddyssey in some ways there are several people among the fandom who ship Oddysseus and Polities. I think Mircsy's animatic of Open Arms is a big reason for that, at least for some. Also, also, apparently Polites throwing the apple at the end is an ancient greek way of proposing. If you catch the apple you accept the proposal. So I guess in the animatic Epic universe Oddysseus and Polites agree to marry :D

I believe warrior of mind might have been added to the Cyclopes era. We had some mixups when editing.
