  • Eat healthy and build ripped lean muscle with this…
    athleanx.com/x/the-x-factor-me...
    Eating healthy when traveling can be a challenge, if you are not prepared. In this video, I share with you my tips for eating healthy on the road throughout the day. I show you the exact things I ate during a recent trip to Wrestlemania 31 for work. From breakfast foods to lunch and dinner options, as well as a supplement packaging trick that helps me to stay consistent with my diet wherever I am.
    Most people travel (for either business or pleasure) and wind up gaining weight by the time they get home. This is because traveling usually throws people off their normal eating schedules and leaves them hungry and craving foods they don’t normally eat at times they don’t usually eat. This doesn’t have to be the case.
    If you prepare a little ahead of time, you can definitely eat healthy anywhere you find yourself. One of the things I do before I go anywhere is pack my ATHLEAN-Rx supplements in little bags or single servings. The supplements provide me with a convenient and quick meal (I mix them with a banana and some skim milk) so I can get my protein in without having to sit down at a long meal. I’m usually working during my travel and I just don’t have the time to take a lot of time to eat.
    The night I arrive at the hotel, I spend about 10 minutes looking through the menus for the restaurants in the hotel (as I like to hit these up for dinner and breakfast often during my stay) or for other options around the hotel (within walking distance). I will often ask the concierge what are the healthiest places to eat so I know what my choices are by the time I wake up my first morning there.
    Once I locate a place that has a breakfast I can count on, I do not switch! I continue to eat there every morning of my stay. To me, it isn’t about variety it’s about consistency. I know that if I can get my consistently healthy breakfast in every day, I’ll not only feel better but I will be able to continue to build muscle while I travel without worrying about getting fat.
    Sometimes, room service is my only option. While it’s often ridiculously expensive, it does provide a convenience and a customization level that some restaurants aren’t even offering. Since my body is a large part of what I do for work, the added expense is something that I’m willing to pay to ensure that I can meet my nutrition needs the right way. Not for everybody but then again, I swear that it’s possible to find something healthy at any restaurant so you definitely have options.
    If you feel that you are often a slave to your nutrition and diet then it’s time to stop worrying. With the X-Factor Meal Plans in the ATHLEAN-X Training System, you can worry less and eat more. You can start eating like an athlete anywhere by visiting athleanx.com and looking into the convenience and effectiveness of the plan.

      The easiest solution would be to just stop eating junk food or limit it to a small amount each day, then you won't have to worry about it anymore :P
      Is that taste really worth the bad conscience (And progress-impeding effects)? I mostly refrain from it with that in mind.
      To use Jeff's slogan:
      In order to look like an athlete, you gotta eat like an athlete!

    Another option for quick, healthy and cheap meals on the road: tuna fish. Buy the meal-size packages that can be ripped open by hand, without the use of a can opener. They take very little space in your luggage. At your travel destination, buy a loaf of bread and maybe a favorite vegetable topping (bell pepper, cucumber, tomato....). If you don't have a knife and cutting surface in your hotel room, clean the vegetable, remove the seeds if necessary, and eat it whole, as a side dish to the plain tunafish sandwich. If you don't have a refrigerator in the room for the vegetables, buy only enough each day for that day's meal. You'll easily save money over room service and eat far healthier. Use the saved money to take your wife or girlfriend to her favorite restaurant when you return home. She'll order whatever she wants. You, of course, will have the plain tunafish sandwich. :)

    You make a very valid point in enjoying what you eat. I found that as spring / summer approaches, growing your own veggies on our patio makes me that much more invested in my own nutrition.

    Amazing video as usual, Jeff. The thing in countries that aren't as developed as the USA is that they don't understand this kind of stuff at restaurants, they don't even have whole wheat bread many of the times, let alone listening to the customer about not using the heavy dressings. I hope more and more people in the world begin to acknowledge healthy eating because it can get a challenge like it or not.

    Hey Jeff - This is great! Can you do another on the road, in your car for the day, or gotta eat in 5 minutes video. I'd love to know if there are any bars, snacks, meal replacements. I am always aware of stuff I can grab for the day that would spoil if it was over two days and then other stuff that I can keep in the hotel room. Obviously the tough parts are the proteins and the perishables, especially fresh fruit/vegetable. What do you think about shakes with blended vegetables and fruits with protein powder balanced in an insulated 32 oz container? Other questions: Do you believe it matters what ratio of Omega 3 and Omega 6 you eat? Would you agree with 1-1.2 grams of protein, and .35 grams of fat per pound of target body weight? Why do you need to eat any starchy carbs, are they important or just for enjoyment and satiation? Do you think it makes sense to drink a lot of water before and during meals, to reduce volume of food eaten? How do you manage your water. All of these questions are for when you are trying to gradually cut, especially if it is when you are trying to cut the last 3% of body fat? I love your infor. You are definitely the very best on the web! Keep at it. Thanks for all you are doing. Any and all success is VERY well deserved. You are providing an awesome service to the world.
    Actually, I do have another question: I have a persistent shoulder injury. It doesn't hurt that much, but just never goes away and as it feels better, I try to lift a little more, and then I have to give it a break. What are the ways that you can work parts of your body and maintain it or even, preferably still build it, while recovering? I know you sometimes, just have to give it a rest, but I think people would really love a series of video's on how to maximize the overload on surrounding muscles, while minimizing the load on the joint, so it can heal? (Form, contraction, high reps/low weight, reduced range of motion, etc.). How much would it help to do super intensive flexes at max contraction? I am especially trying to make sure to hit chest, but as you know with the shoulder, it freakin attaches to everything.
    Another great video would be: What if you want to keep growing everywhere and you do a balance set of workouts, BUT you want to maximize the focus on one or two areas to kind of 'catch up' and balance it out proprotionately for either aesthetics or performance. How do you make sure you giving that muscle every thing you can possibly give it and not overtrain it. I am especially interested in how you can help it along, by either stretching, or doing extremely light work on it on off days, or use it in an athletic way on off days. Should you do high wt on one day a week and then high rep on the other day? What is the proportional benefit of eccentric vs concentric?
    HELP & THANKS a million!

    Question.... can someone lead me to an explanation why supplementation consistency matters and it's effects?

    • @Tehstool
      @Tehstool Před 9 lety +1

      shogrran Depends on what supplements you use. My understanding would be that what you eat/do consistently shows. So if you eat one bad meal that isn't going to ruin your hard work. Protein used consistently should increase your gains, but used once every month or not even wouldn't have that effect for example.

    • @shogrran
      @shogrran Před 9 lety

      Tehstool For example in my case I only take protein on the days I work out. I dont take it every day. So for example I go on a company trip for 2 days straight, I don't take protein 2 days straight as well. Is that not supposed to be?

    • @Tehstool
      @Tehstool Před 9 lety +2

      shogrran You take whey protein after working out because your muscles need it to help rebuild. If you aren't tearing the muscle then you shouldn't need as much. You still are going to want some protein because your muscles are still rebuilding on your rest days.

    Jeff, i was wondering if you could do a video about organic food vs unorganic food. Is it necessary to go organic? What are the advantages? I really appreciate it.

    • @ShaedeReshka
      @ShaedeReshka Před 6 lety +1

      Going through these video backlogs and saw this comment. Unless you already know by now, there is absolutely no advantage to organic foods. In fact, they can in some cases be worse than conventional. I wouldn't worry about them one way or another, but I tend to stay away if I have the choice.

    Hey, Jeff! I am a huge fan of your work and even more so the WWE! A while ago I tweeted you and WWE about how awesome it would be for the WWE superstars to be trained by you. How long how have you worked with WWE? Hopefully it's not a one time thing...

    Another good tip:
    Buy the Grilled Chicken Wraps at McDonalds (in Europe they are pretty good at least). And you can find a McDonalds pretty much everywhere.
    I eat two and get about 50-60g of Protein with a good amount of lettuce, tomatos, etc.
    I always ask them to prepare it without the greasy sauce.

    Another great video jeff thank you! I have a question, I am a local fuel delivery truck driver I'm usually gone about 10-16 hours from the time I leave home till I get home, I am able to microwave some breakfast when I get to where my truck is parked but after that I often and heat food up, this has made it very hard to eat the healthy food I need. What do you suggest as far as cold meals I can keep in a lunch box and eat on the go? Thanks!

    • @raymondsmith6262
      @raymondsmith6262 Před 6 lety +1

      Brent Cambern are you in the same truck everydayor do you slip seat?? The reason I ask is do your meal prep....leave them in your lunch box and I rigged up a flat metal plate on the turbo side behind the radiator with a couple of buggies on it and I take my meal in the plastic Tupperware container and put it on their between stops (30-45 min sometimes between stops) and pull it off to eat it when I get set up at my next stop and I'm waiting....and repeat the process through out the day with the other meals that you have prepped.....the only issues I've encountered is Rain Hinders the heating process lol I live in Texas.....sometimes the Tupperware gets really nasty on the outside and the weather effects the results depending on how cold it is outside and where you are located it's not fool proof cause depending on what you pack sometimes the centers are cold but it's a starting process and when my truck goes to the shop for repairs or PMs the shop guys and DOT were always questions what that metal plate is till I explain it and the shop has thrown it away a couple of times

      raymond smith haha I've thought of that before tried putting it on the dash to warm cuz I live in Florida and it's usually hot but it takes forever lol I'm in the same truck it's a tank wagon not transport though so I usually only stop for 10-20 mins on most stops sometimes longer but not usually

    Jeff,
    There is a Whispers on the US Army base in Seoul, Korea. The menu looked identical to the one you put up in the video. Definitely a good place to eat clean at. Anyways, I wanted to ask your take on eating coconut oil. I eat it sometimes straight out the jar to stave off hunger for an hour or so before my next meal. Since you are talking nutrition, I wanted to put this topic out there.

    I travel abroad for a living, so I too have to take my supplements etc with me. If I have to repack them into unlabelled containers (baggies etc) then I go to their respective websites, download and print out information about them e.g. ingredient statements, uses etc. I take that information with me just in case I have problems with baggies full of 'generic white powder' when at Customs of the host country and/or returning home.

      Rock tape or kinesio taping with McConnell technique is used amongst lots of PTs. It works to an extent. I work as a pt tech and some patients greatly benefit from it some don't.
