    The first mistake in Street Racing Syndicate is buying Eibach Drift-Drop® springs and a Koni Koilover Kit for a road race build and bottoming out your suspension, because they're two incompatible parts in the same suspension slot.
    Same thing happens when you try to equip both ACT *_AND_* AEM lightweight carbon fly wheels on the same car, and they somehow fit.
    *_...and you should have spent your spare cash after winning 30 large in your first race with Eddie's GTR on nitrous instead!_*

  • @onomatopoeia_
    @onomatopoeia_ Před 4 lety +6

    Progressive sptings: the progressive srping is usually achieved by the OEM manufacturer altering the coil diameter, as opposed to the wire diameter, for ease of manufacturer and cost. On the coilover set up, however, a progressive rate is achieved by stacking two or more springs on top of each other. A progressive srping rate starts soft and then "progressively" gets harder so that the suspension starts to travel, the spring rate is soft and comfortable, soaking up small bumps and keeping the tires in contact with the road. As load increases, the spring rate also increases allowing for control in more spirited situations.
    Formula for obtaining overall spring rate is as follows.
    Spring rate1 × spring rate 2/Spring rate1 + spring rate 2
    Eg. 200×400/ 200 + 400 = 800/600 =134lbs/in

Mainly just cuz I'm a complete beginner with cars. So thank you. My car rides springy af now and I was wondering if you could help me understand why.

    I make these notes for later when buying parts and a car. Have fun at it, ladies and gents. A summery of the video
    Purchasing the suspension purely based off price alone - 1:29
    Should be based off what you would be doing with the suspension instead. - MAKE SURE YOU KNOW!!!
    There is a lot of different kinds of coilovers, spring rates, options, prices, performance type, etc.
    Do other stuff when installing your suspension - 3:30
    When taking apart your suspension and you see other damaged parts, replace and fix them. It’s not worth ignoring it and putting your coilovers back on or bad car karma will bite you in the ass while Alex will haunt you using a bedsheet. -
    Fixing them will give you MAXIMUM performance out of your suspension
    Ex.Look out for bushings, axle shafts, brake lines, lower control arm
    It is not worth cheaping out or avoiding the problem
    Doing it = worse performance
    “Going to the extreme” - 5:13
    Super high spring rate and super low coilovers = BAD IDEA for a daily driver
    (Spring Rate refers to the amount of weight it takes to compress a spring a certain distance. The higher the spring rate, the stiffer the spring. ... Some springs are non-linear, which typically means the spring gets stiffer the more you compress it.)
    Standard coilover and spring rate are a great place to start when installing new suspension for your car - For beginners getting into cars and spring tuning (coilovers)
    www.fitmentindustries.com/search-wheel-offset-gallery - check it out to get a good reference
    Getting other people’s spring rates can help lots
    IT doesn’t end after installing aftermarket suspension and the correct surrounding parts - 6:30
    You need to get an alignment to prevent excessive wear on tires and for a smoother and better ride. Generally, gives your car much better functionality.
    “For your car to function without destroying a tire or fender”.
    Especially true for people that track, with tight fitments and clean set ups.

    I drive a 1999 NB Miata.I bought "super low" option coilovers from Silvers USA thinking that I would have to thread down. Instead they shorten the body of the coilover buy sending the coilover with a smaller bottom (where the coilover mounts to the lower control arm). I still tried them on, but just the front because the rear was so small i just knew I wouldnt be able to drive my car normally. After I got them on and drove for a couple days on them I called the company (Excellent customer service by the way) and they sent me the bottoms of the coilover that I could replace on the coilover for the standard heigh that i was looking for vs what the super lows made the car sit at. So if you want your car low but not too low just make sure to ask around on how low what brand of coilover goes to the height you want to be at. The "Super Low" option on some of these $900+ coilovers will indeed put your car on the ground lol.

    so I am not sure if someone has mentioned this but if you install some new coilovers and lower it you of course have to get an alignment done but also keep in mind that since you changing suspension geometry you may need aftermarket parts to gain a correct alignment. Ex i lowered my 2000 impreza 2.5rs only 2 inches or so and I needed new rear lateral links to get my toe corrected.

      @@FitmentIndustries I love mine, so glad I got one. At first, my father and I were at the Mazda stealership, and he goes Dave what about a hatchback, i said EWW.. doesn't look good at all. So, a few years go by, and I was running around in a 2007 Mazda 3. So, one day after work, I stopped down to a stealership, and wanted to know what I'd get as in trade in value for my car. Keep in mind I was already looking for another car, because I was to the end of paying off the 07 car, and or it was already paid off and wanted another. Can't recall sorry. So, at any rate, I stopped in, they did some number crunching for me, and I walked out of the stealership late afternoon with an 11 Speed 3. I told myself it's under warrenty I'll keep it stock. Yah!, about a month later I was buying parts here in and there. I've probably dumped over close to 5 grand into it so far. Maybe more. Up here in CT, we are over run by Subarus, and Evo's and that's all people care about at these shows. I'd love to get people more aware of our cars, but I Subaru's run the gambit. I do follow some women on instagram, that I'd love to have them model with my car. and Such, just gotta find time to hit them up and what not. I plan on getting myself another Mazda, granted the SPEED is dead.. Miata's look rad, but very underpowered, for what they look like. instagram.com/theredbaronspeed3/

    If you're just looking to replace old squeaky suspension on a daily driver and would be perfectly happy to keep everything OEM, is it still so bad if you just go for the cheapest option?

    If my car keeps wanting to bottom out when I hit a bump is that due to my suspension giving out or what? It's stock suspension on a 2000 Camry and it just started to do this in the last 3 months

    When you first install coilovers should you let the springs settle before getting an alignment?

    Best lowering springs with stock shocks for daily driving a 2019 WRX Limited? Not looking for anything crazy, just half an inch to an inch of drop to fill in the wheel gap.

    • @ChrisRogersTheAngryChef
      @ChrisRogersTheAngryChef Před 4 lety +1

      On a WRX I would spend the money on coilovers and a rear swaybar. Lowering for looks is cool an' all but a full suspension set up on those cars will blow your mind. Just $1,200 and an afternoon of work (CO's are easier than springs because you don't disassemble the stock struts or use a spring compressor) will make your car so sticky you can park it on a ceiling. From the factory Subaru's have a ton of understeer because the entire engine and 1/4 of the transmission is in front of the axles= worst AWD design ever. It can be fixed with coilovers (not quite to Evo 9 status, but pretty close). New suspension will allow you to dial out the understeer by independently adjusting ride height and corner balancing pre-load via fully adjustable coilovers. So if you want to look cool, spend $180 on springs and knock your teeth out when you pull apart the stock struts. If you want to become a tarmac Samurai and double the handling and enjoyment you get from the Wrex, do what I suggest.
