What Does Being On Antidepressants / SSRIs FEEL Like?

What does it actually feel like to be taking an SSRI - the class of medication commonly prescribed for treating depression and anxiety? Do they change your personality or make you feel different in the way that alcohol, coffee, or marijuana do?

I've tried almost every SSRI out there, and they ALL cause major weight gain for me, which has caused me to discontinue treatment. I've never been able to find a solution to this problem.

What about short-lived SSRIs, like Dapoxetine? Have you tried that?

What do you think about controlled MDMA therapy sessions? It seems very promising. I had taken it without therapy and still had relief from depression for a long time, kinda like a quick rest in your brain. Obviously it's not something you can take regularly but combining it with therapy like 2-3 times a year could benefit people who suffer from depression and PTSD.

Can I ask why you didn't continue with Sertraline?

Oh man ... I've been on quite a few of these. Sertraline was added to Vyvanse when ADHD was my diagnosis. When I came off Vyvanse my doctor swapped me over to Lexapro as well. Unfortunately I don't recall the reason. They had pretty much the same pros and cons for me although I took them at different dosages (Zoloft at minimum and Lexapro at the FDA max).

There's no simple answer to that question, I'm afraid. They all have slightly different effects and prescriber preference also plays a large role in determining that.

NO two people have the same reaction. The symptoms can be total opposite. Plus contrary to popular belief they do not know how they work its all guessing.
