    I’ve watched your stuff for a while and I’m so pleased to see you’re making all of this progress! It’s quite encouraging. You also present fairly different compared to earlier videos, more flow and relaxation (?) in your communication. Keep up all the hard work!

      Thanks, Emma! I'm really glad I can be a source of some encouragement. And I'm very happy to hear that I present differently. I feel that I'm a more pleasant version of myself. I hope things are going well for you too!

    Hi Jake!
    Glad to hear that your new medications are working for you! Thinking about how you are doing. I sent you an email about 1-2 weeks ago. It sounds like there is more positive purpose and some peace in your thoughts! Going through some stress myself and can't sleep. I am like an owl. Sleep during the day and active at night! They need to create a pill for instant sleep! I always like to listen to experiences about anxiety and mental health. Moving will be interesting because you will be in your own environment and you can come and go and do what you want! Peace-Jack

    I know it may be cliche to say but you are so strong & resilient, Jake!! I find that each of your videos are packed with value! To hear your experience with feeling the value & happiness in your life -- it's indescribable & I'm very happy for you. These are gigantic milestones in terms of wellbeing.
    I'm personally continuing to "keep trying" alongside you -- moving out for the first time in June too! B-)

    Hey Jake. I am really happy to hear that! I found your channel when I got the AvPD diagnosis myself and started to research it. I was taken by your coherent and honest way of describing your life and all the mundane things that comes with a diagnosis and what do with it. I am glad that antidepressants are working for you. They have been my saving grace for years and I always have to quiet myself when friends are talking about feeling well enough to quit their medications. I understand the yearning of being free of medication, but I know the hell I could be in without them.
    Anyway, that feeling of wanting to live and having a semblance of purpose and happiness is something I am so glad you're feeling - cause it's why we live, to feel that! I am in a similar place. I am actually in Schema therapy for AvPD and I am really liking it. I don't think you can find much more like-minded people than other AvPD people :p We are ALL creatives, we are all very much concerned about the others' comfort etc, I am sure you can imagine :)

    • @JakeAvPD
      @JakeAvPD  Před rokem +2

      Thank you :) It sounds like you've been doing pretty well since your diagnosis, which is awesome! It's also really cool to hear that you're liking schema therapy, I've heard good things about it from others with AvPD as well. I'm definitely interested in looking more into possible options for it in my area, depending on how the DBT venture turns out.
      And yeah, totally agree, I would really love to meet some others with AvPD in-person some time! Fingers crossed more than one of us decides to leave our house at the same time :)

    Happy to hear you've found a medication that works for you. I also had tried two different anti-depressants without getting relief. Much later I took Cymbalta for musculoskeletal pain, but after a few weeks noticed that I had less anxiety. After about a month or so, the effects seemed to diminish so I got the dose raised, which has helped. While it hasn't really made me happy, it has made me less likely to wade in suicidal depression. The main effect I notice day to day is a lot less anxiety and the ability to engage in my interests more. Wishing you all the best with your continued journey!

    Hey Jake, I'm happy for you that you're able to move out and live on your own. Moving out from your parent's home is an important step and will give you some awesome growth opportunities. BUT please keep in mind, that living alone can get anxious or avoidant people in a terrible isolation spiral. The never ending silence may also drive you nuts and make you feel very, very lonely. That's just a kind warning because I experienced this myself...

      Hello! Unfortunately antidepressants are very much still a guessing game-what works for me may not for you. However, I would say that the potential benefit means that it's very much worth trying the prescriptions your doctor recommends. I tried many that did not work before finding one that did, and it was a difficult process, but completely worth it. Best of luck :)

      @@JakeAvPD yes, I know it. Any way an avpd is treatable by therapy more than taking some drugs include antidepressant, um I will ask you how long did you get medicine? If you don't consume an Antidepressant how do you feel? My depression is bigger than anxiety, at first my doctor give me benzodiazepine but it not work to me.

      It's called Duloxetine, and thankfully no side effects! Of course, each person reacts differently to each medication. The five I tried before have helped many other people, just not me, so unfortunately it can be a long process to find the one that works for you.

      @@JakeAvPD What do you need antidepressants for, when you're not depressed? Doesn't it just make it less fun with those antidepressants?I took a total of about 9 months of drug consumption, at the beginning of the first month I took benzodiazepines and antipsychotics too, then I stopped. Because you don't want to be addicted and it's not suitable. Do you feel comfortable with the drug? If you don't drink what happens?

      @@JakeAvPD Even my psychiatrist, he also has an avpd disorder, which he is now recovering well, I don't think he's taking medication for it. It could be that I don't even need medication because I'm not even me when I take medication, lots of medications have been prescribed, antidepressants, anti-anxiety, antipsychotics too and nothing works. I have conveyed this complaint to the doctor, I have become increasingly weak and sleepy, he suggested trying not to drink it if you feel more fit and energized. Because antidepressants make you more relaxed so you can't be excited and happy.
