- This DIY PS4 repair video shows users how to remove a disc that is stuck in a PS4 game console. Playstation 4's all have manual eject screws. Many people think that Sony took the manual eject feature out with the 1200, 1215 models but they did not. It's still there just hidden under the hard drive.
Whether you have a 1001, 1115, 1215, etc. PS4 this video will show you every step needed to remove the stuck disc from your console's disc drive.
If the manual eject screw does not work on your PS4 then the disc drive is likely broken and needs repair.

I just wanted to say thank you. 5 years later and this is still very helpful. The online directions make it appear you only turn it a couple times and the disc should come out. Watching you say how long it actually takes saved me from giving up and just shipping it off to Sony.

I did this for 10 minutes. Started to take the whole ps4 apart.
Realised there wasn't a disc in my ps4 to start with.
Slowly resembled the ps4.

I just want to say Thank you so much. My PS4 is like 5 years old, and didn't have on problem at all. I keep it clean, the whole nine yards. And I was going to play Days Gone about 20 minutes ago, and I was trying to get the disc out to log into MK11. Anyways, I hit the eject button, both from the controller and the manual. This guy is awesome! I have a couple tips in case anyone else has the same problem(s). I have the 1200 model and after i slipped the hard drive out, it was really hard to see the screw in the hole, just make sure u feel it catch, then my felt was really stiff from being so old. You may need to seperate it a bit. And after i slipped the hard drive back in i powered up and it couldnt read the hdd, so make sure ur hard drive is snug in there and everything should be good

@@thefacelessquestion3333 For me I haven't had to do it again. Maybe I got lucky but after I did this, my PS4 would take disks in and out of the console just a little slower than normal. And that was over a year and a half ago for me.

i have not got a proper screwdriver, but i did cut a thin piece of plastic in shape to manage to turn the little screw 4 or 5 times before bending to much, then I connected my ps4, and it just ejected the disk as if nothing wound have happened.

Can confirm it worked. It took awhile but that's because my ps4 is very old and I guess the mechaism is giving out.
Keep trying it. Remember to twist it to the left, NOT the right. Right deletes your progress in successfully removing the disc.

Look at the vents on the side, the screw is in the vent that is on its own
its in a vent hole under where hes pointing i had to dust mine off with a soft brush cuz it was a lil dusty so i couldnt see it at first

My PS4 died a year ago and since recently I got a PS5 in Christmas and I didn't see my GT Sport being on its box, I assumed it was inside still which I got scared since the PS4 is not longer working. But thanks to you I was able to recover the disc and I can play back this game! ^^

Hey thanks! The first video I watched didn't show well how to get the cover off the HD so this was nice to see that done properly. Also, didn't say that you had to turn that screwdriver a ton either and so I was bummed for awhile until I watched this one that showed it took awhile. Thanks! Both videos don't show the screw needing to be retightened afterwards, so I'm assuming it just turns the rollers but doesn't tighten or loosen anything. Appreciate the help!

@@isosteenkamp4387 Yep don't keep pushing ! I solved the problem by shaking the PS4 upside down (not too strong) while touching the extract button (if the extract button doesn't work, remove the case and touch directly the copper piece which is extracting the cd). The game will get out little by little.
That was the easy solution, but not the real one. To make sure it will never happen again, you have to extract the cd player of the PS4, and to clean the little rolls inside it. The problem is that those rolls are not clean or even not in place so the cd can't be put in or out normally.
If you want a video of this, TronicsFix shows how to do in his video where he tried to repair 12 PS4.
Best piece of advice was to keep turning til you see the disc come out. It takes longer than one might expect. Thanks for the video!

Mum_Of_A_Zoo hey so there is a problem I have the original ps4 launch edition and the thing does not pop off so idk what to do
Me Me I have same problem and it just happened about a half hour ago I had it since launch as well without this ever happening my disc didn't even want to go into the system beforehand I'm hoping I don't have to send it the Sony USA headquarters in California to get it out and replace that disc drive if that has stoped working correctly.
TronicsFix Does this trick work on the launch 500 gb PS4 models because I have one of those and just happened to me about a half hour ago after working fine since I got it back when Batman Arkham Knight came also my disc didn't even want to go into the system itself if that helps you understand my problem any better.
I really hope that I don't have send it Sony's USA headquarters out in California to get this fix at this time of year since I might not have the money right now to paid the bill if they charged me to fix this or get the part that's broken replace.

It specifically says that 1200 models you turn clockwise. I'm having the same problem. I've sat and turned for 15 minutes and I can feel the screwdriver catch and it seems to be working, the disc just wont budge.

Thxs fixed my problem. There is nothing stuck in my PS4, but it would not except my disk when I tried to put it in there so I guess my rollers were just jammed so basicly moved them around a bunch with the screw and now it works fine again. Thxs! Also one question. Do I have to put the screws back to where I think it was or does it not matter since it works differently than the normal screw. Basically do I have to move the screw back to where it was or no
Normally you don't have to. It's actually not a screw...it just turns a gear.

I had to buy a tool kit as I didnt have a screw driver that would fit in the gap you mentioned but once I brought one that fit it was so easy to do. It was my bo3 disc that was stuck and all my games I do have are disc copies. I was close to buying another ps4 since I still have the orginal one but you've just saved me money on having to buy a new. At first I didnt know what was going on but I cant thank you enough for this info and right in time for the 2nd week of the beta for BO4.
