- I Bought a PALLET of BROKEN PS4's - How Many Can I Fix? I paid $2,387 for a pallet of 22 broken PS4's. There ended up being 15 PS4 Originals, 4 PS4 Slims, and 3 PS4 Pros. I started with fixing the PS4 originals first and had amazing luck with them. I did some cleaning and removed something stuck in a disc drive but no serious problems. The Slims needed more repairs such as a glitching display, a disc drive that wouldn't accept a disc, and a broken eject button. The 3 PS4 Pros were also mostly working fine except for a disc drive that wouldn't accept a disc.

About This Video: I bought a salvage lot of 22 broken PS4s to see how many I could fix. The 15 PS4 originals were mostly working already with only a few minor fixes and cleaning needed. The PS4 Slims and Pros got a little more tricky thought with some disc drive issues, a broken eject button, and a crazy glitching display problem. Overall a pretty good lot. I only wish they all were this good.

Hello, to anyone reading this, this is pretty typical. if these consoles were an easy fix - bad hard drives, failed power supply, filed timer chip, etc, it would be done already. instead they put all the difficult or heavily water damaged one together to sell in lots to hopeful newbie techs.
Plot twist, the guy who sold these to you had a broken hdmi port on his tv.

Not gonna lie, I used to have a 70" flat screen. It started having problems with the picture going in and out. I sent that fkn thing in to get serviced 3 times!! Turns out nothing was wrong with the TV at all. It was the g.d. HDMI cable đ€Šââïž

Just from an environmental point of view it is insane how many near perfect consoles are just thrown away like this.

Number 16 might just have defective RAM, so you should try reflowing/replacing the RAM chips. Only the 3D layer looks broken, while the text looks fine, so it's probably not the HDMI encoder or port. In fact, it looks like a PC graphics card with broken or excessivelly-overclocked VRAM (which can cause data corruption and confuse the GPU, so it renders garbage).
As a computer technician, I must say I love this channel, mainly cause I love fixing things, I also like to see how other people go through the troubleshooting methodology. Definitely be teaching me some things.

Yeah, like I just answered to somebody else, I always wondered if he tests Nintendo Switch in docks. Iâm pretty sure he never found one that had no video output while everything else was fine. But if I look online, it seems to be a frequent issue with people that used bad docks / chargers. Iâm wondering if some not broken Switch had in fact no video output.
Honestly, it'd make for a cool video series.
And that way people could fully test the refurbished units they buy, so an unknown issue that they don't know how to look for, doesn't suddenly bite them in the ass.
I think itâs worth warning people that this is not âtypicalâ when buying broken items on eBay. Generally the items you buy as lots that are âbrokenâ are much more likely to be unrepairable. If genuine this was a fairly fortunate purchase. And even so with no pads and no leads there is not a huge profit to be made selling these.

Eh? he's just a regular electronics repairman who happens to make videos documenting challenges he take on, but most of what he does is normal fixes in your every-day repair-shop.
Who's that seller? I'd really like to buy from him a "broken" ps4. Although, those might be stolen ps4s , that's why they are listed as broken while almost completely fine.
No, actually these sellers intentionally list some of them as broke to attract people who think they can fix them which can help to get rid of them quickly
The issue more is broken may not be immediate under longer term use.
Powering on, starting a game, playing for a little bit wont reveal problems that happen after a few hours such as heat expansion.

I was looking down and heard that PS4 and immediately looked up and by now I'd say that's my hope sound after taking it apart and wishing for the best after putting it back together
Found this channel yesterday, and now I've awakened and urge to repair some consoles myself!
In some countries including mine. If you return a product in an opened box the shop can not legally sell it as new anymore. So depending on how the company deals with customer returns, when it says "broken/refurbished" It could just be a brand new fully working customer returned device. Some companies simply get rid of all customer returns as broken without even checking it. While other companies send all their customer returns to a refurbisher.

Yeah I would like at least one FULL test with all the little things. Iâm not asking it on all of them, but one would be nice.
Like taking the time to check Bluetooth and WiFi, all the USB ports and the Ethernet port. Maybe even loading a game like Tomb Raider which is really GPU intensive even on the menu, so you can let it sit for a while and see how it reacts when it heats up (but I know that he doesnât do that test on all consoles, it would be too long).
Same thing on the Switch. I know that he checks plugged Joycons and unplugged Joycons and that he checks the touchscreen and the card reader, but it would be nice to see a full checkup, including stuff like the headphone jack and the SD card reader. OH AND A BIG ONE THAT HE NEVER SEEMS TO LOOK FOR ON THE SWITCH : if it works in a dock. Using a Switch on a bad dock sometimes doesnât prevent it from charging, but stop it from outputting video from the USB C port.

Reminds me of the 50 âbrokenâ Mac books I bought. None were broken just all had stickers said property of XX school district. I contacted confirmed not stolen they were upgraded to new so gave old one away to a charity. Which sold to recycling which is where I bought them for scrap plus 10%

I collect video games and consoles. I save ALOT of money by buying broken consoles and repairing them. Also save lots buying broken retro cartridge games and fixing them as well. Love this kind of content as it has helped me with some of my own repairs.
