Also in late 2007, Strings signed an agreement with the Gibson Guitar Corporation; they and the Pakistani rock band Jal were the first South Asian bands to have a working relationship with the guitar manufacturer. 🎸

You mentioned the connection between the spiritual and the emotional in Pakistani culture. Actually, it is an essential theme that runs like a thread through the tradition of Islamic spirituality (sufism), which is based on the relation between the human soul (latin: anima) and the divine spirit (latin: spiritus) 'breathed' in humans. The spiritual is the root of the human soul, and the human soul reflects it. The relation between the soul and the spirit is vertical, and that between parts of the soul or two souls is horizontal. This is in fact an essential concept in all authentic religions, and even ancient Greek philosophy, which is rooted in spirituality. In the Islamic tradition we speak of ʿishq-i majāzī (metaphorical love) and ʿishq-i ḥaqīqī (real love). The first refers to earthly love which is a reflection of the higher 'true' love of God, and that's why it is called metaphorical love -- both majāzī and its translation 'metaphor' etymologically mean 'that which carries beyond'.
This reflective interplay of human and spiritual love can be found throughout Islamic spiritual poetry, and it expresses profound meaning, which sometimes takes extensive commentary to disclose. On a more simple level, the common Muslim will always see romantic love as something that is a blessing from God, and so it's not separate from his relation to God. Let me give you two instances of deep poetry. The first is from the sufi (mystic) Jami (d. 1492),
I said to my rose-cheeked lovely, “O you with a rosebud mouth,
Why keep hiding your face, like flirting girls?”
She laughed and said, “Unlike the beauties of your world,
In the veil I’m seen, but without it I’m hidden.”
The second instance will surprise you. It's from the poetry of the leader of the Islamic revolution in Iran, the cleric-mystic Ruhollah Khomeini (d. 1989), who the Western media portrays as a brute fundamentalist:
The Bright Rays of the Sun
    by Ruhollah Khomeini
“The meadow lark sings a glad tiding:
the season of Spring has returned.
    The season for wine drinking
and for kisses has returned .
At last the time of withering
    and melancholy has gone.
    The days for a caress
of your sweetheart’s waist have returned.
At last the time of death,
    decay and ruin has gone.
Life, with two hundred images and sights
    has returned.
    The meadow’s wan yellow face
has since packed up and gone.
Rosebuds in the sun’s bright rays
    to blossoms have returned.
    The cup-bearer, the tavern,
    the troubadour, clapping of hands,
And a fancy for the curl of a tress
of a dear one have returned.
If you pass the gate of the seminary
    tell the cleric
    If he would be taught
the rosy cheeked girl has returned.
    Close the shop of asceticism
    during this season of joy,
For the strain that the tar plays
has again to our ears returned.”

Faisal Kapadia is in the game for about 30 years. He produced music for Bollywood and Hollywood too.
He with his band Strings also produced 6 seasons of coke studio Pakistan.

This song was magnificent on another level as it possibly foreshadows the future of Faisal Kapadia (and his band Strings).
Strings has dominated South Asian music scene for last 30ish years, but the band broke up about 2 years ago. Fans are hopeful of a reunion and this song Phir Milenge (We'll meet again) points to a possible reuniting soon.
Strings was also the producer of Seasons 7 to 12 of Coke Studio. They are the band of the entire millennial generation in Pakistan/India.

Hey Efra your pronunciation of the urdu words were spot on. Just FYI there has been a pop song in the 90s from Fakher called Dil Ruba where he did collaboration with a Latino Artist Antonio Segura. Do check it out. Also some of the recent songs with clear Spanish Influence are Jane Bahaaran from Coke Studio Season 10 and Mehbooba from Nescafe Basement Season 5. These are amazing songs and you should definitely react on them.

The song was mesmerizing from the second it started till the end. The music production platform used many calming yet deep resounding instruments throughout the track, which created a bitter feeling that the season was indeed coming to its end.
The inclusion of an orchestra in the middle of the song was a cherry on top!

Pakistani music is all about lyrics..and since it's a Muslim country that practice monotheism...the concept of oneness of Allah Almighty (GOD)...asking from God , communicating with God, resting matters (pain) to God is often reflected in lyrics... powerful lyrics is what Pakistanis fall for hence strong lyrics

  • @ullaskrishnan79

That concept of love comes from Sufism where a lot of times love is love of God...I am not an expert in Sufism so if someone wants to throw more opinion, I welcome it but I think it's that which adds to that ethreal quality of love

It brought an old split band's member (Faisal Kapadia) with the new flourishing rap duo (Young Stunners). Super nostalgic. Put me to tears. The lyrics, the ambiance, the name of the song, it all felt like a legend passing on the baton to the newer generation.
