  • In the grand scheme of the history of Westeros House Thorne play a minor role with much of there history not documented. But the role they do play is still very interesting specifically the Kingsguard knight Ser Rickard Throne whom was active during the Targaryen Civil War known as the dance of the dragons and Ser Alliser Thorne whom fought for House Targaryen during Robert's Rebellion joining The Night's Watch afterward playing a role in the main books specifically during Jon Snow and other Nights Watch based characters.

    If Alliser Thorne only knew who Jon actually was…bro would literally be his Stilgar.

    That was an excellent summation. Told the story surrounding Alistar a little differently, and as usual, better.

    1st to take the Black for House Blackfyre🗡
    What happened with Ser Rickard is such a tragedy it's gonna be rough if they have it in the show.

      I wonder how H.o.T.D will portray Bitterbridge and curious if they do it in Season 2 or a 3rd season? Reading about Bitterbridge really disturbed me in Fire & Blood.

      You're just some Traitor. Daeron The Good completed the conquest without a single loss!
      Damon just lost a lot then died

      @@ruairiodonohoe2533 that was more Baelor work than him. King Daemon Blackfyre could have won if his honor wasn't taken advantage of.

    I find it interesting Alliser was given the option of being executed or being sent to the wall, Tywin after all was the one who captured him... considering Robert basically Pardoned all of those who bent the knee, he was never given the option because it was Tywin who sacked King's Landing... how many people did Rob send to the wall after the war was won? Tywin trying to exert some long overdue effort after remaining in Casterly Rock for much of the war except for the end...

    Imagine if Thorne didn’t betray Jon (he didn’t in the book he wasn’t there) and found out Jon was the rightful heir to the iron throne 😂

    An unexpected entry, house Thorne isn't very prominent in the story, with only Alliser and Rickard showing up, but each time, initially in the service of King's Landing and on the losing side of a large conflict. Wonder if those thorns prick inwards at times.

    Now seeing the coat of arms. I see it's the farmer's flail and not a knight's weapon which makes it even cooler in my opinion. it means the opposite of the Gray Joys. They do sow the land and read with the Harvest. and defend what they create.
    Perhaps I'm simply interpreting Vinland Saga farmland. Those who grow the Farms are good and those who take are bad.

    What a choice! Execution or take the black?! I guess Tywin didn’t want a Daemon type of situation with the gold cloaks.

    Why am I not surprised that a Thorne would side with the greens?

    • @m.williams4971
      @m.williams4971 Před měsícem +1

      You shouldn’t be. Then again, with so little known about the house(except they were not lords paramount based on Alistar’s mocking of Jon’s upbringing), and something must have happened in the past to side with ‘the greens’ and King Aenys. I’m thinking they were geographically in a precarious position such that siding with whomever held the crownlands at the time would be the house they’d side with. Probably owned a keep in that area??
