Did this crazy uphill week ago, it is definitely one of the toughest, my garmin was showing more than 10% all the time (beside the one flat section). I don’t recommend this if you are already after 200km and 2500 of climbing that day ;)
If you keep posting those epic Norway videos, i swear to you i will have to try it myself someday (awesome job btw) ! As a canadian, i know cycling in cold weather can be hard, but all the more rewarding for the tenacious ;) Chapeau my friend !
I hiked up Dalsnibba, toll was closed and didn't have a bike, but it was an amazing trip up and down because it gave time to look at all the beauty all the way. Can imagine it would take so much longer going up Juvasshytta, would have to stop and wipe away the tears from the beauty of this amazing place, it's now on my list.
wOw! Thnx for sharing. Sitting under a blanket, sick, and dreaming of walking the mountains. Not many days left with beautiful colours up her at 69th parallell. But again, w O w! Thnx for sharing, as a Norwegian, I've never been up there. I now has it as a goal, NOT biking, but hiking. Looking forward to your next adventure. Thank you from Arctic Norway 👋👋
Thanks for the video! Today i ended Oslo to Stavanger by the coast bikepacking trip (eurovelo 12), thanks to your videos they inspired me. The weather was great, 7/7 days were sunny :)
Epic! There's not too many can make it up 15 km at an average of 10%. Heh heh. Glad to see you have a climbing buddy, things are better shared, and hill climbing is somehow easier when your pal is there too. Great stuff as always, thank you Matthew.
You cycled up this road?!! Wow 😮! It took my breath away when I drove it up by car. I sent my OAP mum and partner up there (by car!) just to see the spectacular view. Like me, they’d never been up there before. Well done for cycling up! Respect😅
To allow my head to get around this - it's a climb that's not quite twice as far, but over twice as high, and 3% steeper than Scotland's famous Bealach na Ba...amazing. I'm game!
I rode this climb two times during Viking Tour. Epic. I hate it and I love it. But the finish line was always 1 k before the end of the road. As a result, I never noticed that there is a cabin up there. With waffles 😅
Another outstanding video production and epic climb. Tourism Norway better be paying you because most viewers are sold on a trip there. Or at least me. 😬
That makes two of us. Not sure if I will make it to the land of my ancestors but I have been blessed to slowly discover so much of where and how I want to experience it through you. Thank you Matthew!
Thanks for a soo impressed cykling up there! Respect! 😊👍🏁 I took the car up there and then climbed with ropet in a group up to the top of Galdoepiggen! 🏔
How about Stalheimskleiva, Matthew? It's currently closed, apparently for good, but you've got contacts at Statens vegvesen nowadays, don't you? It really ought to be open for hikers and bicyclists.
I walked that road. That was hard enough But luckily, they served Rømmegrøt at the cabin, so I got the energy needed to walk back down again. Sweat freezing on your back? What kind of fabrics are you wearing?
@@matthewnorway Yeah, I know it's very different. When I cycle in the winter, I try to keep it cool. I get off the bike and walk most uphills(not an option on that road... ) to minimise the sweating. Have you considered a 'Helsetrøye' as the inner layer?
Hi Matthew, It seems to me you have too hard gears for such climbing. The bike you have is a gravel, right? The typical touring bike has a much wider range of gear, especially the soft gears for climbing. See the gearing in trek 520, for example. Best wishes
That is a monumental climb, especially for a cyclist! My cousin's car barely made it when we went to climb Galdhøpiggen.
Yeah it’s not easy for old cars too!
"Brutal"
I was there in 2021 to summit Galdhøpiggen, its such a nice road.

Far out - no warm up either. That was epic indeed - of course they saw awe is good for us. Mark
Hats off, such a great adventure. Nearly missed my train stop because I was so engrossed into it… 😂

It certainly surprises you how spectacular it is up there! 🏔☀️
This is amazing. Now I'm missing Norway!
Wow! What a climb!
It is indeed 🏔
Your videos are unreal! Thank you.

What! You missed out on the cafe at the top. Someone should of told you!
Epic ride matthew, you are a monster cyclist 👍🇮🇪 what views
Thanks John 👍
Beautiful video as always. Thank you.
👍
Well I know where my next road trip is gonna be!
I was there by motorcycle this year, end of august ... A lovely 8°C and blue skies at the Jyvasshytta. Impressive climb though for cyclists, respect!!
Another outstanding video production and epic climb. Tourism Norway better be paying you because most viewers are sold on a trip there. Or at least me. 😬
Unfortunately, they don't pay anything.
such an underrated channel. 10% avg! you should get into backcountry skiing, norway has some of the best in that world i hear.
It does indeed!
Was 12 the first time I went to the top of Galdhøpiggen, was so amazed that there was a cafe there xD
I enjoy your videos, and get dead-tired watching 😝 Keep the videos coming - la videoene strømme på.
Glad you got tired watching 😆
@@matthewnorway watching you and Tour de France/Vuelta Espana/Giro d'Italia 😝
Excelente videos inspiring and entertaining! i'm glad i found this channel
Thanks for watching 🙂

Wow, paragliding up there sounds pretty epic!
Thanks for a soo impressed cykling up there! Respect! 😊👍🏁

That's sounds like a great way to spend your day!
Another fantastic video :-)
Thanks Kenneth 👍
Unreal! Really great content!
Purely magical!! Thank you so much for sharing this POV with us!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fantastic video! And I’m not even a cyclist. Keep it up!
Goodness!!
Thanx for the ride :) Good memories!
Thanks for the brutal ride Eirik 🚴🏻♂️🚴🏻♂️💦
Awesome! 🎉
Amazing 😍
Best view 🚴🏋️

Au chapeau sir.
I'm surprised that whole area at the top isn't glaciated. 1800m is above the permanent snow line at that latitude.
@3:55 I`ve done it once and I agree; brutal is the only word that describes it!
Glad we agree!

Sweat freezing on your back?
What kind of fabrics are you wearing?
Cycling base layer - mixture of wool and synthetic but hiking and cycling are very different when it comes to keeping warm.

I actually gasped at 0:07.
It’s quite the road 🏔
My car was struggling going up there when we went last month...

Flott film og slitsom stigning😅
Takk Karl 👍
"Like a moon" ... which moon did you have in mind?
That ice and liquid water is a bit confusing for us Earthlings used to our bareren one.
I was thinking Titan. Beneath Titan's thick crust of water ice is more liquid-an ocean primarily of water rather than methane
Have you cycled Aursjøvegen from Eidsvåg to Sunndalsøra in Møre og Romsdal?
Yes, czcams.com/video/p8Oq-rlMFdE/video.html
On the downhill, were your brakes smoking?
No, I changed the brake pads before we went up and kept letting go of them when I could. But you could easily burn the disc with warn pads.
