- Driving with my new friend, I was going to a car show. But we got hit by the storm. In the rain, we installed a wiper on my bus. I saw the wiper in action for the first time on my bus! It was working great. Great to have a friend who loves the same hobby.
No matter what happens, it is the VW Bus life we should enjoy.

Make sure you empty your parcel tray of everything, and just let the water run out the holes in the floor. Use Rain-X for the wind screens. Fuel vapor lock on the stall with low idle. Driving in cool moist weather is better for an old bus than the heat. Carry on. Drive your bus every day. It’s good for you.

I had a 1960 bus painted the same as yours, drove it to college from Santa Clara, Northern California to San Diego on a brand new Interstate's 5, only one place to get gas on over 500 miles. I had a bigger engine so i was able to do about 65, on the flats, 2nd gear over the "grapevine"
My life in USA started in CA. LA, SF Bay area in mid 1080's. I can imagine how nice it could be driving bus on California freeway down to San Diego. I like California! Thank you for your comment.
My 1958 T1 also has safari windows. They also leaked at first. Now I lubricate the rubbers with Vaseline and the problem is solved.
Always dry the gutters around the bus after a rain shower before storing the bus inside. this prevents rust formation in the gutter.
Hopefully you will enjoy driving an old bus as much as I do.
Thank you so much for the new tip! I didn't know and no one told me the Vaseline trick! I will try that next time. (But I hope I don't need to drive in the rain again.) I usually wipe and dry everything inside and out after a rain. Thank you very much for your comment and support.
I can imagine if you live somewhere where it doesn't rain much that this is not a well-known thing, where I live (the Netherlands) it rains regularly and I still want to be able to go out by bus even when the weather is less nice, otherwise it will be in the garage and that is not what the bus is for.

ウインカーを操作するときに本体が回ってしまうから根本で操作するんですよね。同じです。
根本の押さえつける中のU字のパーツがバカになってるんですが、それををひっくり返したらネジ2本でしっかり固定されました。
でもそのうち緩むんでいまだに根本でそーっとウインカーは触ってます。
そうなんですよー。良くあるみたいで、自分のバスも同じだと言うコメントをもらったことがあります。そのうちゴムシートか何かかませて締め付けてみようと思っています。

パーコレーションが続いている様ですね。オイルサンプ追加って手もありますが・・・先ずは「エアースクープ」付けて、エンジンリッドの隙間をあけると、コンパートメント内の温度はかなり下がります。リアバンパーが付いてる車両だと、リッドとバンパーの隙間にクッション材を挟んで簡単に留められるのですが、現状、バンパー無しだと、何か金具を自作して、リッドを少し浮かした状態で固定出来る工夫が必要です。コンパートメント内へ入ってきたフューエルラインには断熱材（ベルクロ（マジックテープ）付きで、ホースを包むタイプがあります）を巻いた方が良いかと。後、デスビのインナーカバーが付いてないなら、デスビキャップ裏側の汚れ防止に有用なので、付けた方が良いですよ。サファリのノッチはしっかり閉めないと、走行中の風圧で更に雨漏りします。

インナーカバーは国内だと千円位で売ってますね。エアースクープは、ボディーにネジ開けて固定するタイプとエアインテーク部のリブに引っかける透明な素材の物があります。自作で作って使ってますが、効果絶大ですよ。FBの空冷馬鹿の方に商品のリンクを貼っておきました。

The reason your wiper does not park properly is probably because you have a 12V wiper motor from a bug installed with a 6V wiring harness. The ‘68 bug wiper motor has the same dimensions as an early bus and will bolt up properly to the linkage, but the 12V wiper motor is 2 speed and has different terminals-your bus’s wiring harness doesn’t match up. In hindsight, a better way to do the 6V to 12V conversion is to replace only the armature of the 6V wiper motor with a 12V armature. It’s OK-my ‘65 bus does the same thing-you will learn to time the switch to park the blades.😀
