  • The beauty of Landscape photography is that you never know what you are going to find, the conditions, the light, reflections, or no reflections. This is exactly what I love about it.

Capturing the ever changing light. And with long exposure the smoothness and details that our eyes fail to see. No photo is identical no matter how much we try to imitate it, that's what keeps me motivated to keep shooting.

Like you, I enjoy the times between the shutter press and the end of the exposure. It gives me time to be someone else than the photographer. During a sixty second exposure last week, a small racoon walked along the shore and right under my tripod as I stood still. It didn't seem to notice me as it nuzzled the plants near my feet. If I had been moving and planning a composition I don't think the encounter would have happened. Thanks Attilio!

I think this is a good lesson in what photography is all about for many amateurs. We may not be out for a photo-only excursion. We are out walking or hiking or may be on holiday and we have a short instance to do some photography, so we make due with the conditions we have. I think the idea is to recognize this and develop your skills to make the best of a given situation.

Great video and I'm loving the regular content again. Just one point... that small area of blinkies that was flashing wouldn't have clipped in the raw file. The in-camera histogram is for the jpeg preview. I realise you'll know this but for educational purposes you show the reduction in exposure to get rid of the blinkies, but just thought I'd point it out. Long exposures after sundown is tricky because of course ambient light is fading fast and you have to compensate. I did a ten minute exposure the other night about 20 minutes after sunset... think it was my longest ever. Even then the histogram was more left than I'd have liked... very nearly clipped shadows 🤣

Great video, scenery and music. Can I ask what is the author and title of the music at the beginning of the video?

Uno dei posti drl cuore. Se il fisico lo permette vale la pena salire ancora al lago di Pietra Rossa e alla cima della Becca Pougnenta. Un caro saluto da un appassionato!
