I’m honestly perturbed that the Galaxy class never received quantums. One would assume that since they were available during the dominion war, and it was one of the strongest ships of the time that they would have done that retrofit.
They should never have destroyed the Enterprise D in Generations. They should have just refit the galaxy class. The flagship was only seven years old when it was destroyed but they’re still using Excelsior and Miranda class ships from the last century.
Agree. But perhaps it because we didn't saw anymore of her screentime since generation and ds9. But it would be much better if she have them on ST picard last episode.
@@michaelmunsey5660 agree, but that couldn't be helped, since there's already enterprise E waiting on the list. I believe only one 'Enterprise' "official"-ly allowed at one time. The Galaxy class still serves as starfleet battle group omega primary's "Big Gun" on 2379, during Battle of Bassen Rift, ST Nemesis, in a failed attempt to rendezvous w/ the E to fight the Scimitar. The borg cube is 4km a side and has firepower greater then half the federation starfleet. Its exhaust port is Ray shielded so you'll have to use Quantum Torpedoes which won't arrive until tuesday. Maybe do that in a cloaked ship and just watch, since it seemed to take you out first without touching any of the others! Still not sure they would win, but basically it killed you not all of them.
It always does that for unknown reasons, the AI in STBC is either designed to destroy the player first or the player has higher priority Being in a ship smaller than the others or going on red alert late seems to help?
This an anachronism. By the time all the original Galaxy frames were built, it was the Dominion War. Most should have been refitted to the DW standard. I think then you would win. With 50% of them in the DW refit. Quantum Torpedoes make all the difference.
"According to Star trek Lore, there were 7 Galaxy class starships constructed" I think if you go watch the Dominion Wars in DS9, you will easily be able to count far more than 7 Galaxy Class ships in the huge battles that took place during the re taking of Cardassian space.
True. I meant up until the dominion war era. Gene Roddenberry stated initially there was 6. Then additional ones were constructed. I don’t think there is a completely definitive number. 🖖
From the Deep Space Nine season 6 episode "Sacrifice of Angels" we get a pretty good indication of the massive expansion of Galaxy class shipbuilding from this excerpt from the transcript: "SISKO: It is also an opportunity and we may not get another one. Ensign, have Galaxy wings nine one and nine three engage those destroyers. All other ships, head for that opening. Anyone who gets through doesn't stop until they reach Deep Space Nine. (In they go, Galaxy-class firepower helping make the gap wide enough for the Defiant and her companions.)"
Crikey I loved it.. I know was an Assimilation Cube and the Ent D.. well the Borg was only firing on you.. that was wicked.. all the ships firing.. wow.. unless.. you fly in the Cube like Data did from within.. hmm.. that would be good to see. loved the battle Captain.. You still did good.. amazing battle.. ! 😊🖖
The way I like to do tests like this is to sit in a cloaked defiant and let the AI decide who wins. That way your ship getting taken out doesnt end the battle.
A disappointing result. The Daystrom Institute calculated your chances of surviving should increase proportional to the cube of the number ships deployed. Obviously, these calculations were galaxies off!
You were gutted because the Cube was focusing its weapons onto you. Had it more evenly divided its firepower to other ships and you survived longer, you could have potentially destroyed it.
Possible vid idea - every current Galaxy Class type/variant in RE against an Assimilation Cube? The Galaxy MK II, Valentine, Yamamoto-A, Europa, Titan variant, Temporal Galaxy (UniMod I), Venture, etc 😅
Where does it say there are only 13 galaxy class ships? Cause i think there were more then that in the DS9 episode where they were trying to reach the worm hole before they took down the mine field
I still have my copy of Star Trek bridge Commander interesting to see how this event Loop unfold but next time if you play this battle you should just let the others Slug It Out with Cube and wear it down to see if they can actually destroy it and come in assisting it not taking heavy fire but I think it's plausible 13 Galaxy class battleships against the Borg Cube it should be manageable Still as the player in the lead ship you should have held back incremental a major damage let your wingman and your fellowships take the brunt and then come back in when your Shields are restored
I do wonder since it's shields aren't very strong, could you snipe individual weapon emplacements from range. Specifically if you take out those 6 beams, the torps are easy enough to dodge at that distance
If you could sperate the saucer from the star drive plus the other ships do the same the outcome might be different cause it had a hard time fighting the star drive and saucer in the episode of the best of both worlds
You were using a stock Galaxy model. If memory serves only 1 ship survived Wolf 359 & there were over 30 star ships. Not all as powerful as the Enterprise D but combined they had more firepower than your fleet.
