He was not disbarred today. He was RECOMMENDED for disbarment and suspended until the final decision is made by the California Supreme Court.

It is the State Bar of California that MAY take away his license to practice law in California.
He will still be free to practice law in any other state, as long as he can pass the Bar exam.

As a lawyer, it is important that the disbarment happens but as others have already explained this is separate from criminal prosecution.

The abuse by attorneys during Watergate lead to watershed changes in attorney governance with CLE requirements. This episode of lawyers abusing the rule of law should lead to a more stringent overhaul of the system trying to check lawyers' ethics.
It took me less than two minutes to look up online and find out, no, this John Eastman, is NOT related to the late Linda Eastman McCartney. HER brother, also a lawyer, also named John, died in 2022.

Any time a bar complaint is initiated, the respondent can resort to legal process to attempt to have the complaint dismissed, or the hearings delayed, etc. This takes time. Even before any complaint can be issued, there first must be an investigation by the bar association general counsel, and that takes a good while as well.

Barack Obama should be mentioned here because HE actually went to law school to HELP HIS COMMUNITY. I guess that's what makes him a "communist". There have been other lawyers like him but I doubt they are a large majority...based on my own past experience of lawyers, like the zeros who claim to be "labor lawyers" but only represent employers, because that's where the money is.....
