Motion controller is the best experience in a drone ever.
DJI FPV is perfect for beginners. No doubt.
What's not to like. Its good for beginners and even for pros due to its good image quality.

Totally agree on every word said about the DJI. Fyi, I haven't seen anybody reaching anything close to 20min. More like 5-10min. flight time.
Couple month ago a snowflake came on my drone and at first it beeped and then after drying it it doesnt beep anymkre but the light work. It also doesnt react when i use the throttle. The camera works tho
Hey Sam I know how much you like the Petrel 132 6s, I have one also, but I also made a 4in version using the FlexRC Skyhopper. It was 182gm with 6s 450ma lipo. Really a fun quad.
hi, maybe you could take apart this dji drone and install all or most components on a different frame, that would be kind of cool experiment.
One of the new guys that came here because I got a DJI fpv.Not perfect for everyone as you said but it did get me interested. Been watching your build videos. All of the build video seem to stop at the end and we don’t get to see the set up. I’m sure there’s something in between finishing the building flying. Could you guide me on this I would appreciate it

the new dji fpv combo ist as you say, also nothing for me. its ok for those who usually use mavic stuff and want to get a feeling of real fpv. but it seems surprinsingly agile tho

Guy's shurly you both see what I see?? FAA rule's Will kill Hobby. I see it when I introduce hobby. I fly at parks. Meet allot people who would love to try. Till I get to new rules part. New people the Young will decide if hobby lives. Ask a vetrens.. different Thinking... hopeful Thinking..:( I Fly everyday. I'm not getting married too have a spotter. Lol one of those rules... The only good thing to come out of the dji fpv drone, is going to be all the second hand googles up for sale as soon as everyone wrecks them.
Do you think you could replicate some of the functionality of the DJI drone but more for us expercienced FPV'ers? So not really worring about the sensors, but more the length of flight time and camera on a gimbal?
On another note, any idea why betaflight does not incorporate a GPS "hover" mode like INAV has?

Main reasons why I won't get a DJI FPV Drone:
1) not compatible to my existing gear - can't even use my dji fpv goggles with it, so i have to buy everything.. would need to use the dji-radio, so carry second radio around etc..
2) and thats the worse part: the drone has been released after the new EASA rules, but without a C-Class, so can be flown for less than 2 years legally, as it doesn't fall under the self build categories, but also not under the classes as well. epic fail DJI.
But that's missing the point. Dji drone comes with 1 battery + 4K cam + all of the sensors + company that will fix it for you. Everything is there for you right on the plate.
Custom drone needs some knowledge! You have to know how to use betaflight or inav. You have to know how to bind it together, get extra camera, know how to fix it. They rarely have GPS, any sensors, easy firmware updates.
DJI drone from my 1 week experience with it flies good. Has all of the easy modes for beginners. My batteries have over 20 cycles on them already and apart from its weight and plastics I can't say anything wrong about the drone.
Ha! It's a One crash and done product! It's a Mavic that has manual mode! It's way, WAY too expensive! The batteries are $159 EACH! Where our 6s 2000mah batteries are $45 - 60 each! SAME # of cells same amount of mah. 😖
It's too friggin heavy! You have to send it in to fix it and if DJI charges what they usually charge on EVERYTHING, it'll be super expensive to fix! Plus, a huge wait time once people start sending them in! There's hardly any parts you can buy to fix them yourself.
If you want more than 30 minutes of flight time, you'll need 4 extra batteries @ $400 !

The plastic, one crash and done, DJI Drone is so spendy it's battery costs about what the Nazgul 5" drone cost when it's on a good sale! The whole BNF Drone! lol $159 bucks for one 6s 2000mah battery! Sure it's "smart", whatever that means for a battery! ha! But, we can buy our 6s 2000mah batteries for around $45-55 bucks each!
So, it's at least triple the cost of the ones we use for our "durable" drones now! DAMN!

It’s a 20 minute flight time without the wind if you take it easy and it cannot be cold.
Its absolutely junk .but what I would do is take all the guts out and put it on a 5 inch frame a good one get rid of that junk battery.
My thoughts. I fly and meet allot of people.. first question.. How much.. I gave my sell pitch. And there eye's light up. When I give low end.. but if want HD like mine? Then can see fire in their eyes fade. Then when I mention FAA rule's... The fire dies... Between money.. learning curve.. Hard sell. But if have that fire.. lol They still want to try.. But if I mention rules?? Hobby soon Dead only thing that can save it? FAA and they don't give a shit. And FPV comunity is all about clicks and views. Will see in a Year.....

That dji drone is spendy, but it is not far off the price of a top spec quad with a hero8/9 on it.

If you take sturdiness / money, you are way off. Also the go pro can be used for whatever, you are not going to strap a dji drone to your chest on a hike.
