thank you SO much for this tutorial. I just finished a zipper bag last night and was very disappointed with the strangely angled corners on either side of my zipper. Back to the drawing board for me - with a much better way of doing this. I am saving this video for future use as it is absolutely brilliant!

A very instructional video. I am making bags with continuous zips. Hard for me to get the slides on. I watched a video showing to snip 1/2” off one side of the zip, put slide on longer side then add slide to shorter piece. It helped me. You make it look so easy. Thank you for an enjoyable video.
Thanks Mona. You really don't need to snip off bits from the zip. It just takes practice, and it does get easier. 😀
Thank you for sharing your expertise, Christine. A very thorough explanation and demonstration.
Thanks so much Inna😁

Thank you. This is an excellent tutorial. I appreciate the time you took to help people like me. I’m intrigued by the double sided zipper tape and will look for that. Can’t wait to try this out.
Thank you so much. Happy sewing!😁
Perfect explanation to do your zippers and doing the the sewing of the zippers. I been doing this for years and it works every time, perfectly. Don’t know what those sticks are for but maybe pushing out the corners of our bags. Another great tutorial!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks Debbie. The sticks are for poking out corners😀
Love this detail at side seams
Thanks Vicki😁
love this tutorial, you did best. the tutorial keep me off from anxiety when facing with zippers. great video and best for refrence on zippers.
Thanks so much Zaleha😁
I've only started working with zippers few weeks ago and have been looking at lots of zipper videos and This is the way to do it! i love the way you explained...great details and patience ! Thanks for sharing...
Thanks so much Janet. All the best with your zipper journey😁
I ordered the endless zippers. Lots of endless zippers. Oh. My. Word. I could NOT get the zipper heads on the tape. I put them away. Tried another day. Nope. Frustrated! Put them away again. 3rd try. Nope. Tossed them all in the sewing room trash. Days later, I see this video. I dug them out of the trash for one. last. try. Good glory. I've been holding the tongue the wrong way! Who knew such a simple thing could cause so much trouble? Guess who can put a zipper head on without effort now? Yeah. This knucklehead.
Love your videos. Love your accent. You're so pleasant to listen to! Thank you for this video.
That's so awesome Nanny C. I'm so glad you mastered the zip. It's all in the way you held your tongue😁
You have by far the best tutorial for zips!!!!!!
Thank you so much😁
Thankyou so much for the very in depth tutorial. It assisted me a great deal as I always have trouble when sewing the sides of the bag. Because I lose flexibility in my arthritic fingers , the close up views have helped me immensely. I make a lot of pouches with upholstery swatches, which my grandson brings from his work in a furniture shop. They are so useful for gifts. And with six grandsons and partners, they are always appreciated whatever the size. Thankyou once again. I hope you find a use for the sticks. Perhaps eating very long pasta. LOL.
You're very welcome Carol. Thank you😁
wonderful job thank you
Thank you so much😀
Wonderful video. Watching fro Maine USA
Thanks Peggy. Glad you enjoyed it😁
Excellent video and so well explained .. from now on .. this is the only way to sew zippers … thank you.
Thanks Marie. It's certainly my preferred way😁
You are excellent at teaching. Just love watching and learning from you…. Plus I have an Aunt from Australia she came over as a war bride an never lost her Aussie accent.
Thanks so much Carol.😀
Here is another round of thanks, Christine. A few nights ago I watched this video and saw that you do several steps differently than I do them. Well, I have made two zippered pouches since then and you're right; your methods are quicker and easier. Your tab method is quicker and does not show any stitching (which my method did). Top stitching just the outer bag (vs of both the outer and lining together) is quick and makes it easier to do a lining. Also, with your tip about lining up edges, it make it a snap to sew the outer bag and lining separately and give a more polished look. (I used to include the top and lining in the side hems and would then overcast the raw edges.) Thanks again.
You're very welcome Michael. I'm so glad this video has been helpful. Thank you😀
Thank you for such a clear explanation, Christine. I've been successfully making zippered bags for a few years now, but your suggestion to be consistent with all bags (using a 1/4" seam and 3/4" tab measurements) and the way you did the tabs are both quicker and easier than what I've been doing. Thank you, too, for mentioning how challenging putting on the number 3 zipper heads on, too, as they have frustrated me in the past. And lastly, thank you for giving the idea of using the snipped off part of the zipper tape as tabs or handles. They always seemed too good to throw away but I didn't know what to do with them.
You're very welcome Michael. Thank you 😊
This is amazing tutorial git my attention thisbis my next project to focus on zippers theyve alwys intimidated me not today not any more. Thank you
Thant's wonderful. Thank you😀
Thank you so much Christina, I finally have been able to see which way around I need to turn the main fabric and lining and seam allowances at the the junction of the lining and main fabric when putting a zip in.
Very useful video, thumbs up !👍👍
Thank you 🎉🎉🎉
You are so welcome Cilou. I'm glad it was helpful😀
You're very welcome Lisa😀
Hi Christine, I just received your lovely post card in the mail today. It was so kind of you to send it to me. I had a long day today and seeing your card was such a fun surprise. Also thank you for your kind words. I hope you have a lovely day! Thanks again 😊
That's wonderful Donna, and thank you for the bag. I use it every day😀
Excellent!! thank youb😊
Thank you too Diane 😁
Wonderful! Thanks...
You're welcome Eileen😁
Excellent tutorial ,I will make a bag using your instructions, easier then another I had followed.TFS.I will get some double sided fabric tape.
Thank you. The DS tape is a game changer😁
Hi, I wish I could find one of those narrow pressure foot for my Baby Lock Presto 2……your instructions are excellent and your bags look great. Haven’t tried one of those yet but I am aiming to. For the first one I will follow along your video. Thank you so much for sharing.
If you can't find a foot Mickey, you can move your needle position closer to the zip 😊
Thank you. That helped a lot.
You're very welcome! 😁
Exelente tutorial, muy bien explicado
Gracias por compartir tus conocimientos 😊🤗
You're very welcome Teresa. Thank you😁
This is one of the most helpful tutorials I’ve seen. Thank you so much for so much detail. I really like your method for making the zipper tabs. I swear you read my mind, I was going to ask you what is the significance of the extra piece around your foot? Just at that moment you explained what it was! A “safety rail”, sort of. Very interesting. Love your videos.
Thanks so much Debbie😁
Awesome video Christine. Sewed a zip with tabs today and it came out horrible! Dented/bunched sides. Video I watched to make my pouch did not mention to NOT sew all the way to the end of the fabric when sewing on the zip. After watching your video and learning exactly where to stop sewing at the zipper tabs it all makes sense now. Can’t wait to try it tomorrow. Thank you so much for your clear, precise video. I have learned so much from you!
I hope the next ones work perfectly for you Cat😀
very well done I needed that one as i just did a zipper in a pouch and not as neat of a job as this is with the tabs . Helpful and I thought the tools you received were pokers as well to help with the points and poking out My sewing tools would not be complete if I didn't have a sort of poker. Mine is wooden and looks like a knitting needle without the top LOVE it
Glad it helped Joyce. Thank you😀
Thank you. I tried the Butler method but I like your zipper tabs better.
Thank you. I prefer this method too😀
Hello. Zippers have always been my nightmare in my bag making crafts. Your slow and detailed tips and tricks demonstration give me the courage to stop hating this step. Thanks for your teaching presentation .
You are so welcome Orlando. Thank you😀
I have just returned to sewing after several years. I did a crafting challenge to raise money for MND. Fortunately I didn't need to sell my crafts as my zipper pouches were so wonky. I struggled so much with the zips but now I have a guide and a mentor who has clearly showed me the way. Maybe I will be able to sell my zipper bags after this tutorial. Thank you so much Christine.
You're so very welcome Jacqui. Thank you🙂
When I used 50 years of zippers taken from dresses and other clothing, even some jackets, I was having to add tabs due to fraying. They looked fantastic. After a year or so, I couldn't believe it, but I ran out of zippers. So I ordered some. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. Then I saw people putting tabs on. Following instructions from other channels, they were creating enormous bulk. Then I saw your channel. You put on tabs like I had been doing with my repurposed zips, but couldn't figure out the math. Thank you so much! I was overthinking, as usual. I love your channel. ❤😊
Thanks so much Sharon. It's funny how we tend to overthink things, then find a really simple solution. Story of my life!😀
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching Cynthia😁
Excellent
Thank you so much Angela 😀
Thank you.
Thank you, I needed this. No matter how careful I am with zips, it still comes out crooked or puckered so I get frustrated. These tips helped!
I needed this too. I haven't been able to get the ends coming out very nicely even though I have watched many bags being made with Christina. Seeing that you only topstitch to the tab makes a lot of sense. I'm going straight way to make one before I forget! Thank you for the thorough explanation. Really helps.
Glad it was helpful for you Di😊
You're very welcome Catherine. Thank you😊
Thank you 😊
You're welcome Marilyn 😊
This was an excellent tutorial, thank you, Christine... I believe the chopsticks were for poking add to corners. She used the word proder ha
They sure were Jan. Thank you😀
Great video. The “Butler Method” is another great way to do bag-zips. Lets the bag open wider.
Yes! Thank you! I did the Butler method video a few months back😁
Thanks!
Thank you so much Mary😀
Thanks Christine. I’ll have to practice more with the open ended zips. You made it look so easy. Why do some tutorials put the zipper on the teeth then take it all the way to the bottom and off the other end and then place it back on again? I hope this is making sense. I think your way makes much more sense to me. 👍👍👍
Thanks Christine. I pull mine through sometimes as it helps to sew the ends closed more easily when the slider is in the middle. Also if you use two sliders, you need to run one through then the other😁
