- Climbing Whiteface Mountain via Whiteface Brook aka Lake Placid Slide because it overlooks the beautiful lake placid for the entire climb! I went into this hike with doing very little research other than knowing that people do it. It had rained a ton the days leading up to this beautiful day and the water flow was insane. We opted to stay out of the drainage and stay in the woods to bushwhack up to the base of the slide. As we started to see the slide through the woods we didn’t see a way onto the slide because it was too wet and slippery so we continue to bushwhack up to the right side.. that was a horrible idea and I highly advise that if you do Lake Placid Slide when you get near the slide to cross the drainage to the left side if you cannot get on the slide because it’s too wet. You will get Cliffed out And have to backtrack back down the mountain to climb across the drainage to the other side. It happened to us. So the most important advice I can give you for this entire blog is to stay left of the drainage when you get near the slide. The slide had running water over it everywhere and was way too slippery to walk on. So we basically curled up through the corner of the slide into the drainage against the tree line and water parked our way up to the dryer parts when we were finally able to enter back into the slide. It was truly some crazy ass adventure and I don’t think I could’ve captured it any more thoroughly than in this vlog. While editing this I was highly entertained by watching my own Vlog and that is why it is longer than usual. I kept most of the footage because I found it extremely entertaining and visually amusing. Make sure to leave a thumbs up and a comment to let me know what you thought of this vlog.
Happy Trails!

You guys are nuts! Just watched this climb. How do you film from up ahead of you 3, looking down? Also, how did you get down from the summit? Hopefully someone came up in a vehicle with some good and cold beers. 👍
I went way ahead, staged the camera and went way back down to climb it again
Climbing up a waterfall! That reminds me of the headwall on Great Gulf Trail. Amazing video!
Brian, I love love love your videos!!! Especially the more sketchy ones. You're amazing!
I'm from New York and have been to the Adirondacks 100+ times, and no place is greater to me. I now live in northern New Jersey and it's a little bit further to go there now. I have been up Whiteface several times, but have not climbed the slide. It looks very inviting however. You always make things look easy! I cannot wait to watch your future hikes/climbs with your friends, etc.
More tongue dude. Insane, effing insane
Wow! What an absolute epic climb, awesome video!
You used the word "insane" 100 times, and all were justified! Great footage!
Thanks Brian! Appreciate you man, stay safe and take care my friend 👊 👍
You should wear a helmet on the slide. Any rock small rock kicked loose above will pick up lethal speed.
Man f that spruce trap, this was such an awesome hike
Surprised you don’t use approach shoes for slides.
I really dig your slide videos Brian, keep it up!!
Also, this slide is the only one I've climbed so far but I'm looking for some more because I really enjoyed it. What would you guys recommend me next considering I have no experience aside from this one?
Cheers!
A fun and grueling hike on WF to sort of mimic your multi-slide hike on Colden would be to go up a ski slide and down the LP slide, at least that’s what MudRat said 😂
Ahhh!!! Yea!
What's up Brian, you have any good hikes up your sleeve for this spring ?
I have a lot of seriously at big and crazy shit planned for the summer. So excited, I can’t even contain myself.
@Brian_Hikes_All_Day I bet you do, Have a good spring and summer I can't wait for this s*** I love it so much, I've got 18 more high peaks to go
What camera are you using in this video?
GoPro Hero 8 Black
The views made everyhting worth it, not to mention you got to attend a wedding! Crazy! Where does this slide rank in terms of distance and overall difficulty? It looks pretty long and steep on alltrails. Thanks!!
I would say it’s probably one of the more mild and easy ones I’ve ever done. The only challenge was how wet it was.
@@BrianHikesAllDay top 3 most overall difficult?
Redfield, Santanoni, Blake, Nippletop
@@BrianHikesAllDay thanks! i'm doing this viacrious thing with @Brian_hikes_all_day for the time being but the learning will be put to good use, i promise! thank you for all the hard work!
@Brian_Hikes_All_Day just seeing headline there's a girl missing since sunday 5am on Flume/Lafayette/Haystack. prayers for her and her family.
