  • The New Santanoni Slide.. aka The Autobahn Slide up Santanoni Peak. On June 22nd 2019 A new Slide formed on Santanoni Mountain in the Adirondack Mountains during a heavy rain storm. There is not much documentation, and not many people have done it to be able to tell the tale. I was very excited about this one so I recorded my journey and I’m giving you all the opportunity to see what it’s like to bushwhack and climb the New Santanoni Slide via the comfort of your couch! It was so amazing to get off trail and push through the thick bush. Once we got to the top of the ridiculously steep slide the bushwhack got so thick that it was extremely slow going but me personally, I absolutely loved it and was one of the highlights of my day! Slide Climbing and Bushwhacking is my favorite thing to do in the mountains. I think I may start a bushwhacking and Slide Climbing series next summer so stay tuned for that!

    Tips for people just getting into hiking
    LNT - leave no trace. Meaning if you carry it in then carry it out and if you do see trash on trail try to carry it out as well to help keep these mountains beautiful and clean.
    Do The Rock Hop - The Alpine vegetation is very rare and very fragile so when you’re on the summit of these mountains please only walk on bare rocks to avoid killing the vegetation!

    long sleeves, long pants, work gloves, hat , clear glasses, will make bush wacking so much easier and more enjoyable, so the way you did it was pretty epic

      Now that you mention it, it would be absolutely incredible for skiing except it’s just really hard to get out there in a very long thick bushwhack

      It was so much freaking fun. It took six hours to go 5 miles. 2.6 of those miles was on a gravel road LOL

    I maintain that this is your best slide climbing video so far. A lot of detail, some really gnarly climbing, some insane bushwhacking, a lot of beautiful scenery, and your saying "This is so f*cked" - what more could anyone want? I hope you'll post many more slide climbing videos!

      @@BrianHikesAllDay I know I've watched most of them. I also like the one where, I forget which video it was, but where you specifically say that we shouldn't do the particular move that you just did (because it's too steep and dangerous).

      You have no idea. I felt like I was just gonna start sliding back down if either of my feet started to slip and everything I was grabbing started pulling out of the dirt. That’s when my camera fell and went sliding down the slide and I had a bushwhack all the way back around and down to go get it

    • @BrianHikesAllDay
      @BrianHikesAllDay  Před rokem

      I personally do not like ankle support and never wear boots. I like to have very free moving ankles and lightweight trail running shoes.
