  • This Fish’n Canada episode has Pete Bowman way up in north-western Ontario on Lac Seul, soaking live minnows tipped on a jig for Walleye. If he could only have one northern Ontario Walleye presentation for the rest of his life, it would probably be the jig & minnow combo and this show proves just that.

One of Canada's longest-running fishing shows, Fish'n Canada travels from coast to coast in search of trophy fishing opportunities. First started by brothers Angelo and Reno Viola in 1986, The Fish’n Canada Show has been on the air for over 30 years. Today, Angelo is joined by lifelong fishing buddy, Peter Bowman, and the pair continue to travel across Canada educating anglers using the experience they’ve gained over the years

When we fished algoma in the summer we were catching walleye on almost every cast with worms on jigs. We started with minnows but they weren’t working to well. In past years we would stick with minnows but this summer we found that worms worked best.

Hey HoC, great observation. We have found that more than once many times. Leeches too. The problem with the jig and worm (or any worm presentation) towards the south is your bait gets annihilated by perch pretty much as soon as you drop it in. If there are no perch (or other panfish) around, then we agree that the jig & worm is a killer during the warmer water period. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Hey there, been watching fish'n Canada shows since I was a young pup (when cable was the only way). And now being able to leave a comment is something else! Just wanna say love the show and the content is more relatable to everyday fishermen who enjoy their time out on the water, (rather than hot shots trying to make a name for themselves making it look exhausting). So for the mornings I spent watching your shows leading up to how I spend my free time, and my kids future adventures. Thank you! Looking forward to future shows with great lodges, local strategies and beautiful weather. Cheers to great fishing buds!

You don't need minnows. A piece of crawler on jig is fine. Or up there a cig butt on a jighead will work

Saw a video of Pete filleting a walleye while it was alive...absolutely disgusting, Cruel, savage, and an incredible disrespect to the resource.

@@Fishncanada It was an episode where Angelo and Pete were fishing for walleye at some lodge...the episode ended with a scene of Pete in a small wooden hut filleting a walleye while it was still alive, it was moving around and the scene ended just as Pete cut into it....
I thought that was really disgusting and no longer subscribe or watch the fishin Canada show.
Sorry I don’t have the exact episode, but it was alive and moving and Pete started to fillet it as the shot ended. I had to do a triple take as I never thought someone like Pete Bowman would filet a fish while it was alive.
