Can Striped Bass Survive These New Regulations? | Outdoor Journal Radio ep. 129
This week on Outdoor Journal Radio, Angelo is flying solo to talk to Dr. Trevor Avery about a new Striped Bass regulation that could devastate one of the most exciting fisheries in the country.
First, however, some housekeeping was in order. Topics discussed included: staying anonymous; whether moon phases matter in freshwater fisheries; the salmon lobby; and whether snap swivels are losing you fish.
With those matters out of the way, Dr. Avery joins the show! Topics discussed included: the transparency of fishery data; unknown fish mortality; losing our Striper fishery; whether the Striped Bass is invasive to New Brunswick; why Stripers are poor recruiters; what is causing the Striped Bass decline; citizen science; warnings from the Cod fishery; why the quota increase is happening; and much more!

    I"m curious about the method u use to haze or condition the bears to stay away. They are so intelligent that eventually they would learn the rakes are harmless. unlike the rubber non lethal rounds which at least cause them pain. maybe..for many the experience is scary enough to work all the time but u might find an individual bear who wont back down ! Knock on wood it wont happen.

    Second-degree burglary occurs when a person knowingly breaks into, enters unlawfully, or remains unlawfully in a building or occupied structure with the intent to commit a crime against another person or property. Let’s break it down: Breaking and Entering: The individual unlawfully enters a building or occupied structure. This can involve physically breaking in or simply entering without permission. Intent: The person must have the intent to commit a crime once inside. The specific crime could be theft, violence, or any other unlawful act. Type of Building: Second-degree burglary often applies to non-residential structures (such as commercial properties) rather than residential dwellings. For example, if someone unlawfully enters an unoccupied store with the intention of stealing merchandise, it could be considered second-degree burglary. Each state has its own laws and definitions, so it’s essential to consult local statutes or seek legal advice for specifics in your area

    I'm sorry, but James Alofs' information is so out of date, and so skewed that there is no value in this episode. You really need an agricultural scientist or vegetation management specialist to talk about how the product works, the safe aspects of it and the potential health concerns, which are really limited to the general public unless they are the applicator and even then with proper POE, there is limited risk. Some of what James' says is correct, and he sounds like he knows what he is talking about, but his knowledge of the history of the product is skewed to scare you. The gut biome bacteria piece was an incredible fabrication on his part. If sprayed on water, glyphosate WILL kill fish, but that would be the applicator's fault, not the product's manufacturer, since the label that describes the use of the product leaves a wide buffer zone from any body of water. Sorry, Pete and Angelo, but you guys need to do some research before you bring a guest on who wants to scare the public and get more views on their own channel. You've been had.

    • @alainvallieres5360
      @alainvallieres5360 Před měsícem

      What do you know ? Are you a scientist ? I just have to go visit a sprayed area to see the destruction to the ecosystem . They also cut right to lakes ,rivers and streams now so your out of date in the forestry industry process . Applicators don't care if there's a wind or it rains shortly after and the spray ends up in our water ecosystem . Glyphosate has been linked to brain disorders and cancer , so "common now "! You see animals in a clear cut that has been sprayed ? There's no food for them !

    Once upon a time I used to use RoundUp on the weeds. Haven't in over a decade once I found out about the Glyphosphates and the harm they cause to, well, pretty much everything. I use Weed-B-Gon now because it has zero glyphosphates, and is vinegar based. Sure, it takes a bit longer to kill the weeds, but it's far safer for the environment. Also, it's female dog urine that damages the grass and turns it brown. Male dog urine is less acidic, and therefore far less harmful to the lawn.
