  • The half SUV-half truck market is weird. It's a market which two trucks are most known for, the Chevrolet Avalanche and the Honda Ridgeline. The Ridgeline gets hate, but the Avalanche doesn't receive nearly as much. But why? Let's see!

Avalanche came before the Ridgeline so it's the other way around. The Ridgeline is a copy of the avalanche

Also, besides the Ridgeline being smaller, it doesn't have a mid gate.

You missed one of its most distinguishing features... the mid gate.

Awesome video! I test drove both vehicles, there is no comparison between the 2 trucks. The Avalanche is the winner hands down.

You're great at reviewing and discussing vehicles man, keep it up. If possible you should invest in a better camera and work on lighting and camera presentation, I think your channel will grow exponentially.

I drive a 2007 LTZ Avalanche. And i gotta say the interior is great. With a screen leather a backup camera and stuff. Interior is definitely a pass from me

He is talking about styling not the frame. The frame is the suburban. Styling is just like the Tahoe and suburban considering they were the same for this model year lol but ok

From what I remember from early development, the Ridgeline name was a candidate for the naming of the GMT805, but the badging folks saw that the name was already owned by Honda. And, yes, the 805 was first. Sad that you didn't show the midgate configurations with and without the glass (and how its unmatched and stored), how the Swiss Army Bar works like mechanical logic, and the two tier bed storage using the side box features (with lumber in between and a piece of plywood on top).

Fyi: Racerback Design is an Areodynamics & Structure Directing Air from Midgate to Rear of Vehicle Less Chance Dust & Exaust Fumes when Rear Window or Midgate Area is Open I used mine to prune pine trees on property & the design kept all trimmings on the deck@rear window area even @ 45mph when going to town for lunch break without having to tie prunings down love the avalanche such a useful truck

There is absolutely no comparing the two. The Chevy Avalanche is a full frame while the Honda Ridgeline is a unibody. Furthermore the avalanche is on a suburban chassis not a Tahoe chassis.

Your review is very good and I see that you have improved in your latest videos as you actually show the car as you are talking about it, rather than you being in the camera when talking about the dashboard without showing it (for example). Overall…great job.

Get out of here what makes you think that the Honda Ridgeline and the Chevy avalanche are the same vehicle they don’t look the same they don’t offer the same things and one is longer and the other one is shorter. Also, the Chevy looks good in any way shape or form that you put it in it looks good dropped it looks good bagged it looks good lifted it even looks good stock wheels, and everything the engine, and then Vic capable the z71or LTZ it’s just a match

First of all The Avalanche was out WELL before the Ridgeline, and it is a truck built body on frame construction, with an articulating solid rear axle. No Avalanche is trying to be your mom's Ridgeline, that came half a decade later lol
SUVs started as modified versions of their pickup truck counterparts, and stayed that way, for years, so the Avalanche was nothing new or special. It is a trend that really took off in the 80s. It came out half a decade before the Ridgeline, and unlike the Ridgeline was a true truck built, body on frame vehicle, with an articulating solid rear axle, and just independent in the front, like all modern half tons and smaller pickup trucks. The Ridgeline is not a "truck" and can't even compare with the Avalanche, on any level. Honda copied the look of the Avalanche and Cadillac EXT, and made a unibody crossover lookalike. It doesn't mean they are anything alike, or compare. I seen an Avalanche doing the Rubicon trail. Something only trucks/SUVs with a solid axle can do.
I wish I had an extra set of hands, so I can give this video 4 thumbs down.

      Sounds like I struck a nerve 🤷‍♂️
This video isn’t downplaying the Avalanche. It’s just a review of the vehicle, more of a why I like the Avalanche better, and to point out the differences between the two.
It’s actually extremely common for people to question what the differences are between the two.
Plus, it’s an old review of mine, don’t get too emotional about it 😁 opinions change

@@norrisholmes4353 Look at the comments. Your title struck many nerves lol, because the Avalanche was around first and is a proper truck, with solid axle and proper V8. The Ridgeline came half a decade after the first Avalanche.
Your title was very poorly thought out. NOBODY says any such thing lol.

Please stop calling TRUCKS, cars. Trucks are NOT cars. If you're trying to be like Doug you gotta get the simple things right.

The Avalanche is the cheapest looking truck I have seen yet. New…block of plastic. Used…faded block of plastic.

Haha…Ridgeline is better all the way!)
The only advantage of Chevy is size, and that’s all. Don’t compare technically advanced Ridgeline with this tractor🤨

You are forgetting towing capability, hp , 0-60 , cargo space , 4 low , air shocks , and a v8 . Ridgeline is better tho 🤣🤣🤣 you probably drive a Tesla don’t you ?
