A pickup truck built by dodge from 1978-1979 that had semi truck stacks as exhaust and a 0-60 time of 7 seconds

You should have come up with this around December 2018, since in January this year I bought a Frontier!! 😂 I have the 4.0 V6. Hopefully it doesn’t have those issues from about 15yrs ago!!
My favourite truck in the nissan patrol y260
The avalanche has been the best vehicle I’ve ever owned. Super reliable and enjoyable to drive. It’s held up very well and it does everything for me from using it for work, hunting, fishing, camping, pulling my travel trailer, and driving my kids to and from school and extra curricular activities. My wife even likes to drive it. If they were to bring it back, I’d be ordering it the day the assembly line started up.
Same
Agree
Agreed. Ive got a "poor" example with 320k miles and yeah it isnt a nice truck but I have pushed it further than it should be....but it starts every time and keeps going.
The only one he got right was the f150 with the 5.4. The rest seems to be a hodgepodge of personal dislikes. Midsized pickups are ideal for many things, as an example. The Dakota is excellent offroad, and it's bed is plenty for the average person to haul what need to be hauled. 99% of people would be just fine with that. Hell, I've seem contractors use dakotas as their main vehicle.
I've seen many Avalanches still on the road hitting over 300K, running like a Swiss clock.
Regardless, every issues, with the exception of the f150, plague every vehicle on the market that can be avoided by doing simple maintenance. What to avoid rust issues? Wash your damn truck.
I agree but until them 5.3s start ticking
He probably got cheated on with a guy with an avalanche .
Fr bro hahaha i have an avalanche and it works perfectly
I have had my 02 Avalanche since they came out. NEVER had a problem with it ever.
My dads 02 had 476k before he sold it, great truck. Only y minor problems
My 03 avalanche runs as good as any, it has outlasted many generations of trucks that proceeded it😂
I HAD 02 AVALANCHE with over 300k on it when finally going, ohio uses alot of salt just rusted. have a 07 ltz with 6.0L in it and more problems then the 02
I love how he adds avalanche to it and all he can say is that the cladding fades and speedometer issues😂
I havent had any of those issues with my 03
I've got an 04 with 260k on the clock and the only issue I'm just starting to have is my torque converter is starting to act up and my bed covers are faded real bad. Other than that she starts and runs like a top every time.
These babies definitely get me to point A-Z
Thanks for all the replies, I have a 2002 avalanche that’s amazing!
speedometer issues we're common in Chevys. He just wanted to take a fat dump on it.
I had 3 Chevrolet avalanche 2003,2007,2009 on my 4th now 2013. Love the avalanche
I worked on the Avalanche from Concept to Launch. I have had my 2002 for 17 years and 270,000 miles. Here are correct answers... 1. The Avalanche is a variant of the Suburban (rolling chassis and engine are identical). 2. The TPO cladding was not painted. Long term validation tests revealed chalking and zebra striping, so the resin was changed for 2003. This issue is only for the introduction year of 2002. 3. The 5.3l Vortec engine is rather robust and used in the entire GMT800 vehicle line. Same for the 4L60E transmission. That continued for the GMT900 full size vehicles as the new engine and trans combinations were the same. Any problem you cited would be across all those vehicles. The reconfiguration ability us what made that truck great... and the tent offered was pretty awesome too. I am ok with you not liking them, but I think your reasons are not strong except for the cladding appearance issue.
Love my 02 also lol
The 4L60E is trash though
@@coarsethread7581 Mine went out on a chevy blazer but my avalanche is good so far.
@@coarsethread7581 because people don't maintain them. I'm 305k strong on a original 03 4l60E and I've had some fail at 280. It's all how you take care of something.
The Avalanche is a great used truck to buy! I drove the same one from 16 years old (when it was my dad's), then he gave it to me when I started university and I drove through my entire undergraduate years, then kept it as my winter driver. It was about 15 years old when did begged me to sell it, over the course of a year. It was EXTREMELY well taken care if. With over 255k kilometers on it, he still bought it for top end of the value, because it was in excellent condition!
I drove it both ways (trans Canada, coat to coast) 3 times, only ever having 1 problem, which was me blowing a tire on a sharp rock, because I hit a trail with no spotter lol.
The avalanche was stupid reliable and doesn't belong on this list
Completely disagree about the Chevy Avalanche. I’ve owned one for more than ten years and zero issues, definitely one of the most reliable trucks ever! wish they could bring it back to production again.
Facts the 5.3L in that thing is bulletproof guys on crack saying it had issues now the 4l60e has seen better days but its normal
Fr my dad and my grandpa both had one and never had one problem
I had a 2003 Avalanche. It was a pretty good truck with 258K miles. It only suffered from Rear differential problems but then it got fixed and still runs great. Until a Carvana truck totals my Avalanche :(
The Avalanche was a sweet truck and I wish they still made it, I still see them on the road all the time! Also as mentioned above the 5.3 liter engine was bulletproof and they used it in their pickups for years with no problems! Also I had 2 trucks with a 4L-60E behind a 5.7 and both were stock transmissions and had never been rebuilt and one had 150,000 and the other 200,000 and both were still running strong!
Agreed, I got a 2012 avalanche with nothing on it, everything is original. Nothing has been wrong accept the engine light is always on.
I absolutely love the avalanche. I’ve got an 06 With 250.000 mile on it and runs like it brand new.
I’ve never seen a more worthy comment section. Avalanche gang ✊
@Roberto Ojeda both of my brothers had one both on them broke and it was expensive
My Avalanche 2005 has been all good I've had it for 16yrs no major problems just had to replace the water pump at 127k
I only had to replace the diff at 150 cuz we run 5400 rpm 5 days a week
06 Avalanche Z71 on my 2nd transmission and 3rd engine. 230k on the chassis. But damn I’ve got this thing looking good and other than the chassis, brand new.
What would be the best year you recommend? Have always loved avalanches.
My avalanche has a factory g80 locker. And the 5.3 kills ricers all day long...200k and she purrs like a kitten.
Which trim/year comes with the locker? Is a rear locker or center?
I plowed snow in a 2003 Avalanche 2500 with the 8.1 liter in it. Never had an issue but it did consume oil.
@@senderoverland Z66 and Z71.
Mine has 386k miles. I dont know if I kill ricers since I have 35’s. But it’s still a daily driver.
My 2004 avalanche has been in the family since brand new and now I own it and it has been one of the best trucks I’ve ever owned. No trans or major motor problems with 222k miles on it now. Up keep Maintenance is key to any vehicle lasting long.. the back black plastics are hard to keep looking black and not faded grey but that’s the main up keep I have to do about every 3-4 months. Rhino liner coming soon!
Same here I have a 2004 that I bought off my parents and been in the family since it was bought off the lot. It's the most comfortable truck I've ever driven. It has a new transmission and transfer case and the engine runs strong at 232k. Routine maintenance is key, this guy is a fuckin tool lmao
My father bought his new in 02 and gave me the keys when I turned 17. The avalanche is an awesome middle ground crew cab when you need it and full length bed when you need it. Mid gate is a great concept they also came on the hummer. 18 years of towing/hauling only maintenance was the water pump starter and changing the fluids. Even at that it took 15 years for those parts mentioned to go bad and yes the cladding fades in the sun. If you have one with cladding. I just put armor all on it. Either way one of the most reliable trucks we’ve had in the family.
Yep have an 04 ... no issues, rides great, perfect for camping, fishing ...
yeah I've mostly had no issues with my avalanche only recently have I had issues with my transmission and I just hit 224k
I take back what I said... im now having electrical issues regarding the trucks computer systems
Chevy Avalanche 220,000 miles still going, still looks brand new.
Avalanche with almost 350,000 miles and still up and running good
Just a small oil leak
Mine too! It's an '09 with just over 200k. Love it!
04 with 170k miles and have 0 issues
2002 with 450,000 miles still going strong a little wear and tear from previous owner but otherwise runs great
I have 432,000 miles on my 2002 Avalanche. I've had none of the problems you mentioned. After 20 vehicles the Avalanche was the best I've ever owned.
does this guy realize that the avalanche, sierra, and silverado all have the same engine and transmission?
Ozzie Sheppard Obviously not
Find most people are oblivious to GM trucks similarities. Including their full sized SUVs and avalanche
"It's almost like they took a Suburban, chopped the back and made a truck bed". Ummmm that's actually exactly what they did, try and keep up lol.
@@mckjordan Ayyy sounds like my comment with your own twist, lol cheers man.
Thats correct! And the Suburban..I have an Avalanche and my husband has 2 Suburbans (one we use for parts) and just about everything is interchangeable between the 2. All mentioned sit on the same frame (almost exact, there is one slight difference on the Avey frame at the rear shocks) same motor, same trans, close enough to the same exact suspension parts too.
The Chevy avalanche is my first vehicle but for a 2002 it’s pretty reliable. But eats up gas sometimes other than that I love it!!
Update: I got a 2013 avalanche and I also love it just as much.
I'm about to get my dad's 2002 for my 18th birthday, grew up with it and I love it to death
@@noahtebben8603 it’s a really unique truck to have hopefully you have it for a long time.
just bought an '02 from my brother who got it off my dad, he didn't take care of it but im in the process of getting it titled in my name, speedometer reads 323k miles but drove it 4 hours and no issues, would drive it all day long if I could
@@jxsh327 Hell yeah man, take good care of her and she’ll take care of you.

I bought my 2009 Avalanche today! I am already in absolute love with it! The back window comes right off and the back seat folds forward giving you access to the back. There are tents made for these trucks. It's exactly what I was looking for and more! I'm a Canadian chevy chick now!
Aak…. 08+ have the terrible AFM engine. Get a range module!!
I might be buying one for my wife this Friday. It's adaptability and the LS engine are what makes this truck incredibly valuable and it shares so many parts with others GM trucks and SUVs that everyone and their dog knows how to fix them and parts will be plentiful forever

I also own a top trim 2005 avalanche, great versatile truck. No problems yet
He doesn’t know shit. My pops has a 5.3 with literally half a million miles on it. One of the best if not the best.
I was with you until the Avalanche. The 1500's shared the same drive train as the Silverado 1500(5.3, 4l60e). They are amazing and have stood the test of time. The only weak point in all Chevy's from that generation are the New Process Transfer cases(wear through). Once that's fixed they run FOREVER!! The only flaw you found was cosmetic.
Got an 04 Avalanche...295,000 miles, sat for 2 years, 2 Hurricanes, 2 Kansas winters, a Houston Texas Flood and 1 divorce and a 38ft RV tow across 6 states: 0 engine/trans issues. Incredible reliability and has always been the go-to truck when all else fails....Love it!!!!
This dudes terrible he doesn’t seem to know anything about the things he was talking about
Exactly. He says that it's the manufacturers fault, but since it's used it's the past owners fault. I 100% think he just looked up car definitions before he made the channel. He just seems like the type who works for an amateur car blog.

@@smurf_chicago6555 that’s a steal if it’s well taken care of with no damages. We’ve spent more on it too. We replaced all the leather, and have taken it in for an oil leak. Other minor stuff. Calling a spark plug hole a spark plug socket that gets stripped out.
I thought I was the only one bothered by that 😂
Yeah... It itched me a little too.
Ethan Burdette “ it’s yo boy “ 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I can’t stop laughing 😂😂😂🤣
I love my Avalanche and bought it used 8 years ago. I've only had to change a fuel pump, a water pump, and regular upkeep. I have been in several accidents, not my fault, and have never been hurt. In fact, I would buy another one in a heartbeat.
Had a z71 avalanche all the way from 2004 still kicking only problems I've ever had was gauge motors which is common and the 4x4 switch.
I’m done with this video as soon as he said failed resistor when that was a relay
Oh shit I didn’t even realize that was a mistake. I was thinking he was gonna say relay when he showed a relay. Said resistor and I just assumed he knew more than me. Lol
He misspoke what he meant is that relay isn't supposed to deliver any resistance and when it is delivering resistance it will often take out the compressor and that can be pretty expensive. You're welcome
Full Send Filosophy you’re thinking of a capacitor not a relay ... ummmm but okay thank you I guess 😂😂
All a relay does is open and close a path of resistance .
In a compressor situation all it does is give it a little extra bump while it starts if a relay goes bad it simply won’t cool
@@hermansanchez8512 okay but if your ohm testing a relay when it's supposed to be open and instead it's delivering resistance than the relay itself would be bad due to high resistance. Or he could be talking about a blower motor resistor.
@@hermansanchez8512 You tried hard though but I'm certified and I have a good idea what I'm talking about
Highly disagree with the Avalanche. I’ve owned 2 and my first one had 220k!! Now I have a 2008 and she is a beast!!!
Completely glossed over the second series of Avalanche trucks (2007-2013) in which a ton of the problems were fixed and a new motor was added.
The Avalanche had a movable midgate behind the second row seats ultimately turning the SUV bodied truck into an 8ft pickup bed.
It's the ultimate flexible solution to the guy who needs an SUV 5 days a week and a pickup on the weekend.
Meanwhile this guy is saying it might not even classify as a truck. Sure it’s more of a SUV chassis but thise things handle it all. It’s like he’s completely unaware the midngate exists, also that comment about taking a suburban and chopping off the back. Not sure if he realizes that’s exactly what it is lol
Everybody watching to make sure their trucks aren't on the list 😂

Love Pitbulls 2004 avy here! You got one?
He is wrong about the Chevy Avalanche. The 5.3 motor is reliable and it was used in over a million Silverado's. I never heard of the speedometer going out in the Avalanche. I still have mine with NO problems from 2006 and it is still running strong. All engine parts are the original except for the battery. BTW, I love pit bulls and I adopted two pits from kill shelters.
I have a 2011 avalanche ltz 4wd with 106,000 miles. No problems with power train just the dash cracks 😆
I love Avalanches too!
Why wasn't there a GMC version
The Chevrolet Avalanche is the best vehicle I've ever bought! I chose a car for all occasions. The ability to transform/increase the loading platform with the middle gate is a very cool idea! What other trucks have this? And in my opinion, this truck looks much cooler than other pickups as it has its own design, different from others. The rest of the pickups have a chopped-off shape with a 90-degree angle between the cab and the bed. Avalanche looks much more interesting.
Of course, if you need to constantly carry huge loads then you need a real pickup truck with a bed separate from the cab. But if you want a versatile vehicle for all occasions, this is what you need. Even if you need to transport long items, you can simply fold the central gate and then this load will not lie on the rear gate like in a regular pickup. This truck is very helpful in most cases!
20 years with my Avalanche, no issues besides the speedometer and fuel pump, getting close to 300,000 miles , love my truck
Really, the Avalanche has an LM7 engine and a 4L60E transmission. The Silverado and Sierra, Suburban, Yukon etc all have these. They are all excellent reliable vehicles, I don't know what this guy is talking about.

I've got a 2012 colorado lt2 and love it. It's got an I5 and have had zero problems. I do a lot of trout fishing in Northern Michigan and it does a great job in the woods on two tracks and logging trails. I just got my first spot of rust on the rocker, it was in perfect shape when I got it a few years ago. I will admit most of the early ones I see have rusted rockers. But so does every vehicle in michigan
@@supergirl109 I agree, but mine has been great, and love it for off road around here, the trails are tight two tracks through thick woods mostly. I have a new F150, it's an awesome truck but I like my Colorado better in most situations. F150 for long trips for sure.
@@supergirl109 ya, I use Colorado for everything, the F150 is our "fancy" ride.
2006 avalanche ran great still with 275k miles on it smooth ride replaced alternator, h2o pump , fuel pump, and other general maintenance at 200k but one of my favorite vehicles I've ever owned looking into getting another one the fold down seat bed extention is a game changer and I'm surprised nobody else has done anything like it since
The new silverado EV is gonna have the same thing for the bed
@@carter2858 my interest in the Silverado EV (I'm still first in line for the RST first edition) led me down the path of the mid gate design. I never used to be interested in the Avalanche but now I'm looking at used ones in my area to replace our SUV
Chevy avalanche is my favorite truck
“When you don’t maintain the engine it literally builds up sludge” no shit 😂 vehicles rust from amounts of salt and water from icy roads, sensors go out on every vehicle. And the avalanches never had paint on the plastics. These are all things that are caused by the care you take of the vehicle lol
This guy is full of shit bro hes just running his mouth for views
Okay I am actually happy to correct and inform you fellas here, as someone who works in American vehicle manufacturing everything from plastics to metals anyways heres the low down- nothing is supposed to be painted if its plastic or "leather" or "wood" and nothing welded plastic or metal wise because it should come out correct, however more often than not every" parts for 100 cars" at least 5 parts are re worked each batch and that IS internal protocol from people making alot of money head of plants when I say "youre not supposed to" I'm telling you employees, engineers, heads of design and even customers are being deliberately lied to and its no surprise
@@theWICKEDtruthz hes just reading shit off Google. Hes a joke lmao
Yeah the avalanche motors never had issues. Unless you wanna consider the manifold bolts coming loose and causing a manifold leak but other than that, the 5.3 is a long proven motor for gm
@@theWICKEDtruthz The Dodge Dakotas do have a very bad carbon buildup issues that become very evident when you pull the heads Especially seen on the 3.7 and the 4.7 found on many Chrysler's throughout the years. Though his verbage is incorrect he is not entirely wrong. ASE certified.
The vortec v8 is one of the best v8s my guy
Project LQ9 so good, that Chevy is doing away with them , right ?
Jerrett Lorton they arnt going anywhere, they just keep improving them as the time goes on
@@jerrettlorton7437 20 years with is pretty damn good run I think do you say? They went back to the LT style engine..Just some engineers doing their job
Chevy and dodge made the best V8s
Those 6.0 and 5.3s run basically forever, almost as bulletproof as the old 5.0
What’s this dude talking about I’m the original owner of a 2002 Avalanche and still driving it till this day never had a speedometer issue cladding is a bit faded for a 20+ year truck but minor detail drivetrain is flawless, going to update the look with new wheels and tires and a BDS lift kit,I only have 165k miles on it..its a beast✊🏾
I bought my first avalanche 04 and i put it to the test a few days later threw some MT tires and 3 inch lift. Took her offroading and had to haul 20 people who were stranded all crawled up on the truck bed and the running boards and roof and the cabin was also full of my friends put her in 4wd low and made it out leaving behind other 4x4s that got stuck i even took the same path they took. That thing is a beast! Its not my first gmt800, i have a suburban 05 which is the same vehicle pretty much and that thing also has 220k and absolutely no issues used her to tow big vans all over. 5.3 vortec pre-DOD are hard af to kill and the 4l60e does the job.
The Chevy avalanche is pretty badass Ngl my dad still be driving it for work for construction and it hasn’t failed him
Same my dad drives it in construction sites and he has never had a problem except he’s picked up a couple of nails with has nothing to do with the truck
Never heard any of that about the Avalanche engine and transmission either. You'd figure that would be a widespread mark against the Tahoe, Suburban, Silverado, Sierra, but nope those trucks are dead reliable.
Well 4L60Es don't last as long as the bigger 4L80Es
@@alexsabothomas3621 2011 Escalade tows an enclosed trailer almost every day. Put a trans cooler on it. Been going for more than two years towing.
@@lazydadsgarage thats awesome man. Good luck with with your 4L60E, I was just stating what generally happens to then
The 60e in general is a piece of shit yes, I have 4 of them, my newest one is in my 08 Tahoe, but it only has 290k on it with original trans, maintenance goes a long way, however my 99 Silverado has no reverse with only 159k on it
That's a 6l90e in the Escalade. Great transmission!
GM messed up when they discontinued the 4.3 vortec
Fuel economy standards.
I like avalanches, what the hell to you drive,a Prius 🤣😂🤣
150k avalanche needed a trany swap at 145k. Burns a bit of oil. Never had electrical issues. Still the best truck I've ever owned.
When a car is used, usually the previous owner has a bigg part in the unreliability, not the manufacturer.
This 100%. Every reliable car, ford, Toyota, kia, Nissan etc my family has owned, we purchased new. Every single used car we've bought was terrible.
I own a 2004 Avalanche with 215k not one problem with motor or trans yes plastic is faded but to be expected speedo works never had a problem
IKR! i have a 2009, LT, loaded. Haven't had a problem with it except for the fuel feed module, which was an easy, cheap fix. It can pull 11,700 pounds if I need it to. And it's in almost perfect condition! I LOVE IT!!!
I have an 05 Avalanche and it runs great! They also hold there value. I love mine!!!
Look I’m a die hard Avy fan but no vehicle holds its value. Brand new cost 40k you can buy a used for 5k.
I like how he is complaining about the chevy having problems with videos with like 200,000 miles at least it made it that far
'91 GMC Syclone👌
they are soo sick! especially in black!
Robert Dorsey I'll take one!
Power over practicality, baby!
I love mine
I definitely agree. I want one of those for my first car.
The avalanche was just clickbait and we fell for it
Ok, so basically every good looking cheap affordable truck is “garbage”🤦♂️
Harrison Wells just about
Nah. Most of these trucks are pretty good
John Groves it’s sarcastic
His wife left him for a black guy that drives a avalanche with big 26 inch rims that works at burger king.
Ss Russ what tf are U taking bout
@Ss Russ sorry i was smoking that black guy weed
That was a Good one Mitch🥂
If he was working at burger king, he couldn't afford to buy one. Y'all sound stupid!
@@MoStaxxProductions just someone trying to be funny that isn't. Obsession with black dudes is disturbing.
Love my avalanche has a couple of issues but best truck ever.
They don't have any problems other than what basically every other Chevy struggles with. Axles, bearings, instrument cluster, electronic throttle body (if applicable) not all avalanches have electronic throttle body, steering gear, idler arm, pitman arm, water pumps, radiator, transmission failure. Other than all of these issues they are decent trucks
Full Send Filosophy only issue with my 02 was a water pump and brake lines. Have had the truck in the family since new and know its full history. Never changed the trans fluid and its still in great shape, never had any other problems besides the rust from michigan
@@Attachments. You're speaking for 1 truck I'm speaking for hundreds that our certified shop works on
I got a 05 Avalanche with 270 bucks on the clicker, been drifting this truck since I was 10 and she ain’t ever missed a SINGLE beat, she do not flinch! 10 years later it goes thru a set of rear tires per month and still runs strong as hell!
I just bought a 2002 Chevy avalanche 2500 with the 8.1 liter v8 with the Alison transmission I love it
My favorite truck is a intimidator ss Silverado
booom!
The 2-valve 5.4 Triton's were solid. I had over 210k miles on mine before I let it go. (Still running strong to my knowledge too)
Life In The Taiga I had one . Shot spark plugs out the head but besides that pretty solid. Had 235k
@@hoster-ph5ru As long as the were torqued to 28-32 ft lbs dry you were in good shape.
My 2006 F1-50 had 225k on it when I sold it. Never had an issue. That truck took me all over the country and I had a 6 inch suspension lift and 35s on it. Even with over 200k miles it pulled my wife’s car from El Paso, TX to Maryland. No issues even in the hills of Tennessee
The 3 valve trucks are nothing but trouble if you don’t do maintenance on time and not using 5W30 oil.
I am a proud Avalanche owner, I had it for a year and I have had minimal problems with it. Yes, the speedometer failed, as well as the rest of the gauges, but nothing a OBD2 scanner can't fix (IE, one that will tell you speed, pressure, temp, the works). It all depends on how it is taken care of. I know a lotta F150 owners that didn't take care of them and they failed, yet my Avalanche has been cared for and it keeps trucking.
Love my avalanche this dude is messed up
I love how at least 80% of the comments on here are folks defending the Avalanche. 😂 I guess it isn’t so undesirable after all there, bud. P.s. I drive a silverado with the 5.3 and 170k+ on the clock, runs like a champ.
Ethan Blythe NO KEMA CUH
Laughs in 260k trailblazer
I cant even be nice about this. Gm in a whole is just a few idiots making cheap junk. To bad you got suckered in to it.
Mine is undesirable, it’s what I call my white stallion when it works then the white nag when it has issues (which I’ve had a lot of)
Because we are so many owners against a Dom youtuber that doesn't know what his talking about, the transmission was in the sierra n silverado, why he didn't mention them?????
My Chevy avalanche has no problem and it's used so 🤷🏾🤷🏾
personally i like the avalanche used to own one and it never had the problems you talked about
I have a Chevy Colorado and it’s been more than 4 years since I’ve had it and it has no rust and everything still works fine and it’s standard.
Chevy avalanche ❤️❤️
Jell
His face made me feel like I was taking the poop.....
I had a 2003 Chevy avalanche and I loved it so much I bought a 2007 I love it but you also have to realize that in Michigan ALL cars and truck rust because of the winters
The 2002 and 2003 Chevy Avalanche were one of the best trucks around, ... we had several. Each one had excellent performance and was solid like on rails when driving (4x4) over snowy icy roads. No issues with oil consumption, and gas mileage was also pretty good at around 18 mpg with a 4.10 rear axle ratio.
I had a 2007 Avalanche LTZ that I absolutely loved, didn’t have any of the electronic issues but it did burn a little oil at times. Still one of my favorites I’ve owned
LowOnAir Z06 i have the 07 ltz
Alittle oil?! The DOD went bonkers in my 2008 burb ltz ...what a poor decision to add it and for what?? otherwise the 5.3 is actually a great motor
Love my 02 Avalanche. Have the 2500 series with the 8.1 liter with over 195000 miles....
I bought an used 2002 Avalanche with 200,000 miles three months ago and that's my road dog I drive it out of state. I sure did spray paint the faded cladding, it was easy Im happy.
I have an 04 Avalanche and absolutely LOVE IT! I've had the spedo fail on me but it's a cheap and easy thing to pull it and send it out to be rebuilt. The rebuilders say they use better than factory parts so it shouldn't be an issue again. As for the "paint", the armor isn't painted, it just fades out after a decade or so. A little Wipe-Nu and you're golden for another 5 to 10 years. Oil: they don't burn oil but after about 150k miles the rear crank seal may go. The hardest part of that repair is pulling the tranny to get to it.
To quote an Alan Jackson song, "you can light it on fire and roll it down a hill but I still wouldn't trade it for a Coup Deville." You're wrong for including it on this list sir.
I've got a friend that has a 1999(I think) dodge Dakota. He bought it new and it has like 350,000 miles on it now. It still runs amazing.
It's hard to imagine A dodge truck with that many miles they drive so bad most of them ran off the road and crashed way before that lol but true dodges drive like crap white knuckle city
I have a 2001 Dakota it's always parked broke down in the backyard
I had a 2002 Avalanche and other than typical wear and tear maintenance with high mileage, I had zero problems with it. I took very good care of it and ended up getting better gas mileage than the 2007-20013 models. I love the Avalanche and would buy another one in a heartbeat.
I Just Brought A Z71 02 This Mf Is Badass And I Almost Passed On It....
I'm thinking to myself, doesn't the avalanche use the 5.3 ls motor that's in pretty much all of the bigger gm vehicles?
Wtf is this guy spewing?
Then I look into it, apparently they had an 8.1L v8 available for this vehicle... Now that worries me, for different reasons..lol
My 2002 Avalanche 4x4 that now has 400k miles is by far the best truck I’ve ever owned. I’ve replaced several things like transmissions and fuel pumps, things that are gonna fail on any vehicle but the motor is bulletproof. It uses a quart of oil a month but the engine has never been opened. Never. This truck does not belong on this list.
