I'm a Mizo teen and I can confirm it's true lol. I live in Assam rn tho and back home I remember the whole family and neighbours would watch dubbed k-dramas together at night. It is still televised in a lot of channels 24/7. Almost everyone there knows K-pop lol. And shoutout to you for this video. It's very informative and well made.

As far as I know , here in Mizoram K-Drama is the one who bring K-pop here. For example Green- Rose ( K drama) is the first k drama i know which totally spread K drama here. As time goes on , internet platform became famous and from about 2014-15 , K-pop is getting recognised especially in teenagers. Dubbed K-Drama still is still televised here 24/7.

Assam btw is the largest state of NE india and forms the majority population of NE india. So, even though in map it looks like it is cut off from india, It actually isnt.

I feel like a new industry that promotes individual singers more than playback ones will emerge soon here, and something tells me that if there is any place it will come from, It is gonna be either shilong or somewhere from nagaland.

My guy manipur is the one state that's mostly influenced by hindu bcuz of a certain brahmin the fact that most of the valley people choose it as their religion most adding singhs as their titles and still wanting to connect with the pure meitei culture, so no id even say bollywood is more prominent in manipur, heck listen to 80's and 90's manipuri songs it's super influenced by bollywood
Things have changed now cause of the young generations , but a decade earlier Hindi and bollywood was completely banned due to political issues.

My bestfrn who is a Manipuri, she said that they banned Bollywood bcz they thought the local artists would not get much recognization which makes sense. And uk there are veryy less northeastern people in Bollywood and only few are successful. My other Manipuri friends also said the same thing so this might be the region. And there is no connection between Sanatan religion and Bollywood. Not only Manipur, even in Assam majority follows Sanatan religion.

Majority of the modern Ahoms are actually Morans, Chutiyas etc, who got absorbed into the Ahom kingdom & identity themselves as Ahom. Only 9000 Tai men and few women arrived in Assam, & majority of Ahom are not descendants of those 9000 men.
DNA test of Ahom population proves that they have high HbE frequency, which is a trait of native mongoloid population of Assam. Whereas Tai population in the East Asian countries have almost no HbE frequency.
And if you want proof then check the answer of Himprabal Singha on Quora, he replied to the question (Are Ahoms Assamese?) there he have showed the proof. There he have showed the Haplogroup frequency of the natives of Assam.
