Definitely going to work with gouache and watercolor together more in the future! What do you guys think? Do you enjoy the pre-painting planning phases when getting ready for a piece? How do you stick through the long period of prep time? I'd love to hear from you!

Sometimes overplanning really kills the concept in itself. You try so hard to have an idea come across and by overworking the concept you give yourself too many options to work from instead of maybe one or two which you can improve upon. The "standard" is about 15-20 sketches, but I feel like so long as you have about that many references and maybe 3-5 sketches then that's all the time you should really take to spend on planning a piece entirely.

2am is my super most inspirational time, so I keep sketchbooks next to my bed and I also often don’t go to sleep until 4am. =>.<=

Relatable problem with being exhausted and then all the ideas pass through the floodgates lol and also would love to see the cloud paintings idea, it sounds awesome

I would love this as a series. Its OK to have so many ongoing series. You will complete all of them someday. Just don't give up. All the series you start are so nice. Head in the clouds??how about another series- head in the water?? 😍😍

I've only done a few pieces where I did a lot of research in advance. Most of them I ended up discarding. But, the one thing that helped me complete the ones I actually finished was that right at the beginning of the process I found a specific song or few pieces of music that seemed very much in keeping with my idea, and then I saved them but didn't listen to them for the whole research phase. Once I got to starting the final painting I pulled them out and listened to them a lot, and that really helped me emotionally connect with the things that had first attracted me to the idea.

I like doing quick paintings that aren't well planned too. It helps me be more expressive but at the same I'm always too intimidated with the uncertainty. Looking forward to the series! :)

I am absolutely the most creative at night! Once everyone's in bed and it's all quiet and dark and cozy, my brain seems to switch right into idea productive mode. I swear this is why so many artists have such awful insomnia and wacky sleep schedules.

That would be a really cool series! I've been getting into clouds, and it'd be great inspiration to see you paint them as well!

This as a series sounds really cool. You would be able to express diffrent feelings etc. I might do a peice like this to practice clouds. It just looks so fun. I'm always looking to do new things on my art channel!
