Michelle Gomez, was quite possibly the most spot-on, accurate casting I've ever seen in NuWho. Better than any companion, almost better than the Doctors themselves.

Yeah she was wonderful in the role. My wet dream would have been if the Doctor “subconsciously” chose her face as his next regeneration to have his dream of a good Missy flying around and saving the universe. I just think Michelle Gomez would have dominated the role of the Doctor. The Doctor has always been just as (if not more) mad than the Master, but not evil (sometimes). And she’s had serious moments and expressions that would suit the Doctor as well.
@@literallyanangrymoose7717 I maintain that Peter Capaldi was the best for the role of the 12th Doctor and Jacobi was REALLY good for the War Master (John Hurt for the war Doctor for that matter), but I’m really not going to complain about more than 1 spot on casting in the show. Series 10 when Missy and 12 were interacting was the best thing ever (I just wish we got more time with her as a proper member of the TARDIS crew (like a whole series)).
She is quite frankly the best incarnation of the Master, IDC what anyone else has to say.

This character really is one of the most well written character in the entire history of cinema.
The paradox of her/his death gets me everytime. And the relationship with the Doctor is gold.

I absolutely adore gomez as missy (she is my favourite DW character by some distance) but get out of here with your 'history of cinema' shit. That is the most absurd hyperbole I have ever seen.
He was quite good - promising. Certainly enough of a scenery chewer to play the part.
But whenever I look at clips from s10 and before the difference in writing (and acting to a lesser extent - not sure how much to blame jodie. What she has to work with is crap but she doesn't elevate it like capaldi did - or even likr bradley walsh is able to) is absolutely enormous ... so much witty, quickfire dialogue so many funny moments. That was always the main strength of DW for me. Strong character and dialogue.
Then watch s11 or the latest episodes and everything is so incredibly bland and grey. Lines could be swapped between characters with no problem because nobody has any personality. They constantly commentate on things the audience can see and break the fourth wall accidentally. Everything is just so colourless and generic.
So it's a shame because the actor seemed very capable but it is unlikely he will get the material to do the character justice.

It's incredible how different story writers can change the series so drastically. Missy changing to female is exponentially greater than the doctor changing to female. The writers make a huge difference.

I love how Missy instantly understands that he did retire to Darillium for 24 years with River and what became of her after that 24 year long night had ended. She seems genuine in expressing her condolences.

Doctor's 6 & 7 were often surrounded by awful scripts and episodes. Yet they had the acting chops to shine through them. Even the 8th Doctor, his pilot Movie wasn't the greatest story in the world, nor the secondary cast, but he is a clear highlight.
It took Missy one episode to establish herself and develop a following.

There’s a Big Finish audio with them both in! I think Missy is a little more conniving than River and seems to be one step ahead most of the time but in one of her earlier incarnations they’re pretty evenly matched.

Gotta admit, she is the best Master. The previous one was great as well, but Missy has a certain elegance and silliness to her madness that really took The Master to a whole new level. The writers did great with Missy.

Well, they state that it's timelines being out of sync, which they've used previously to justify old doctors coming back but not remembering something. There's the possibility of working around it, which I kinda want.

It's kinda sad, because The Doctor Falls shows just how much Simm could've done when allowed to do a comedic style that wasn't flat out goofy and cartoonish. Gomez absolutely defined the double edge of humour and terror that should've been a staple from the start.

Jessie Baker I disagree completely Simm was completely superb as for his over the top performance it made perfect sense the doctor who was literally the polar opposite of the master had become borderline unhinged because of the time war and he was sane whereas the master was never sane so finding out your entire race except your worst enemy is dead made him even more unhinged to me it made sense

As cool as the “shooting myself in that back” was UGHHHHHHHH it was so amazing but also so sad because missy was my absolute incarnation of the master and the fact after all of classic who and the reboot it took all this time for the master to finally stand with the doctor and that to happen was such irony. Beautifully done BUT yet I’m also still salty because for me Missy couldn’t gone for seasons and I wish she could’ve been a companion for at least a season
