True, it is common practice for Playstation and that was the first thing that came to mind.
Makes you wonder how many shitty ports from PS should actually run fine on "lesser systems" would be interesting to compile a list of Sony Ports and check how many were poorly received on the systems ported to.
@@michaellane5381 overall, game made on PC and Xbox then ported Playstation run worse "quality". Not of purpose, but by the design of being multiplatform. So most choose the Playstation API to start making the game. Depends on the developers.

I see it as a stall tactic to push out as many ps5 as possible this year to gain a huge lead on software sales for upcoming games. 32 million is 1 thing, 50 million consoles at 3 year mark is nothing to scoff at for developers. So what i see Sony's strategy and reluctance to sign MS deals are twofold. From a business and legal viewpoint, their arguments seem weak. So what they have to use is a perception of fear against MS to portray them as an evil company because they can't compete with them financially. But also what Sony would lose more than money is what's most important to them, which is control. CoD just happened to be one of their most successful methods to control and dictate the market. They just needed the regulators to be convinced that their business model is essential, making them essential. If MS succeeds on their promises, they might change future third party deals with companies to be less restrictive, making Sony's strategy unfavorable and less controlling. That in my opinion only is what Sony fears. Just an opinion or a theory, not saying im right or wrong.
What's pathetic is that Sony is being humored. The fact that regulators are leaning almost entirely on the market leader's concerns is bad enough but them just spouting baseless accusations in bad faith should be condemned. At this point they're making a mockery of the entire regulatory process and should be fined or else the regulators set a precedent of companies being able to spout nonsense to slow down the process and waste tax payer dollars (government processes literally have a responsibility to be as efficient as possible because they're spending public funds) and this would be the norm because the company spouting nonsense faces no consequences.
#25 just shows how entitled they are. I get CoD is a big game but why does MS have to ensure access to a IP that MS is buying? Sony bought the rights to Spiderman. An IP that had been on Xbox for years, MS didn't have standing to grandstand about how unfair that was. If they buy it, its theirs, if they decide they never want to make another CoD again thats fine cause its theirs. By there logic nothing should ever be exclusives because that would be "Degrading access". I'm sure a lot of xbox fans feel their access to FF is being serverally degraded by Sony. This just further validates my choice of dumping Sony for good after the PS4 Pro I bought Blue screened 4 to 5 times a day while trying to play games. I will never buy another Sony Console the rest of my life because of the way they handled the RMA process with that piece of crap.

Yes, the main platform is Playstation API because it is the easiest and most familiar to develop in. Then it gets ported to DX11/12 Xbox and Windows. Call it "parity".

You make a fair point. I Have never seen anyone try so hard to stop a deal. They had to have told him something significant for him to act like this. I'm sure if Shawn Layden was still running the ship, and he got the okay from Phil that he will bring cod on players for 10 years and be open for a new negotiation after, he'd say yes. Although Jim is the CEO of Playstation, so there are not many people that can tell him to stop this, only the chairman.

Let's be real here, they don't care If ABK gets bought out, they care that Microsoft is buying them and they care that if COD is on GP along with all DLC etc it will be more of a reason for people to get an xbox or buy into the xbox gamepass to play it rather than spend 70.00 to play it on Playstation. That's the real thing he they don't want to be proven wrong even more that subscription like GP are great deals made even better by games like COD, redfall, starfield, fallout, eso/ES, skyrim etc.

Amen man. I smashed my brothers Sony XM5 $500 headsets because I was so mad about activision deal being stalled by Sony. I’m now grounded for 6 weeks but it was worth it and I can play Xbox game pass in my room via my table or cellphone thanks to cloud streaming and rdna 2 architecture
It is irrelevant. I think they will pass it, but it no longer matters. If the CMA blocks it, MS creates a subsidiary that is ABK-UK and functions in the UK as the status quo while the rest of the world experiences the benefits of the deal, and MS takes the CMA to court in the UK, and will win.

Wow so after 10 plus years of being dominated and pretty much irrelevant Xbox Finally has something to speak about…. Here’s how it sounds “Oh we can’t create our own IP’s like Sony or even Nintendo, so we’ll just buy all the developers and use their already successful IP’s as our own…” Let’s look at how the RARE deal worked out since they brought them from Nintendo a very weak Perfect Dark game on 360 (and a long wait for a sequel) a barely decent Killer Instinct, Rare Replay, and a sorry ass BattleToads game that they could have kept. Sony shouldn’t even look at it as a lost. Sign the 10 year deal then use the time to work on your own IP to rival COD which should be hard since it’s been the same game for the last 10 or more years just with a different setting.

I don't blame the folks at Sony for fighting so hard. Having CoD in Game Pass for $15 per month is a substantial blow to their business model, but my eyes almost rolled into the back of my head when I heard that statement from them. It's time to give up the charade. CoD will remain on all platforms indefinitely and we all know it. It's time to drop the act because we're all over it.

Just putting it out there but there have already been faults/bugs in COD games on PS4/5 over the years. After the deal goes through they don’t suddenly become the result of Microsoft owning COD they’re just something that can happen. Pretty sure the developers at ABK that have developed on the PlayStation platform aren’t going to accept being told to purposefully place bugs in games.
