PlayStation loved the CMA a month ago. Now they think they are acting irrationally. Can anything please Jim Ryan and PlayStation?
Yeah, the solidification of their leading position forever and the death of the Xbox brand. Simple.
Honestly, I used to own Playstations all up to PS4 Pro, which was when they stopped doing backwards compatibility (my major reason for not buying new PS') And now I just can't stand the management. On one hand: you got Phil, talking about the video games he completed and how Xbox has major plans for gamers... then you got Jim Ryan, yelling about how Xbox is giving them the shaft. Not a good look for Sony, and I would hope SIE corporate in Japan take notice.

If sony was that concerned with losing COD from the playstation platform, they could of signed that contract already.... which really shows what sonys agenda is. They don't care about anything but being selfish. Such a crock
They don't sign because of the fact that they have nothing to lose. Sony gets a good deal, even when they fail. In fact, Sony gets the exact same deal. So, they have absolutely no reason to sign anything.
This is why Phil should change that contract. Either change it to give Sony only one more year of CoD.... or put a deadline on it. An ultimatum. If Sony doesn't sign this deal before the rest of the world approves of the acquisition... the deal is off and Sony should just go year by year.

We need to stop and recognize Jim, he probably will be the industry leader for most nick names attached to his name.
Important to keep in mind that Call of Duty generates over $500million yearly for Sony in platform holder revenue.
Aside from what they pay for marketing deals .....this is pretty much instant money in their bank. The revenue from this alone is enough to fund at least 3 AAA first party games.
It's not so much about having little faith in their own studios....it's how well they can constantly be funded. Less money from big selling third party games means less options they have for their first party games.

I don't think insulting the regulators is going to help Sony's case. But it seems they've gone all in to try and stop this because otherwise it means they will have to start trying to compete.
Xbox needs to make a perm gamepass deal with SEGA and bring the JRPG bangers to Xbox

I hope it encourages Phil to drop the nice guy act and take Sony for what they really are. Sony has proven time and time again that they are not going to play nice. At this point; Phil should change the 10 year Sony contract to just 1 year. Because regulators will pass the deal anyway and Sony shouldn't be getting their way. Sony's position now is; _we will try to block because we have nothing to lose._
Phil should give Sony an ultimatum. Sony _should_ have something on the line here. Cause only Microsoft, Activision and all consumers have something to lose here. But Sony doesn't. They can keep shooting and all their misses come without repercussions.

The console market leader that basically has a monopoly in Europe saying that Playstation will die without CoD, when MS has offered them a 10-year contract and even proposed an adjudicator for parity across platforms. The initial overview from the cma was essentially - phase 1 . these are the concerns we are led to believe there are . Phase 2. We have investigated and there are no grounds for concern . Jim and Sony need to accept this . They have done their due diligence. Draw a line under it now , it’s looking truly pathetic.

No they're scared of innovation too. What Sony doesn't realize is they can't expect a market to grow if they try to fragment everything. VR would do a lot better if they worked with third parties to open up compatibility to other major headsets and further worked to make it work well on PC or at least made their headset and games backwards and forwards compatible day one. They don't truly want to innovate, they just want the clout associated with jumping into the sphere (at least I hope so because otherwise their market growth plan is terrible (a product (headset) that needs another product (PS5) so that you can use a line of products (vr games) that doesn't work with other models (third or first party) in an incredibly niche arguably nonexistent market is a recipe for failure; they could have at least introduced features like a permanent theater mode 4kuhdr 120hz screen (selling it as a more immersive screen could work)).

Every generation i have bought an xbox and then got a Playstation a few years in. This time im not going to buy a playstation. This whole thing has soured me on them, and i wont reward this kind of behavior with the thousands of dollars worth of games i would have purchased over the generation.

Well, I suppose that if Sony doesn't embrace where the customers are driving the market, which Sony seems to have forgotten that's who drives the market, then Playstation will possibly die.
