Can you please explain to me how the dbx didn’t meet the standard you were looking for? Aside from the lack of touchscreen controls, what else about it could disappoint you? The DBX has more trunk space, is sportier, has a nicer looking interior (less clunky, better lines, looks more opulent with the apportionment of endless leather). I can only imagine that the Bentayga is more comfortable and (perhaps with the right options) sounds better, but what else does it really have going for it? Exterior-wise the bentayga is easier to distinguish from the front, but the dbx is much more attractive everywhere else. Maybe you had a boring configuration with no contrast?
@@stevenkessep5324 Also the DBX ironically has a shitty sound system; makes itself sound like a 0-optioned out 5 series compared to Bentley's Naim. Idk why the god damn hell AM doesn't put the B&O in the DBX, the brand makes very questionable mistakes sometimes
Thank you for your input!!!! I am trading my 2019 Bentayga in tomorrow for a 2021 Bentayga and am happy to know you’re happy also! I absolutely love the Bentley brand. My fiancé has both a Continental GTC and the brand new Flying Spur. We love them all! Super classy also 😎
Great review on both SUV's! I rec'd my loaded DBX Dec 31st and love it, bc it drives like a sports car. The carbon fiber inside & out makes it. Just fun to drive. It's now Feb, and I traded in my Mercedes GLS 550 for a 2019 Bentayga w/under 4k miles. Newport Beach McLaren just happened to have one from an owner's trade-in. As you've mentioned, this SUV is pure luxurious. I love both SUV's for my wife & I to switch to drive, bc they compliment each other and both fun to drive for our everyday cars. Another car you test drove which I got in Dec is the McLaren 765LT. For the money, this is an amazingly fast super car which is fun to drive as well. You know what I'm talking about, bc you test drove all three. Now, I just need to move from dying CA to the better state of FL!
Looks like some great decisions. I just traded my Bentayga with the titanium exhaust for the 2021 Bentayga Speed with same akrapovic exhaust. Considered the DBX, but landed on the Bentley again. I also have the 2021 Bentley GTC Mulliner. Sweet.
While I certainly enjoy Chris Harris reviews, there’s something to be said for reviews like this one - for real people who do actually drive SUVs for the addictive higher vantage points they offer yet want something that drives and performs like a sports car. I love highway power cruisers for long distance drives that allow me to overtake effortlessly and confidently so these SUVs are just the sweet spot. Subscribed. Thanks for the review.
Pleased with that as I’ve just ordered the DBX. I have a Conti gt too which is awesome and wanted a change so fingers crossed. Btw you’ve forgotten how to say aluminium.
I’ll definitely go with the Aston. My only concern is no advance safety features like crash avoidance. Aston does need to improve the technology, and I think in ten years it will be up to par.
Yes it has an older Mercedes-Benz style system as far as navigation et cetera but it all works very well and frankly this is the sort of car you drive if you don’t let it drive itself if that makes sense... People with the joy of driving aren’t really looking for self driving cars if that makes sense
Happy New Year and thanks for the nice video! I am a bit biased, I’d take the Bentayga every day. If I would go for a pure sport SUV, maybe the Urus would suits better. However, the color of the dbx is simply superb🤩!
Really superb video. In other videos (USA-based too) they are gripping about missing the "Soft-Close Doors", the "Head-Up Display", the "Massage Seats" and the "Touchscreen" in the DBX against the Bentayga or other luxury SUVs. You are saying the correct phrases -> the DBX is the sportier one. There's no doubt about it because he weighs less. Astons have a sporty touch. For people who can't shut down the doors by themselves, there are the cars of the AUDI/VW and BMW Groups. I will take the DBX. Enough boot space for my Doberman, towing 2.7 tons are okay for my race car trailer, and with a weight round about 2.2 tons I am able to use every parking garage because a lot of them in Europe are limited to a height of 1.95 m and weight to 2.5 tons.
Soft close doors are the stupidest gimmicks ever. If you wanna have an automatically shuttung door then just have one that hydraulically operates fully like RRs and the EQS
The Aston just looks so much sleeker, I would have that every time. Which surprised me, as I love the Conti GT, with its powerful haunches and great profile. The Bentayga has none of the Conti GTs beauty.
I had a pre facelift Bentayga, just loved driving it, but never enjoyed the rear end shape, so changed it for a new V8 Conti GT , much nicer looking inside and out but I think the Bentayga gave a softer ride- not sure why, both have air suspension. The fact that Aston’s use old generation Mercedes infotainment was a deal breaker for me, ruled out the DB11 which also had a plasticky dash even though I think its even sexier than the Conti GT
The question posed in the video title is easy for me, DBX all day every day, twice on Sundays. And for me it's not just versus the Bentley, but the fact the DBX is the first SUV that I truly like even though it's not my favorite form factor. There are other ultra-lux SUV's that may have higher measureable stats, but none of them do justice to the heritage of the cars before them like the DBX. Of course I can't even begin to afford such a thing at the moment, but if I ever do reach that level the DBX will be the only SUV on my potential shopping list. (I also sort of like the Porsche Macan GTS, but lets be honest..thats a bit larger than normal lifted hot hatch)
AM for sure looking at the both back to back the AM looks far sleeker more streamlined and less bulky ..... Downside on ALL SUVs Seeing as you already have a reversing camera why or why is it not linked with the mirror via a switch so no matter how much load you have in the back a switchable mirror can see beyond that ? Also seeing ad you may wish to drive away for a long weekend there SHOULD be a cloths rail in the boot space to hang up a couple of suits shirts wife's dresses etc etc .....I wish these designers open their eyes ? Common sense to me !
the Aston for the 50 something guy who needs space for his clubs (but in James Bond silver of course), and the Bentley for the basketball/football bonus baby guy before he goes broke 5 years after he quits playing (although in a color than the sun glasses blacked out, the Bentley would have a more stately up right character). the Aston much more elegant exterior. the Bentley much more beautiful (with a 30's airplane vibe) interior. great fun job in presenting as usual!
The exterior of the Aston is bang on, especially in 707 form. The interior is awful by comparison to the Bentley though. They're both lovely cars, choosing between them is hard, but reliability and better tech pushes me further to the Bentayga. The Mercedes infotainment system was awful in their own brand. The new interior arriving in 24 may help the DBX. I also dislike the fact the glass roof does not open on the DBX.
I live about four miles from the Bentayga dealership. I can walk to the Aston Martin dealership. In my community I have yet to see an Aston Martin SUV, but I see quite a few Bentayga’s. I’m wondering why.
The 4.0 Mercedes engine lives longer as used cars show, even after programming the engine it works long and smooth, the audi 4.0 engine has many turbo problems and inlet... And in my own opinion that the 9 speed auto from merc is more comfortable and faster than the 8 speed ZF Also the aston interior has more art to it and is unique, the bentayga has many parts of VW cars based on the same plattform...
I agree! I have a Bentayga myself but I do still wonder about the Lambo Urus.. Have you driven one before? Do you still think the Bentayga beats it? Thanks for your input…
Usually the 4.0L 60° V8s used in the 3 big German premium manufacturers have this kind of a concluded analysis where they have sorted out the perfect performance-to-durability ratio of an engine block; which happenes to translate to these specifications you see here. About 550BHP @ 4.0L TT is about as optimum the engine output can be in these cars, it seems
Bentley is vws when i look on the internet for faults with vw there are pages and pages of faults in fact please tell me what vw i can buy with out faults and they are suposed to be good cars prove me wrong
The DBX is just so much sleeker, stylish and classy than the blobby Bentayga..a bloated VW ..it has the bespoke platform and best interior space…AND now with the 707…GAME OVER.. DBX every time
Bentley all day, everyday!!!
I have had two Bentayga's in a row. Bought a DBX, keap it for 9 weeks, sold it, and ordered a 2021 Bentaga. The DBX is inferior in every way

Great review! Very informative. Thanks so much ♥️

Bentley for me. Prefer luxury feel of the Bentayga.
Bentayga is very sharp but the Aston would impress you too.. all dependant on spec with DBX
The Bentley hands down looking at that interior space and height and massive boot. You could fit some big dudes in and have space to spare.
The Aston has more cubic feet of storage and a bigger interior
one of these two or Range Rover sv autobiography dynamic?
