    I say this as an atheist, it really is beautiful when people who have faith talk about it without even the slightest bit of judgment or hate for other people. Particularly with Christianity that's something you don't see very often, just the sheer humanism of it. I may not believe but I will never turn down the chance to understand the lens through which other people view the world, because it is kind and fascinating.

    • @tylarjackson7928
      @tylarjackson7928 Před 2 lety +13

      Fellow atheist here. I love the way he describes his belief. And yeah, I'll absolutely respect anyone who can talk about their "spirituality" or whatever they call it without bringing judgment into it.
      It seems a lot of people seek religion as an answer to something that they see as a problem in the world. By definition, that's a judgmental reason for being religious.
      I think you'll agree with me in saying that if there is any true spiritual somethings flowing in this world, it's love. Feeling and expressing love is the most magical thing we have here.

      I love it. They’re all just attempts to grasp the same thing from different perspectives. Ideas like a “big man in the sky” are metaphors, images used to try and understand what cannot be understood.
      It’s well known that JC was someone who had a colossal mystical experience and learned an understanding of the universe not too different than that of Siddhartha Gautama (the Buddha). So although the religion around JC calls him “the son of God”, he, historically, referred to himself as “a” son of God. Meaning of the nature of God. God being the universe itself.
      They’re all the same. If anyone believes only one as being legitimate, then that’s an indicator that the person has a narrow lens with which they view the world. People go to extremes with their beliefs and those extremes shouldn’t be confused with the spiritual backbone of it all.
      Atheism is in itself spiritual. Actually, atheism is just Buddhism from another perspective. Many people who consider themselves atheists will believe in “science”… and that’s actually just another version of the same thing. A different lens to describe and understand ourselves and the universe.

      @@porfiriato84 I think the quote is about how we're all eternal beings, how we've always existed & always will. I heard the same thing from the Bhagavad Gita, says something to the effect that the body is temporary but the driver of the body (the soul) is eternal. "never was there a time when you didn't exist, nor in the future will you cease to be" i'm paraphrasing but u get what i mean

      We used to get the Dave Allen Show in America when I was a kid. One skit I never forgot was you see a woman's high heels walking down a lonely, foggy street at night. Then it cuts to the face of a Mr. Hyde type monster seemingly following her down the same street. Occasionally the high heels stop as if she's worried, and whenever this happens the monster also stops and hides in the shadows. Finally the camera pulls out and you see that it's the monster who's wearing the high heels. It's probably been 40 years since I saw that and for some reason it's always stayed with me...
