I think I figured out connor and joey. They don't even like food, they're just looking for vehicles for sauces and dips.
Fried chicken doesn't need "dip" to be delicious. It's already delicious undipped. Now, if you're a child, and need to eat nuggies or tendies (boneless gang, looking at you) then of course you're gonna focus on the dips, because tendies and nuggies are little more than a way to put sauce in your mouth.
I think Connor and Joey's way of thinking is a result of Unseasoned Chicken Syndrome (UCS). The chicken by itself is so unseasoned and so mid that they need a dip to make it taste good.
Don't get me wrong, chicken and gravy is def the fire pack. But the gravy/sauce/dip shouldn't be necessary to make the chicken good.
This is the most british food I've ever seen
No shit
If Connor swapped bread for a tortilla and added a meat he made a taco.
If my grandmother had wheels she’d be a bike

Beans on toast is far from the best dish but it's not as bad as people make it out to be. It's the equivalent of a grilled cheese or peanut butter sandwich where it's just like a quick struggle meal or snack
That being said just slapping microwaved beans on white toast is not the move. You need to cook the beans in a pot so the sauce thickens and concentrates. Get a nice sourdough or rye bread and make sure it's toasted well. Butter the toast. Add bacon and cheese and then broil
You did not just compare grilled cheese to beans on toast what 😭
@@allergictohumansnotanimals5671 Considering a lot of people enjoy Kraft slices on Wonderbread for a grilled cheese, I'd say it's a fair comparison
@@allergictohumansnotanimals5671 this is proof that a lot of "British food bad" takes are biased.
The way Connor described it, it literally is a grilled cheese but with beans and an egg.
Unless you have a hate boner for beans, or actually take memes seriously, how is that worse than a grilled cheese?
@@meko98743 It's funny because as a kid my mom would make bean and cheese sandwiches in that closed sandwich maker thing and it was literally just a grilled cheese with beans
@@Ash_Wen-li"closed sandwich maker thing" are you talking about a toastie machine?
It's not the beans on toast that got me, it was the "it's always about the dip" for the fried chicken that got me
I'm latina so I've never had kidney beans on toast... But I have had black beans on bread 😂 and it's good too, as long as the bean soup is well seasoned.
But to be fair, tacos are actually the world’s perfect food. I mean they just are. You can eat tacos every day and not have the same thing twice in months. 😊 And they taste like tacos. 🤤❤
It might be good sure, but top 9 food of all time good?
@@Zabomafooable tacos are the universal food.
I'm talking about the beans on toast
@@Zabomafooable true. It is up in the top ten of comfort food, don’t you think?
As an American from the southern states, it's beans and ham on cornbread. Lol. That stuff is great. And you put corn and jalapeños in the cornbread. Really amps up the flavor
Seconded, but I prefer cheddar instead of corn.
is it real ham or is it that spam nonsense?
@@GrowingDownUnder actual ham. Diced up into maybe 1/2 -1 inch chuncks and slow cooked in the beans. A large crock pot works great. Just let the ham and beans cook for 6 or so hours. Add whatever seasonings. Salt, pepper, garlic, onion, paprika. There's a lot of great seasonings you can add.
A pleasant trip to the bathroom.
@@GrowingDownUnder bro we don’t put spam in our food in the south. That’s food stamps/EBT card poverty food unless you’re making SEA/Hawaiian food
As a Canadian who never had beans on toast until I was almost 30, it is actually pretty good with the right sauce and you eat it with other foods like eggs and bacon on the side. Connor makes a good point about the bread -- it makes a huge difference when it's toasted and it's at least the grained type (in my experience, the thicker the better).
I'm sure 2:36 won't be clipped out of context. 😂
As a Hispanic; you just described the same thing we do. The only difference is the toast and tortilla. Which is a different type of toast.
This, I absolutely love bean burritos, same goes for beans on toast. I didn’t even realize beans on toast were a British thing until later in my life because I would just substitute the tortillas with bread and didn’t really think about it
I don't think I've had beans on toast since I was a kid, it's decent enough but I wouldn't go out of my way to make it. It's one of those meals that'll fill you up if you're tight on cash
One of the best meals I've ever had was just toast with butter with (non-Heinz) beans with torch-molten cheese with worcestershire sauce on a hangover. Fuck, it's so good; the butter is what Connor forgot and it really finishes the whole deal off.
Plus, the oven melting cheese is an unnecessary extra step; pooring the piping hot beans over a bed of shredded cheese works just as well.
Conner just proved hes Welsh with the beans on toast recipe lol
Alright, first thing I’m gonna do when I get to the UK, imma buy a Tesco meal deal
Remember everyone, it's okay to be wrong.
Especially when foreigners talk about beans on toast being disgusting. They're just ignorant and that's okay.
Especially with beans on toast
As someone from the southern US, I love a good dip, but if the chicken is good enough, the dip would just ruin it
The pasta discussion is one of the most middle class things I've ever heard.
Beans on toast best dish ever, no wonder y'all have to travel the seas for seasonings
Genuinely shocked it's taken this long for them to talk about beans on toast. As a fellow brit, everything connor said is correct. Try reducing the beans in a saucepan.
Beans on toast has been mentioned in other episodes a few times. And yes, reducing the beans is a must. Watery beans suck
Its not as good as ramen or lamb bro the fuck are yall gassing up
I grate my cheese and then add it to the pan while heating/ reducing the beans. Makes the sauce thicker
Also add a bit of butter and black pepper to the saucepan while it's heating, gives the sauce a bit of extra flavour and a tiny kick
@@obarich it's ok to have wrong opinions sometimes
Nothing wrong with salt unless your doctor tells you to cut back.
This whole conversation is making my "Throw the tea in the river" impulse go off
And see where your country ended up?
@@conormurphy4328 with the highest GDP in the entire world? I know, humble beginnings, am I right?
As someone that argues near daily with American friends on how good beans on toast is...I needed this vindication as a Brit. It's such a good meal - quick and easy to whip up too. You do need to give it some love though - throw those beans in a pan and grill that bread nice and proper. Or you can just dump the beans onto the toast verbatim; which I must admit I do sometimes as eating sauce-soaked toast is something you need sometimes.
god-tier fried chicken is not meaningfully elevated by dips. it's not better, it's just different. once again garnt comes out looking like the reasonable guy again with these two clowns
Connor is channeling that Matthew Vandham energy.
4:21 Here in México we call that Molletes
Agree with Tesco meal deal. Being a uni student with no money going for a meal deal from Tesco
All-time great American breakfast choice. Egg on a roll. Fried egg with a runny yolk between either slices of bread or bun of your choice. Toasted or otherwise. Add cheese to that. Phenomenal, and having to deal with no mess because it ain't got no beans in it.
It’s like Connor reverse engineered British huevos rancheros
The way Connor explained how to do proper beans on toast is similar to how Mexicans make beans on toast 😅 it's very good, especially if you add canned jalapeños or a well made salsa. Very typical breakfast for a Mexican-American household.
Yeah and sometimes the crazy is just for something specific, while others are crazy dangerous
The issue here is beans and toast is mid, while Greg's sausage rolls if actually better but isn't considered
Beans on toast is what Morgan freeman was eating in Shawshank
"I'm a big bean lover" I want to make a joke about Ironmouse but that would be entirely inappropriate.
Honestly, I'm with Garnt on this one. I don't usually enjoy chicken in dipped sauce except for Teriyaki, gravy, or Tempura sauce. If it's seasoned or smothered with a honey glaze or barbecue-flavored powder, I would LOVE it instantly because those kinds of chicken are delish! 👌
9:23 Yeah I agree with Garnt here.
9:40 Ykw I'm on both sides now, I love my KFC chicken being smothered in gravy 😋
What can I say, they're living up to thier name qiute well
This is the third video in a row I’ve seen Conner in that Jojo sweatshirt. 😆
I'm followed this recipe
its NOT all about the sauce at all lol
The genovese love warms my Italian heart sing. Now. I'll give you if you make beans on toast for yourself, with all those good ass fixins, I agree God tier. Out at some shit dinner? Lower than dirt sirs
Not had beans on toast. Toasted bread is dried bread. Dried bread works better for not mushing when put in contact with liquids. Beans from a can have a lot of liquid. Makes sense.
When you realize the Trash Taste cast has never had real Southern Fried Chicken. Go to New Orleans and be uplifted. Go to Nashville for the real.
I've family who are vegan and I stumbled into lentils for an option for them if cooked like ground beef is for tacos. Beans largely seem like a side ingredient beyond a few recipes to me and I'd choose to add them to many dishes given the option. Traditional beans on toast are not for me though.
Beans on toast with some cheese on top
Cheap and tasty
Honestly, for the while I just thought beans on toast is just the worse kind of poverty meal but then if you reframe it, beans on toast is essentially just a white person's BEAN BURRITO. Both are just beans on bread. It's still meh for me personally but not the worse.
p-AH-sta
Let him cook
Sounds like a mediocre burrito tbh
I’d say beans on toast is gross, but I’m Hispanic and realize that beans on a tortilla is essentially the same
Tortilla with beans > Toast with beans
In what universe is a tortilla better than bread?
Tortilla with refried beans? Cause there's no way you mean Heinz beans and tortillas
Beans on toast with fried egg and a dash of tomato sauce brilliant then later get gas mask because it will be baffing time HUZZAH
Definitely "Trash Taste"
What is genovesa sauce?
I had to google it too. I think they are talking about genovese pesto sauce in the video, not genovese sauce.
Basically, the one is a pesto sauce based on basil leafs while the other is a meaty brown sauce
I don't like beans
The cheese addition is literally a taco
Bro thinks they invented adding cheese to stuff
Connor just made Molletes with eggs on top LOL
Mexicans looking at how Brits use their beans in cooking... 🙄🤦🏽♂️
Someone told me to try beans on toast so I put some green beans on toast and vomited from how bad it was
I want to barf.
The fuck
The beans on toast shit, sure, tha can be good when as described
BUT FRIED CHICKEN CAN DEFINITELY BE GOOD WITHOUT THE DIPS, IT'S JUST THAT MOST OF THE CHICKEN Y'ALL EAT ARE UNSEASONED AS FUCK.
Worst opinion of all time dude is the school days of food🎉
Their food takes are atrocious
Beans on toast is more or less the British version of American biscuits and gravy. It's a cheap, easy to make breakfast that will keep you full for awhile.
wowowowwow
That food is a literal war crime
never let the british cook
The fundamental problem with beans and toast (coming from someone with British relatives) is that it's often made with crap Heinz canned beans. The beans are mushy and themselves bland, so to compensate, they're swimming in this sickly sweet diluted ketchup sauce.
It's a dish for folks who enjoy eating ketchup as a meal. I love beans, but this dish ain't it.
Cap
Makes me sick just looking at it
If we're going to make the effort to make beans on toast a decent dish then why not just make a proper meal at that point?
Pad kra pao is easy, even shakshuka and those are tasty nutritious meals. A proper sandwich would even be an easier to make food but more customizable in order to cater to one's taste
It's the same reason people make ramen and then add a bunch of stuff to it
@@Ash_Wen-li I'd take it you're referring to instant ramen. I personally think it's a good 'bad food' since it's convenient yet still a decent food on it's own.
Because you can still do those things with far less effort than it takes to cook an actual meal.
It takes 30 seconds to grate some cheese or fry an egg.
The rest is just bread sitting in a toaster or cheese under a broiler.
@@meko98743if I'm gonna make the effort of toasting and grating something then it's better to go out of my way to make a 5-10 minute meal. If I really don't have the luxury to make one then I'll choose a sandwich instead. Breads on toast is like saying I want my rainbow black and white only
imagine getting back home late, 11pm and the kids are hungry, you know they love beans on toast, so you decide to make some
then your spouse says "what are you doing, just make shakshuka instead it's just as easy"
what are you talking about

Beans on toast is cringe.
