    Full Setup Video - • AmpliFi ALIEN Router U...
    This router is quite fast, and absolutely smashed every router I have tested so far for speed. I will say that the range is very good for a single point (you can get a
    unit with an extra mesh point that increases range, but for $320 more). The only issue I had while testing this guy was connection in 2 rooms in my house furthest from the router, but I did have a 3 point system prior to this and I have to respect that! In my home, I would need the mesh point, if only I could purchase it currently (still out of stock). I hope you enjoy the video, and be sure to watch the setup if interested using the link above.

    got mine about two days ago and it's been amazing. we mainly use wifi overhere with 20 plus devices and it's been the best router that we've tested for our needs , especially during these times! Nice Review!

    Upgraded from the Amplifi hd mesh system to two Alien routers, one at the modem in basement and the second on the main floor of my approximately 2000 sq ft ranch. I am extremely happy with my speeds and connectivity.

      bonzyb does it increase upload and download speeds? If i had 18 megabit download would the AmpliFi alien increase it to more than 18 megabits? I really need to know

      @@J1gzaw_ If you are receiving an internet plan of 18 down from your ISP, no. If you are paying for 100 down from an ISP, it will help carry that speed further.

    Mine is coming today. After a horrible experience with the Netgear RAX120 (random disconnects, a month of troubleshooting, non-existent support) and unimpressive performance from the Velop MX5 (highly reliable but not great coverage and speeds) I believe 3rd time will be the charm and this router will be able to handle my network.

      @@fervali6415 great! Have no problems with all my devices. Best part is how great the community is and support. I had an issue with my PS5 and was easily able to talk to in detail with tier 3 support. They are very knowledge and responsive. Will highly recommend this router. Check out the community forums to see for yourself.

      techgooch It’s amazing, so much control and security and all pretty easy to use. A great modern interface that isn’t tacky like Asus ones are. It doesn’t have WiFi 6 but personally I have no WiFi 6 devices and my internet is only 70mbps, the only way I can upgrade that is wait a few years for gigabit internet to reach my house, pay several thousands for a fibre to be fitted to my house from the telephone exchange, or move! I could do with the Mesh beacon they make for the Dream Machine but it’s not on sale here in the U.K. yet.

    I have a question, is there something I need to do in settings to get my full speed WiFi or Ethernet?? I have CenturyLink fiber 1Gb down and up but when I do speed test threw multiple devices, I’m getting 90gb down and up. I did a speed test with the alien using the touch screen and I get the same numbers but when I do a speed test on the app, it gives me 980Gb down and 900Gb up!!! What am I doing wrong??

      It would improve speed for the area around the router, but I would not trade a 3 point system for this single point unit. If you were to purchase the Alien + the extra mesh point, I would in a heart beat if you can justify the price!

      There are two offerings. #1 Set of one Router and one mesh node with no screen. This is necessary if you want a mesh network. #2 is the standalone Router, but according to support, it will not run multiple mesh nodes, you need #1 first to and to be #1.

    SSIDs are names. Additional SSIDs in the settings refers to adding another name for each radio, not changing the functionality of the second 5ghz radio. Second 5ghz radio can not support wifi 6. There's a couple moments like this where you kind of barrel through something you don't understand and just guess. You don't need to get a networking cert but you should look up what the features of the product you're reviewing do or just not mention them when you don't know what they are. It's a bit disingenuous to your viewers and to the manufacturer to not only not understand the product you're reviewing but actively misinform people trying to learn about it.

    • @techgooch
      @techgooch  Před 3 lety

      It’s not about not understanding, it’s about not saying correctly what I mean. I am aware of splitting the spectrums

    • @stevenrogers2900
      @stevenrogers2900 Před 3 lety

      @@techgooch You literally pointed at the secondary 5ghz radio feature saying the toggle below it could make it wifi 6. Set your ego down and take the feedback. I'm not talking about 2.4 and 5 ghz having separate SSIDs. I'm talking about the 2.4 ghz having multiple SSIDs. It's not splitting anything.
