    I just installed the router with the mesh. Easiest router I've ever installed. Plug and Play. Took 5 minutes. Plugged it into the ISP modem, gave it an SSID, password, and ran the updates, and it rebooted. That's it, you're done. BTW, the screen on this thing looks super cool. The app interface is very easy, straight forward. I have 3 Axis cameras, Axis NAS, file server NAS, several automated home devices, phones, laptops, Amazon firestick, couple TV's, PS4, Wii. All 14 devices are connected and running smoothly. LOVE IT.

    I tried to go to your website to contact you there, but it seems to be having some issues. I have a question to see if you might be willing to check something out on this router for me. With all of the other mesh wifi routers I've seen, as soon as you enable the Bridge Mode, it basically removes any of the advanced features of the router, just making it a dumb access point. What happens on this one when Bridge Mode is enabled? All the cool stuff still work, or does it dumb it down? I want to use this as an access point but still have all the cool features. Thanks!

    • @Virtualmix
      @Virtualmix Před 4 lety +1

      Yes you can. 1 router = 1 LAN, even if your router is dual band.
      The router treats all devices as being on the same LAN even if the 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless have different SSID and password.
      In fact, if you wanted to create a separate LAN you would need to connect another network switch to the router and configure a different subnet...
      I've used this setup for years on my dual band router.

    • @Virtualmix
      @Virtualmix Před 4 lety +1

      Your Internet speed and your local network speed are not the same.
      The speed between "the internet" and your copper phone line is controlled by your ISP. Call them to upgrade.
      Your local Wifi speed depends on your wifi router. To increase it, get a faster router.
      Your ACTUAL internet speed is the speed of the slowest link between you and the internet (either your ISP or your router). If your ISP gives you 10mbps, installing a 1000 mbps router will allow you to fully enjoy your 10mbps Internet but it's the fastest you'll ever get.
      Another exemple: If you pay for 100mbps internet but your wifi sucks and can't provide more than 50mbps, upgrading your router will allow you to increase your overall speed and make the most of your connection.
      Hope this helps.

      @@MrKevosmin it's a good one but overpriced in my opinion. I didn't keep mine since the range wasn't better than my 5 year old Asus router. Also the settings are very limited.
      If you need a mesh router, it's equivalent to other options available on the market today. If you like this brand, I think Amplifi is better value for money.

    • @Virtualmix
      @Virtualmix Před 2 lety

      @@MrKevosmin Look at the Unifi products line. You could use a Dream Machine (non-pro) inside your house and add Access Points (APs) anywhere you need extended coverage (either mesh or wired AP). If you need WiFi outside your house, add a waterproof AP outside. This is what hotels or owners of large properties do. It may seems overkill for a home but if you really want reliable WiFi over a large surface area you have to step up your game. Unifi is the perfect prosumer brand for the job because of it's price point and ease of use.
      My house is 2000sqf and I have a Dream Machine + 2 wired APs on each floor as well as 1 mesh AP for extra coverage. I never have to worry about poor WiFi reception again :p

    I had to try a head to head comparison between the ASUS AX92U vs. the Amplifi Alien after hearing/seeing all the hype. Have to say the results are disappointing for the Alien. Not only did it not cover as much ground as the Asus but the speeds were less, the VPN (teleport) also spies on you/your data which, anyone like me in the network security arena will tell you is a huge NO NO. The ASUS has ton more features, built in VPN and the speed blows this away. Just giving you folks my honest opinion since I've now used both.

Only Wifi-5 signal holds good speeds - but then I did not need a Wifi6 router in that case right? Customer support tried all kinds of things with no resolution. I am reading on reddit and Amplifi forum that many folks have similar/same issue. This router is NOT ready for mainstream use till they freaking fix their crappy software.

      Your device will need to be wifi 6 compatible make use of this feature. If you're comparing 5GHz speeds accross two routers, chances are the result will be very close. The Nighthawk is a good dual band router, if you don't use wifi 6, I don't see how the Alien would make much difference. The Alien may have better wifi coverage but it would need to be tested.
