    I got this bad boy about 1 month ago and I’m really happy with it. My property is only 2500 square foot and it’s a all brick house and even in the basement where I had no coverage before I get 200mbps up/down out of the 400 of my data plan. If you got a high speed data this thing is a must otherwise you’re just throwing your money away cause your paying for something you’re not getting.

    I have Netgear Orbi System RBR50 Router and RBS50 Satellite almost 3 years old now and it still gets 440 mb/s download wirelessly on both my phone and computer connected to RBS50 satellite which is insanely good for a old system. I think you should compare Orbi Wifi 6, its probably better than AMPLIFI Alien.

      I went back to my Gryphon router and have 450-500 mb/s speeds on all devices. I have no idea if it just does better in a highly congested signal area or what the issue was with the Alien. I will try a new WiFi 6 system this winter. Thanks for the tip!

    I love had this router for about a month now and I haven't had any hiccups whatsoever with it and its definitely a conversation piece but for how advanced the router is, the app is a little too basic. Setup was very simple, closer to 3 min in reality. Just wish there was more customization for a router of this price but for the consumer who just wants to "set it and forget it" you cant go wrong with the alien

    Any update on the use of this? Have you noticed if the ipad is working better? I would be a little concerned about the explanation that they gave you about congestion because thats the whole point of wifi 6 is to improve congestion performance and seeing that you had to compatible devices i would have expected faster speeds. But there is the other side of the coin and it could have been a poor implementation on apples part which might improve with a few updates.

    The iPad Pro 2020 and iPhone 11 have two streams in 80 MHz, i.e. theoretical speeds of 866 Mbps in Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) vs 1201 Mbps in Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax).
    This is theoretical so never reached. In reality, you gain between 50 to 140mbps with wifi 6 over wifi 5 on these devices.

So I have a main alien router connect to my internet cable on the wall, and I have another one alien2 connect to the main alien by air mesh, and my PC connects to alien2 by using the actual cable, what kind of internet speed should I expect on my PC if I have 1000 Mbps internet? thanks.

    • @FastRedPonyCar
      @FastRedPonyCar Před 3 lety

      If you have two alien's connected together meshed using ethernet as what is called a backhaul and your PC is wired via ethernet into either alien, you will see maximum speeds of 1gigabit per second as that's the maximum speed the alien can transfer data. What your actual internet speed will be for you depends on what speed plan you have from your internet provider but the Alien itself is capable of a full 1 gigabit upload and download per second.

      Sorry to hear that! Are you using the Alien?

      @@dad.0 Yes, of course I am. The replacement unit arrived today. But I think these units are maxed out at around 500 if I had to guess. Ubiquity doesn’t advertise this though. You wont find any speed numbers advertised on their website for speed.

      @Jake Roberts that’s pretty much the same. 550 Mbps.

      @Jake Roberts I think the selling point of the alien is multiple connections that are supposed to be stable. Additional SSIDs are available so you can run PlayStation or cameras and they are supposed to be able to stay connected and stable but you won’t see more than approx 500 MBPs on any of those WiFi connections. I have 980 Mbps on a hard wire and still don’t see over 500 Mbps over WiFi.

      @Jake Roberts I don’t think you’ll see more than 500 WiFi but try it and let us all know.

    Your choice for background view is poor too much glare unpleasant to look at, how many square foot coverage is this wifi on the unit advertised for ?

      Sorry man, small operation here. Wish I had a studio with controlled lighting but not yet. No rating anywhere I can find. Not even on their spec sheet on the Amplifi website.
