I really don't get why he is so well known, and people think he is one of the worst killers ever. He is just some loser fat old man that killed people that's it nothing special. The buffalo shooter guy that streamed his killings is worse than this guy also Nick Cruz the Florida shooter is way worse than the "Son of Sam" and yet they are both not famous like this guy I dunno it just doesn't make sense to me you agree? Not to say this son of Sam guy isn't bad he still killed people and ruined a lot of family's lives. He just isn't nearly as bad and infamous as they make him out to be in my opinion.
@@ltshaw1140 probably a big issue is when there's a big hunt for a killer and no one knows who it is. Jack the Ripper being a prime example. If they'd have found him, and done so early the world would have probably have forgotten all about him now.

Good point. And then so much of the time no one asks the victims whether it's okay to make yet another sensationalized TV show or movie about the person who butchered their children or what have you. Then those victims have to listen to their phones ring off the hook and watch their inboxes fill up with messages from people telling them there's a new bit of media about this psycho.
Thevics often get paid absolutely nothing for all of that.

No surprise the cops flubbed this. It's a problem as old as law "enforcement" namely cops screwing things up. I've seen SO many interviews of old, retired detectives admitting that police so often screwing things up, mishandling evidence...doing stupid things like breaking into a suspect's car or house, etc. There's an old saying in police investigations: "Police are the number one destroyers of crime scenes." It happened with the Golden State Killer, too. Police have long since allowed ego and impulse to cause their biggest problems. The problem with so many officers/detectives in law enforcement is that MOST of them are just ordinary guys (or gals) that aren't particularly smart or gifted. The really smart ones are few and far between. It's SO clear that the Car sons, the actual sons of Sam Car, were involved. There were SOOOOO many clues and things they never even checked out. I've seen this is many other instances. And then...there's the politics where investigators have to "close the case" and make it go away, especially when they realize major screw ups were committed by some flatfoot cops and public pressure and that from politicians forces them to act in haste and publish bullshit lies or half-baked half-truths.
_BINGO!!!_ If one actually starts to look into the various actors and circumstances surrounding this case, one would have to be an abject _idiot_ to still believe Berkowitz acted alone! Unfortunately, I fear the reasons why this hasn't been pursued by law enforcement (despite the fact that _even detectives that worked the case_ -- like Detective Hank Cinotti -- firmly believe there were others involved) goes a bit beyond simple incompetence on their part. The Carr family is just the tip of a _very_ large iceberg, the great bulk of which still lies under events to this day. And it's _not_ just a bunch of Satan-worshipping lunatics hanging out in a park at night doing strange rituals. Those are merely the soldiers of _far_ more powerful, well-monied individuals, who have progressed enormously since the events of the Son of Sam murders in their ultimate plans for society at large.
We're in a _lot of trouble!_

@@WallofJohn Yes -- I've heard about that Netflix documentary through Manny Grossman's eponymous youtube channel (which is almost dedicated _entirely_ to the subject of the SoS killings) and have wanted to watch it but haven't had a chance. My wife and I sort of made a mutual agreement to not view media dedicated to crime and violence -- and so, when I asked for a special dispensation in this case, I kind of got... well... anyone who's married would likely understand. lol

Watching these documentaries on Netflix are appalling to know how many times police mess up on a case not only that how political related as long as they catch someone to say they are the suspect just to help their own careers, this is not how a justice system should work it shouldn’t be political this is why there are so many cases not fully investigated like they should be. I believe once the police found out Maury was investigating the Carrs turn up dead “accidentally” I don’t think anyone could cover up a crime other than law enforcement which has been proven multiple times. So who can we really trust? Not law enforcement we are supposed to look up to them but a lot of these shows are proving otherwise. Even todays crime like with George Floyd and others no one can fully trust law enforcement. Law enforcement has great ties politically and governmentally meaning they can get away with just about anything.

I have conflicting opinions about inmates selling stuff for profit because many people don’t realize inmates have to pay for a lot of their stuff. It’s not free and the prisons sell commissary at extortionary prices for prison profit. And prisoners sometimes have no choice but to buy commissary. For example, if they don’t bathe and use deodorant, they stink, and living in small living quarters with others people don’t like that so they have to buy hygiene products or get beat up but to buy products they need money. However many people their spouses, friends and family cut ties when they go to prison so they have no money being given to them so how do they buy stuff? They have to make money somehow and prison jobs don’t provide enough money.
Likewise the prisons don’t always give enough food to fill a person up so the inmates are forced go buy food off commissary. I believe it’s just for the prison system to make money.
Sometimes prisoners have to pay for their own medical care.
They have to pay their own postage and telephone calls.
If they need documents, they have to pay for them.
If all their essentials were provided then they would not need money but if their basic needs aren’t being met then they need money.
Only got caught by his own stupidity, illegally parked and ticketed.
Best thing to do would be to dispatch him to God ASAP!

But Jesus forgave him, Jesus is the final judge. If he is forgiven by God, how can you accuse that forgiveness of being unjust. Jesus was judged on the cross for what Berkowitz did, so the price is paid. He should be in prison, but he shouldn’t be killed. He can still do a lot of good for people in Jesus.

He tries to say it was the devil that made him do it, but we know just as he does it was actually his lack of success with women and lack of social life completely. He literally goes on a whole rant about how pivotal just buying certain things and getting an apartment was in his life, to me that shows a total lack of success in life.
