Just like to say I watch this video roughly annually, and it's the best mostly informative fish prep video I've seen. I now sweat by these techniques. Thanks kosta you legens
The fjords are full of herring where i live. Now I gonna try cookt, salted, pickled, dried, smoked, boild and more!!!!!! Thanks for a wery nice and simple presanration! I fish a lot bigger fish, but herring we uses for bait..!👍
In Holland we salt them, wait for them to turn bad and eat them raw! With pickles and onions. Just grab them bij the tail and bite them while hanging them above your head! That's how you eat a herring! :)
If you put the hot brine onto the fish into the jar like that, it starts cooking the herring. I tried it and the herring came out disgustingly mushy. Also, why sugar?
Thank you, I need to eat more herring , It's a better fish for my health. I just can't have it smoked in a tin all the time. No matter how much I love it that way .
sorry FHKWC that is not the recht way whe do it in holland you cut to much of by the head and we leave the tail on and we do not cut them all the way tro

I love this video, and this guy. I wish I could do this, but my wife won't let me bring that much herring home to a vancouver apartment.

I love pickled herring; either marinated in just vinegar, sugar and onions or the more fancy methods using sour-cream with dill or beets.

So much olive oil for a fish that is already oily?
If you pour the hot brine onto the herring, doesn't it cook it instantaneously and make it mushy?
