    How to repair a Pull Rope Assembly, Honda 3 wheeler, HELP! ATC Repair
    This episode I rebuild a pull rope assembly from a 1983 Honda 185s. Each video in this series breaks down another step in the process of rebuilding and maintaining your Honda ATC 3 wheeler. Think of this series as a how to or an online shop manual for easy, quick repairs for your 3 wheeler. I pick up where the dealer has left off. Many of these tips will apply across the model lines of most ATC 3 wheelers from the 70, 90, 185, 200 and even the 250 four strokes and 350x. I focus on the major repairs that are most common to ATC owners. I show you how I make the repairs and hopefully you will save some money for yourself and be able to get back on the trail enjoying your ATC.

    I just got all the missing decompression parts to finish rebuilding my recoil for my 200s. Hook plate, decompression spring, rubber cushion pad and the recoil rebuild kit. Hopefully it won't pull the rope out of my hand when I'm starting it like it did when I was a teenager. It had parts missing for a long time. Thanks for the rope install video. See you on the live stream 👍🏿

      That spring can be a pain. Use a glove if you can

    My pull rope doesn't retract on it its own. I need to kind of walk it back in. Is that usually indicative of a bad spring or something else?

    • @mrcbuilds
      @mrcbuilds  Před 2 lety +2

      Could be weak spring, take the assembly off, add 1 rotation to the rope like I show in the video, that should do it.

    Awesome video man helped a lot. That little notch on the pulley saves a lot of time and aggravation. Wish my chainsaw had one

      Could you explain your question a little bit. Are you asking about the decompression system?

      @@mrcbuilds I need to rewind or fix my starter rope, it doesn’t go all the way back without alot if help. I have the 1983 185s with the compression cable that attaches to the unit. Just wondering if there is anything to be careful about. In your video it didn’t have one. Thanks for you channel. It has helped me get mine going and been having so fun acting like a mechanic

    • @mrcbuilds
      @mrcbuilds  Před 2 lety +2

      The decomp system sits just inside the recoil housing, it has a band spring and a bail that catches and resets every pull. It can be a pain if your missing any of the parts. You can start the machine with out it. But it does make it easier.
      Take it out first and set it aside as an assembly if yours is incat and working. You can add tension to the rope spring buy winding it up like in the video. I hope that helps.
