I don't play but figured I'd let you all know what happen here in Lexington SC....some guy went to a well known shop to buy the same ones, bought a whole case and turned out the was all re sealed...he filed a lawsuit and pressed charges, when the county went there to investigate it they found 5 more cases all re sealed and in the back strink wrap heat gun etc etc....the shop is now closed and owner is in jail they was charged with grand larcany and other things....so karma does work sometimes

It was year and half ago, but think it was around 21k in total.....you got to remember even in this case of video 25.00 times 14 is 350.00 on one customer so 3 more customers be a felony charge

@Steven Hickman Money. Has nothing to do with the cards. People will fake ANYTHING to increase their own profit margin. Sports fans do it with fake memorabilia. Car mechanics do it by swapping out parts in vehicles and rolling back mileage. Farmers do it with fake produce (ie. This is organic!!!). Product companies do it with fake supplements or tainted supplements. There are a TON of wealthy people who have created no value to their clients and simply gypped people out of money. One of the EASIEST ways to make money, and there is VERY limited risk. I'd venture to guess that a very small percentage of people who run this sort of gimmick ever get caught, especially if they keep it scaled to a small operation.

this literally happened to me at the last pre-release i went to, but it wasnt the shop owners fault, as he handed them out, and people started commenting on the lack of rares, he went through and realized someone had resealed the cases.
His entire inventory had been gone through. Cops got involved, turned out it was the guy who delivered them, and he hadnt stopped at just the pre-release cards, he had gone through ALL the packages, and resealed them.
We get bad shipping up here, so sometimes your order tracking is off, might be why the shop owner didnt suspect foul play when his delivery was a day or so late.

You should try it out. It's an awesome game and it is not as expensive as Rudy makes it seems. The game has 5 main constructed formats: Legacy, which uses all the expensive old cards Rudy shows off; Modern, which uses cards from the last 18 years and has an entry cost of about USD 2k but with cards that retain their value (you don't lose a lot of money since you can resell cards later); Standard, which is Wizards cash cow and has an entry of about USD 1K (probably less), but with cards that keep rotating and forcing you to buy new booster packs every couple months; Commander, which is more casual and very diverse, it's possible to build very good decks that win a couple hundred dollars and there is also room to go over USD 5K+ with a deck (but it's not pay to win, the couple hundred decks beat the high end expensive decks often); and Pauper, which isn't sanctioned but has been growing really strongly, with competitive decks that cost less than USD 100. I think you should try out pauper at your LGS, mtg is a truly awesome game.

A year later, a friend's dad shows off how he did it, and he'd been at it for a while. He had a locked cabinet with big black binders loaded with stolen cards, hidden in his garage. He thought he was so cool, and then he showed off how he got them. He was resealing packs with fabric glue, smiling the whole way as he explained it. I'll be honest, at age 9, when I put 2 and 2 together, all I could do was burst out crying and run home. Never explained why to anyone, lied about why when asked. I worked for a small chain of game stores around the turn of the century. We kept a shrink wrap machine at every store for the purpose of allowing customers to open and examine board game components and to seal products that arrived with damaged wrap (or none at all). During the time I was there, the Pokémon TCG launched. A few months into that insanity, the company fired half the staff of one store for looting and resealing individual card packs using the machine. It was ridiculous.
If you should find evidence of tampering, let people in your local community know and try to show the evidence to the highest level manager you can access at the store. Store owners and management, particularly at small stores and regional chains, should all be well aware of the dangers associated with losing community trust over a short-term scam, so it's more likely a disgruntled employee doing it without their knowledge. Let the management know that until you can be confident that their products are legitimate, they'll no longer receive your business. If it comes up enough, you'll either hear that something has changed through local contacts or the whole shop can be written off. But you should let people in a position of authority at the store know, lest they have their business destroyed because they were unaware of an untrustworthy person or persons in their employ.

I was first suspicious when I didn't see the official Yu-Gi-Oh! brand Egyptian eye plastic seal and when I looked through the whole collection and the Egyptian God cards weren't in the set. I looked everywhere and when I emailed them they assured me several times that they can't tamper with those because they are sealed by Konami. I reached out to Konami who said that they check everything to 100% and would not ship a set without all the items in it. I reached back out to the card store and told them what Konami said and they told me there wasn't anything they could do. I took screenshots that showed the same cards (the set number matched) were being sold on their store individually. I left a 1 star review explaining what they did and that they're screwing over their consumers and said I would happily take down the review if I got what I was promised. After nearly 2 weeks arguing with them they finally sent the cards and I left the same review, adding in parts about how terrible the customer service was on top of scamming customers. Unfortunately I don't think this guy will be able to get what he was owed by the store that screwed him but hopefully some kind of justice will be served.

No one hires a lawyer for small claims court...
Do you even know the difference in the court systems?... Or do you think they are all the same?... Jesus.
I mean, do you even think that every court case is represented by a lawyer? Do you know what self representation is?
Imagine how stupidly cost defficient it would be if I had to hire a lawyer to get back my 200$ TV that my crazy-ex stole from me but I have the receipt and box for.

It's common for stores like this to rip people off. When I was a kid, I played mtg, and only my knowledge of card values saved me. Almost every store I went too would farm kids for their rare collectibles/cards. I was even kicked out of a store for telling a kid not to sell a card for what they being offered because it was really rare, despite what they were being told. It's not every store obviously, but you can tell which ones are in it for the fun/hobby and the ones that are in it for the money. Buyer beware.

We want people coming back to play not to crush them so they never want to play again. You played with the wrong group

There’s a card shop I use to go with my friend and we went to buy Yugioh Cards and my friend bought 60 dollars worth of packs from the display and didn’t pull a single card that has value, just cheap super rare cards that come with every pack. So he got so pissed off and demanded the store owner to open a new box right in front of him and he ended up getting good stuff from the new box. This store was notorious for weighing their own packs or resealing in the past and we found out that day we went cause we talked to people there and they all said that they don’t buy packs anymore only singles cause they were suspicious about it. We ended contacting Konami and had that store blacklisted. So Konami made it an unofficial store for tournaments which means that they don’t provide them with OTS packs anymore. Also they would take out the good Duel Terminal cards from the machine and sell them and leave the common ones inside.

So, I saw this video in my recommended feed, and was like "huh, this is weird..." -
A little backstory (brief): I just came out of a group of stores in my area all named "Dragon's Keep" - I've been a bit annoyed with them all for only selling boxes at per pack prices. I asked if I can buy SEALED boxes, and they all laughed at the idea. "Why?" - Because, I don't need you guys rat-fucking the packs. Sure as shit, tried to buy a box anyway, hey, I want to support my "F"LGS - before I bought the actual box, I reached in and felt the packs - everyone has noted that the Throne of Eldraine boxes have some poorly cut packs that house "the good stuff". Magically - no such packs existed in the box. But, here's the kicker: The store was selling two such boxes, and they had eight "random" packs opened on the side table (where they do prep projects) and lo-and-behold - all of the "good stuff" just happens to be there, and they're selling them all as singles. So, f* those guys.

This time I watched him open the it. It didn’t have a promo. The odds of that are crazy. So he brought that back to the guy and said it didn’t have a promo again.
