- I was able to pick up the Trickflow 240 heads for the Big block mopar dyno 440 build series, that recently began.
The trickflow 240 heads are the best street head that’s currently available for the big block mopar.
These heads were checked out and slightly modified by @edsmachine93. He has videos showing his progress on these exact heads. He also did the machine work on the 440 HP block that I’m building for this project.

Nice Job Joe Marry Christmas
Thanks brother. Merry Christmas! 🎄 Hope you check out the dyno series coming on the 440 I’m working on. It gets the trickflow 240’s 💪🏻
Great video . I believe Ed would have made a great heart surgeon . He wants it to be right if he sends it out !
Thanks Terry.
I really appreciate you. 👍
Right on’
I have them on my .040 over 440 with stock rods and factory crank in my 70 GTX. I added the Edelbrock performer rpm intake, comp cams .509 lift cam, flat hydraulic tappet. .020 thick head gaskets 1 7/8” TTI headers and flat top pistons. Cranking compression is 190 psi and mathematically compression ratio is 10:2:1. Edelbrock 800 CFM carb and roller 1:5 rockers. On the dyno is dyno’d at 540 hp and 555 tq. No more pinging, no more heat issues, no more gasoline boiling in the carb. Love these heads.
Awesome!
Thanks Joe, great video.
Always a good time when you come to the shop.
Thanks for the shout out.
Take care, Ed.
What are your thoughts with these heads and a high lift solid roller cam Ed?
@@ninjapumkin I think it is a great idea in the right application.
Change and install the appropriate valve springs.
Thanks for the help and solid work. It’ll be a great engine for a slick car!
I wish someone would make some good low buck aluminum small block heads.
I don't know about "low buck" but TrickFlow does make a set for the SB Mopar... The TrickFlow PowerPort 190. They make them for the 318 and 360. Looks like they are LA block heads but can be used on a Magnum but will need a LA intake and shaft rockers...
MAE, it’s the truth. Everyone’s perception of low buck and high performance are also subjective. I like seeing nice parts like the trickflow stuff that’s readily available for the street packages. They claim 620 hp with a 440 that has 10.5 compression. That’s a fun pump gas big block, in a kit that’s available for under 5k. Exciting stuff, and true to the roots versus the new gen 3 hemi swaps
@@moparsareeverything1980 thanks! Merry Christmas 🎄
Trick Flow are very nice heads! Should be a great 440 !!! and Ed knows Big Block Heads!
They’re looking nice!
hey Joe your buddy is speaking the truth, he's a good guy to have in your tool box, great video, I have the 270's and taking what he saying to heart
Thanks brother
👍👍
Thanks brother
I’m ready for the dyno episode. Should be a good motor for the man.
Absolutely!
Very nice heads Joe. 👌
Thanks brother. Wish they were mine 😂
It's good You Tube came along. Lots of good info. I'm sure a lot of old timers back in the day passed away and took a wealth of knowledge with them.
Absolutely true! My dad would say he had forgotten more than I’d ever know 😂
B1 Originals ported by Kofflle. The best wedge head Iv ever owned . They require a custom piston but they flow big numbers.
Oh yes, very nice heads. But are they the best street head? Considering the custom parts needed with them?
@@JustMoparJoe No way. The are moved centerline crazy shallow valve angle = tiny combustion chamber. After all the work mine were 49 cc. 456cfm on intake @ 7.00 lift. But they would make steam over 9000. Not a street head lol. My next build will have the trick flow.
That's going to be a really nice 440 !!! you can't miss with Ed doing the machining and Joe putting it all together !! Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to both of you and your familes !!!
Merry Christmas and happy New Year!
Great explanation and work Ed!!!
Thanks! 👍
Thanks Greg , I really appreciate it.
Yep i believe the push rod story on our 🇦🇺 265 Hemi 6 swapping push rod is like a cam change oh by the way don’t underestimate what a 265 Hemi will put to shame been there done that . MOPAR to the front . 👍🏻💯🇦🇺⛽️.
Thanks for the info! That’s an awesome engine
Awesome video💥💥
Thanks brother
Thanks for this vid! Absolutely agree too. Trickflow is the goal but stealth is affordable option for most guys (still feel the eddy are a total mistake). You get what you pay for and you've proven that quite well here Ed!!!
I got to finish the stealth work today! Video soon
I installed those heads on my 440/Challenger build just as they came. My engine builder was very impressed by the quality and even the valve job. I also installed the 1 7/8" TTI headers. Excellent fit.
Great to hear!
Nice work Ed and they look like promising castings!! Nice to hear the alloy is high quality!! I think under 500" these may be the ultimate head!!
Thanks Rodney.
I appreciate it.
You may have something with the 500 ci and under.👍👍
@@edsmachine93Port volume!! We need to get Just Mopar Joe (Williams) to spring for some 270TFs!! #511lowdeck
I hear ya!
I will have to have Ed work his magic on my set of TrickFlow 240 heads. I wonder what shipping will cost???
It shouldn’t be terrible to ship. I would imagine under $100 one way.
Thank you Joe...good content...hope to see this build and maybe on the dyno...
Coming soon! I have the cam installed and degreed.
I want some ! ❤😂
I’d run them!
Good stuff. Thanks to both you and Ed for this.
Thanks Mike, I appreciate it.
Have a great week.
Thanks Mike!
Great job, Ed!
Thanks Michael.
Great video on these heads!
Thanks brother! Can’t wait to try them
Awsome content thanks for sharing
Thanks for the support!
I have the TF240's on my 440. Dynoed at 620 hp and 580 tq. On pump gas with some 110 fuel. 10.3:1 comp. .613" bullet cam w/1.6 roller rockers. Have run 10.84@ 124 in my 72 Challenger, 3700# .
Awesome! We are going milder on this cam since it’s a show car, but definitely want to have some dyno fun. I’m working on the cam install and degree video. This one should be 10.5+\1
I'm watching to see how you go about building this motor, and can't wait to see it on the dyno!
MOPAR to to front 😀👍🏻💯⛽️🇦🇺.
Yes sir!
Good video Joe,,Ed throwed some good advice out there on getting custom pushrods 👍 👍
For sure. We have to on this deal, because it’s getting the B3 rocker setup. It’s a first for me
I thought you were Big Mike there for a minute!
Haha! If you squint really hard then, maybe 😂
What were the flow gains from the port work? I’m really curious what was gained by knocking down all the ridges and smoothing the transitions.
Excellent question. We don’t really have a way of knowing. But these heads did have some craters that you could fit a kernel of corn 🌽 in.
MP 425 wedge Alu have Thes heads CNC ported 0.585 lift flows 310 cfm.Thats good flow!!! 440 sixpacks even thes are ported!!!! Have weiand Tunnel Ram intake! Have even Pro shot Fogger Nos system!!
(CNC CAMBER TOU) Have thes on May Challenger 70 Se Clone car 1 oner in sweden.Californien car 100% solid weery Nice car..Have good options like power windos 6way adjusterbal chear GW Overdrive 3Member 4.10 gear.Weery fast Street car 9sek car 402m...
Excellent!
So Joe, for those of us that can't afford the TF heads because of $, would you recommend the 440Source heads as a suitable upgrade over a stock 906 for a 500hp street motor?
Absolutely! I’ve got one more video to show on mine
Joe, put Comp Cams Beehive Spring #26918 on them...
I will write that one down. I already own these doubles. It was a deal I couldn’t refuse! Lol
They are well thought stock replacement heads, but the best for a stock block? Best for what? It depends.
Trick flow makes very good products but like all parts that you buy now, they need a little work.If the valve job is good those heads should make good power
Absolutely. I’m excited to try them on the 440 build
Does the trick flow top end kit mention 600 hp capable? With the 240 heads?
Yes sir. It says 620 hp with these heads and a more aggressive cam.
As far as best all around big block performance head, rpms hard to beat
Good flow numbers out of the box , bolt on deal
Do you mean Edelbrocks? My e streets were pretty rough. Their quality control has suffered quite a bit since the move from California.
@@JustMoparJoe no not the E Streets I never buy them
I like the standard RPMS
We run them on several big blocks
Mine straight out the box,
Flow numbers may not be as big as a big race head but very efficient
how do they compare to BB chevy heads ? or are we still fighting an uphill battle ?
They don't. Trickflow heads like these are really good quality but will not flow like BBC heads.
Damn ..thought mopar could move ahead a bit @@Comet-hn3gm
They won't blow anything close to a Chevy head the 396 Chevy had a 265 CC head not near big enough so why does anybody think a 240 CC head is good enough for a 440 if you're trying to make horsepower to compete with a big block Chevy
Still doing uphill battle unless you get B1 heads.
Uphill battle easily won.
Its called a hemi.
Did Ed flow test them?
No sir. I think he may have a plan of that with another brand BBM head.
Comparing an aluminum 906 (stealth) to a real performance head.
The stealth is quite a bit different than the 906. I realize they copied the outside, but the ports and chambers are different. You may have inspired a video 😂
There's plenty of good heads for Mopars the problem is the week blocks both big and small that you can't make any big horsepower out of
Compare them to Chevrolet and Ford stock blocks. Mopar blocks were the best. Aftermarket blocks will always be stronger. But there are plenty of guys with 800+ horse on stock blocks. There should be more with the advances in ignition and timing controls.
horsepower is an opinion? WTF? that's weird.
I had a coach that once said, buttholes are like opinions. Everyone has one and they all stink.
@@JustMoparJoe yes, yes, they do. your coac is a smart man.
@@andy347495 sadly, he likes football more than Mopars
