He put an entire animation at the begining. This is his way of admiting that RotS takes itself SO seriously that it wraps around to being plain silly again (hence being the most memeable star wars film to date!). Tfa is okay in my opinion and that's because of the characters. I like kylo, finn, poe and rey but Rey is kinda weird for me. Like she is supposed to be the main character but I feel like she is more of a character that supports kylo's story and thats fine for me because I think kylo is an interesting character and tlj builds upon that with the Rey and kylo force connection and even more in the rise of skywalker. But I do think they wasted finn. Like he could've been way more interesting character. But the story that Abrams wrote wasn't that great. I still like it but it could've been so much better.

*Rebels:* an ok follow up to Clone Wars that has ok moments, except for Vader vs Ahsoka that was dope

Mandalorian seems to be the one thing people can say "Not my thing" to when they don't like it since the originals. The Prequels aren't anyone's thing and the Disney Trilogy has nostalgia in the first movie and some confusing twists in the second, which all just makes both sides upset at the other. However watching a space cowboy samurai bounty hunter with a baby yoda just resonates with everyone in a good way
Hopefully the Anthology spin offs get some big hits, it's probably the most Disney will get out of the series after this last movie, and I it's a coin flip if they're willing to start a second trilogy

I find your take very interesting. Personally, I like Star Wars to be a combination of weird fun alongside the more serious emotional story, like ROTJ or ROTS. That's probably the reason I liked TLJ so much, I had fun. As much as I enjoyed all the new stuff that was coming out, TLJ was the first thing in a long time that made me feel like I was twelve years old again, watching the original trilogy.
I had the opposite experience, after watching the originals for the first time last year and loving them I watched the prequels to laugh at them but ended up loving them but when I watched TLJ it was the most mind-dullingly boring movie I had seen in a long time. To each their own I guess.

TLJ actually did something new with the story, took it in new directions, made you question what you thought before, that maybe the force and Ray aren't special, big bads aren't special since we can all be bad if we choose and maybe fighting for extremist ideology in pure light/dark sides just creates endless wars. Force Awakens and ROS were just crappy nostalgia pandering regurgitated brainless action, the JJ Abrams sloppy seconds, we've seen these films before and original trilogy did them better.

Just because something is made for kids doesn't make it automatically irrelevant or dumb since it can appeal to both kids and adults alike; animation is just another form of art. The're many classics like Prince of Egypt, Lion King, Hunchback of Notre Dame, the anime movies made by Myozaki, the Dark Crystal (both the movie and Netflix prequel) and many other examples that are considered classics because they can tell well written stories.
Also another thing, Disney's Beauty and the Beast was the first animated movie in receiving an Oscar for Best Picture, Lord of the Rings from 1978 inspired Peter Jackson into creating the trilogy we all know and love, and Batman The Animated Series is considered one of the best interpretations of Batman to this date by hardcore fans.

Return of the Jedi was going to be on a Wookiee world but they changed it to the Ewoks

Ewoks are the design Lucas was originally going to have for Wookies. When he wasn't sure he'd be able to make sequels he decided to give Han Solo a Wookie as a co-pilot but the special effects budget wouldn't be there to make him a _small_ ferocious bear monster so he settled for making Chewbacca huge instead, leaving dialog about things like ripping peoples arms out of their sockets intact.
When it came time to film the final defeat of the empire, he couldn't very well have it be Wookies like Chewbacca since Chewbacca had been shown too acclimated to high technology, so they made tiny Wookies as oiriginally envisioned and put the name backwards.
This's been common knowledge in the Star Wars fandom since 1989...or at least I always thought it was common knowledge until I started using the Internet in the early oughties and saw people throwing shade on my favorite Star Wars aliens for no reason. Yes, they're small teddy bears. Small teddy bears who are vicious savages that eat people.
Both live in trees too. Wookies were going to be on Endor originally.

Yes, and they could've scrapped that like they did with the entire cartoony premise when Empire was made and they wanted people to take things seriously. But they didn't, they instead decided to expand on it, and the end result is that almost every major Star Wars villain is about as compelling as a cardboard cutout of a Nazi. Saying "The dark side was in A New Hope too!" doesn't really save it from being a bad idea.
I agree wholeheartedly with one specific statement in this presentation.
The Holiday Special really does provide the most well-rounded and in-depth look at life for a basic citizen in the Star Wars universe. It is here we see things that are either glanced over in other films or not present at all: various forms of media, cuisine, gadgets, interior architecture, and even interactions between average people and the Imperials.
The closest scene I can think of to this is a brief few frames in Empire when you can see the inside of Luke's rations box (shortly after he lands on Dagobah). You can speculate on what all of those items are supposed to be and where they came from, harvested, processed, etc. In the interests of making a smooth and film-sized film, however, more general details are omitted. The Holiday Special wasn't bound by these standards, and it was really more of needing to _fill_ time rather than molding the story to fit the accepted length of a movie.
I've never thought of the special through that lens, that's pretty interesting. I've never seen the special in full, only bits and pieces, but now I kinda wanna watch it when you bring all that up.

I mean you’re entitled to your opinions, but while I think Stars Wars does have a bunch of goofy ridiculous stuff the original trilogy was a solid fairytale with themes of good and evil and adventure. That’s why people obsessed over it. It was just a solid fairytale like the ones people have been telling for thousands of years
It's textbook "The Hero's Journey", and that might just be the single most important meta-narrative in the history of literature.

The Star Wars Holiday Special. It shows us what could have been. When it was just whacky Star Trek.
So, the thing I’ve come to realize about Star Wars is that it as a series has a profound love of showing creatures that can’t speak our language NOT being dumb, and that language doesn’t make the being.
Perfectly summed up in Ep 1 by Qui Gon to Jar Jar: “The ability to speak does not make you intelligent.”
The point of the Ewoks is, in my view, another example of George Lucas’ desire to show creatures that can’t speak human language still being rather intelligent.

That makes sense that everyone likes what was in the star wars they grew up with, me personally I like the political stuff and scientific explanations they give in the prequels but that's because the first one I watched was phantom menace

i think its more then that, i watched the original triology first, but i still liked the prequel triology more, despite its glaringly bad writing and dialogues at times, but that is because i love world building and political intrigue in a fantasy world more then anything else in fiction.

It's interesting you say that cause as a child Menace is one of the earlier films i remember, and even then, i would skip all the politic bs yo get to the lightsaber fights or the scenes where they talk about the dark side.
