Thanks for the demo guys. I really like the look of the Inov-8 jacket. Of course the Gore jackets are optimum but they are very pricey. Honestly if it's not too cold I like running in the rain, but if a runner is going long on trails they need a jacket that will ward off hypothermia.

Love the Solomon jacket. Totally rain proof. Really like the snap at the top that allows you to unzip the jacket for air intake without it flying open. However, a major design flaw is that there are no exit vents such as pit zips or anything on the back. Often times I'm dry from the rain but soaked from my sweat because there's no inside airflow.

I have so far used it once when it looked like rain might strike during my run. I personally use a kalenji running jacket from decathlon, had it for 3 years, basically since I started my running journey 😊 it was super cheap, about 13€, light, more windproof than waterproof, but still does well in the rain, you can easily carry it (when you fold it in a pocket, it has a rubber band) breathability-wise, it's not terrible, not great either, but it's enough 😅 plus, it works perfect for cycling in colder weather ❤️ so, if any beginner is looking to get a jacket without big investment, this one is great 😊 Also, can we do a video on gloves and hats? ❤️

I had one last year (the blue women's version), but always ended up wet... To be fair, I was wearing it in fairly torrential weather at times, and I'm not sure if it was due to water getting in via the sleeves or top, or whether it just wasn't very waterproof. Hey Lesley - if you're new to running you'll probably want to invest in some thermal running gear to keep you warm in the winter. This is sweat wicking but insulated to keep your core warm on really cold days. For running jackets you could start lightweight and inexpensive to find out what you like when you're running. Then, once you've got more experience you can invest in a more expensive jacket once you know the features you really like. Hope this helps :-)

Gore have some great materials, but then the fit lets them down. They really need to sort that out and also remember not all people who run have a marathon runners physique. Some companies do a great job of finding an athletic fit which can fit all kinds of body type as you can just size up.

Hi guys, I’ve found this video very helpful and have ordered a Salomon jacket! I’m also looking for running jackets that are wind proof or wind resistant more than for the rain. Do you have a video for that? Or could you recommend some wind proof running jackets for women? I’m in the US. Thank you!

I can’t run with the jacket on, it is to warm for me. I only put long sleeve on and one t- shirt on. That is enough but after run I have to put the jacket on immediately! It‘s super cold from the sweat!

Thunderstorms scare me from going outside. Can't get on with hoods on running jackets and use a hat with a jacket. Its 11 deg C here in South China and I run after not having eaten for 20 hours, consequently it feels cold.

Ive just started using a inov8 trailshell, deffinalty an improvement over my last cheap one. Described as having a 20,000 hh and the same for breathablility, where as my last one i was soaking wet from sweat. This one only has one inside pocket Though on the chest so not much good for anything heavy. My only main grudge and has always been the same what ever waterproof jacket i use for running is water pooling in the elbow of the sleeves!!! You would think someone would address it and put some sort of holes around the elbow area to allow it drain out !!

Interesting. I have one too, and a kamleika ( which is rubbish in the rain / always has been , even after treating it. )But wondered if that plus the halo would be good enough out on the hills in winter . May look at a stormshell too ( was going for the montane minimus but had several reviews that it’s not very reliable🙈)

Always wear a larger size to wear over you’re running vest or pack.
Wearing a vest or pack can damage the waterproof material on the back of the jacket and then you may as well not wear one

@TheRunningChannel - I've entered the half marathon Du Mont Blanc next year and the mandatory kit says I need a waterproof and windproof jacket, gore tex type. If a jacket says gore tex, does that qualify as waterproof and windproof? Some say gore tex but then say its not fully waterproof. Cheers
