One extra thing about the bloodfiends spear being worse than moghs spear is that you had to kill the boss that gave you the better spear to even get to the worse spear
one better thing i can think of, and this is decent is that the weapon deals 100% damage, scaling off of a higher arcane scaling than mohgwyn's. so it has more bleed buildup, and pure physical so good for shield poke bleed builds to take advantage of counter damage and spear talisman. still too situational to make it good.
The bloodfiend spear does more bleed and damage on the base moveset than mohg's spear, the ashes on both are not very good in pvp so it isn't really a consideration for me
Still insane to me that both of Radahn's swords (Light and Lord) aren't just made into one set of paired swords with a stance that uses each skill for light and heavy attacks.
The fact that the scarlet bud hali doesn’t give *one single nanosec of hyper armor* is one of the most confusing frustrating things I’ve ever seen lol it’s such a good ash and has pretty good stance dmg, but god forbid a GNAT hits you during it
I literally pressed L2 a single time while wielding that weapon and got knocked out of it by one of those teleporting pew pew carian guys then learned I can never press that button again. Gg for what could have been a really fun niche weapon.
For some stupid reason From Software and their simps think giving things hyper armor “would be too op!” when, since you wouldn't be staggered, the boss would be able to attack you as much as it wanted during the animation, which I think is a good tradeoff
@@poporiporo Especially in the DLC where you have your resistances all at 60%+ or so and nearly every hit still takes away half your health bar. Tbh though i think it's because of the evasive nature of this ash that it doesn't give hyper armor. There's been plenty of times i thought i should have gotten hit and didn't. My problem is the weapon just kinda sucks period. Damage wise, i mean.
This choice was really terrible, they basically copied the ordovis weapon skill and pasted it at the devonia’s hammer. Crucible knights build have like 2-3 useful incantations
The only real problem I have with the dlc was WHO THE HECK WAS IN CHARGE OF BALANCING. Rain of Fire and divine bird feathers do bafflingly low damage, no reason to use Romina's spell over Scarlet Aeonia except for the spell slots, Mantle of Thorns is a meme when the sorceries introduced are already anemic in quanity, and spells that require 70+ int/faith aren't nearly as effective as the stat requirements demand. Then the weapons it's like no one asked the question "compared to what". Yeah they look cool but either perform the same function or worse than what's in the base game
Head cannon is that those things were monster OP at their inception so they nerfed them into the ground thinking we will patch it to be balanced/decent when the meta starts getting stale
And it's only the super flashy unique weapons, too. Messmer Soldier Axe, as well as the Messmer Soldier Spear are both s tier top of their class. Messmer axe hits like a truck, easily over 600 AR with just 40/40 str/dex quality infused, and the spear is similar. Combine it with the fact that the axe has the faster moveset and the spear has the short spear heavy attacks (on a greatspear no less), they're murder machines. But then I get God's Godly Divine Sword of Righteous Judgement or something and it does sacred blade with 4 times the cost, half the damage, and no weapon buff. I just don't get it

You have all this build up for a hidden area or boss and you get the weapon and it's just flashy and hits like a wet noodle or has nonsensical scaling. I get not wanting players to steam roll the dlc but investing into a weapon that takes alot of effort to get is just as terrible if it's bad.
Yep! I wish they were great but my str faith build is still going back to Malekith, BB, GUTS and even giant crusher at times because they are all way better than DLC weps
Maybe that's why so many ppl still run around with moonvheil or rivers or stars of ruin / rock sling I made fun of them at first but seeing how most new spells and ashes suck I get it

Really feels like From barely did any balancing for the dlc lol. Between the incants being mostly bad and a ton of AOW of the new weapons being worse than vanilla ones or just being poor without any hyperarmor, I don't know what they were thinking.

@@llawlied6902 It's funny. At release, I did a STR/FTH build. The dlc is giving the same PTSD of everything feeling subpar. But, like you said, once several patches addressed both aspects, the build got very good. I'm expecting a mega patch in the near future. But damn is it weird to see rain of fire and electrocharge (which ask for 30 and 52 FTH respectfully!) and picturing someone go "yes add this in".

One thing I haven't heard people mention, the weapons that split into two when you two hand them allow you to carry the blasphemous blade in the offhand and give you health regen when you two hand them.

Since I didn't see anyone mention it, the Ash of War "Blindfold of Happiness" is a lot worse than Assassins Gambit, since the former doesn't silence your footsteps like Assassins Gambit does. So unless you are crouching, most enemies will still notice you

I thought bloodfiends sacred spear must be bugged. It does like no damage and doesn't even seem to build up much bleed. You can't even kill squirrels and birds with it. It has to be bugged right?

the infinite stamina tear actually has a single pretty decent use. bullying mohg. the infinite stamina crystal tear makes it so you can just spam your damage and poor mohg will just say tres dos unos and then die

Everyone ranks subjective things Even some aspects of the weapon arts are subjective. Early on in the base game a lot of things were overlooked based on subjective experience. Like additional inputs were overlooked. These videos are informative and have a lot of objective information. But most of the lists or ranking videos are subjective in a lot of ways. Anyway, I vote commander asshole and his hippo. I finally beat him last night. But that fight was rediculous. I had to bring in mimic and use bleed on a spear with a great shield and stamina tear and just keep my shield up

The Greatsword of Solitude’s skill vaccum slice reminds me of the Drake sword’s ranged attack from Dark Souls 1. Anyone else cut off tail of the helkite drake on your first playthrough of DS1 by shooting it with a bow from underneath the bridge? Ah the good ol days when noone I knew irl actually played Dark Souls but me.
#24 Onze's sword has a follow up like rain attack when you hit R2 at the end of the combo, try it out when you aren't fighting as you get knocked out of it easily. I can't consistently do it, but I've done it many times just messing around with it trying out the AoW.
They actually just copy pasted whole bunch of AoW, gavd minimal weapons of the new types and made just mid incantations. Damn fromsoft, a little disappointing
Fan shot is supposedly bugged. Apparently it just deals the full damage of all arrows combined instead of set damage per arrow hit (so regardless of if you hit 1, 3 or 5 It still deals full damage) Seriously hope they don't fix that so bows can be viable but when was the last time they left a bug in because it's a fun bug?
Claws Of Night has to be my favorite with Scattershot Throw. This skill seems to act a bit differently than the regular one with Throwing Dagger. More range, more status effect, better tracking. The point blank shot deals a huge amount of damages and can proc bleed on the first use, second for Steven for instance. With this claw range on basic attack, the good overall damages, it is a monster of a weapon. The R2s are a bit lacking but it would have been the best weapon in the game hands down with some Raptors Talons R2s ! I pair them with some Cold Raptor Talons or Cold Backhand Blades just because of the initial C scaling in Intelligence (15 Int requirement too) before the bug fix. Still having very good results up to this day.
Just further proof that everyone saying the DLC is 10/10 is wrong. It’s a solid 6, maybe a 7 simply because 90% of the reward content is reused/reskinned AND trash on top of that. Such a shame too, so much of this content is promising and they just dropped the ball tremendously. If they update some of this stuff it’ll be a solid 8 or 9/10, until then, it’s an alright DLC.
My man, most of the rewards might not be OP but 95% of them are usable and can get you through the game no problem, just use whats fun/cool not everything needs to be broken the only valid point I agree with is reskins, they do that a lot that's a fact, but lets not act like only 10 weapons in the DLC are usable
There's enough fun stuff honestly but just like the base game at launch most are either weak, unpractical or too strong The re skins sometimes are cool and sometimes boring just like base game stuff that was copied from DS3

The skill on the dragonhunter Katana also has an effect similar to destined death on dragons (Or atleast on the ghostflame dragon in the cerulean coast)
Seems like it could be fun to combine the flowerstone gavel with the blinkbolt weapons. Proc the lightning damage debuff with the gavel skill and then switch to the twinaxe or longhaft axe and go to town, or if you want to stay at range just use knight lightning spear.

Just a note that Thiollier’s Hidden Needle can indeed proc its bonus damage off of the sleep stagger animation, it’s just impossible to do so if the animation was triggered by the skill itself. If you use the weapons passive sleep buildup first or a sleep pot, you can one-shot players if you have the Trina’s smile talisman
The wind effect in the bear claws also makes you unable to stop guarding while being hit by it so against some shield types of build in pvp it’s pretty useful

Yeah the Greatsword of Solitude weapon skill should be higher on this list. That combo is nice because that lung is useful. It isn't a boss killer but you don't fight bosses most times.
honestly the worst part about the dlc is how atrociously scaling was handled. a majority of weapon scalings make no sense and just result with base game weapons that get better scaling vastly outperforming dlc skills and weapons. another huge issue is when weapon skills scale with different stats than the weapon itself, making it really awkward to build around. too many questionable decisions were made.
I'm surprised I haven't seen much about the Unending Dance skill. I used it for most of my DLC play through and melted bosses. Glad to see it getting recognition.
Crazy thing about “best” weapon is it’s all bs lol I was struggling hard with bayle, he was smoking me. I was going back and forth between my 2 “best” builds, you tuber builds…I decided to try something I hadn’t used in well over a year, the long envoy bubble blaster with the envoy helmet and changed up some talismans. Beat him in 2 tries…ffs Only summon was Igon for the quest. Best weapon is whatever gets the job done. Use variety and stop listening to you tubers. Videos like this are great. It’s more like a showcase. I appreciate this style of content 👍

These videos are informative and have a lot of objective information. But most of the lists or ranking videos are subjective in a lot of ways.
Anyway, I vote commander asshole and his hippo. I finally beat him last night. But that fight was rediculous. I had to bring in mimic and use bleed on a spear with a great shield and stamina tear and just keep my shield up

The Greatsword of Solitude’s skill vaccum slice reminds me of the Drake sword’s ranged attack from Dark Souls 1. Anyone else cut off tail of the helkite drake on your first playthrough of DS1 by shooting it with a bow from underneath the bridge? Ah the good ol days when noone I knew irl actually played Dark Souls but me.
Good times, i used the claymore for my first playthrough, i was told the drake sword fell off back then so i just avoided it
#24 Onze's sword has a follow up like rain attack when you hit R2 at the end of the combo, try it out when you aren't fighting as you get knocked out of it easily. I can't consistently do it, but I've done it many times just messing around with it trying out the AoW.

Fan shot is supposedly bugged.
Apparently it just deals the full damage of all arrows combined instead of set damage per arrow hit (so regardless of if you hit 1, 3 or 5 It still deals full damage)
Seriously hope they don't fix that so bows can be viable but when was the last time they left a bug in because it's a fun bug?

Claws Of Night has to be my favorite with Scattershot Throw.
This skill seems to act a bit differently than the regular one with Throwing Dagger.
More range, more status effect, better tracking.
The point blank shot deals a huge amount of damages and can proc bleed on the first use, second for Steven for instance.
With this claw range on basic attack, the good overall damages, it is a monster of a weapon.
The R2s are a bit lacking but it would have been the best weapon in the game hands down with some Raptors Talons R2s !
I pair them with some Cold Raptor Talons or Cold Backhand Blades just because of the initial C scaling in Intelligence (15 Int requirement too) before the bug fix. Still having very good results up to this day.
Just further proof that everyone saying the DLC is 10/10 is wrong. It’s a solid 6, maybe a 7 simply because 90% of the reward content is reused/reskinned AND trash on top of that. Such a shame too, so much of this content is promising and they just dropped the ball tremendously. If they update some of this stuff it’ll be a solid 8 or 9/10, until then, it’s an alright DLC.
My man, most of the rewards might not be OP but 95% of them are usable and can get you through the game no problem, just use whats fun/cool not everything needs to be broken
the only valid point I agree with is reskins, they do that a lot that's a fact, but lets not act like only 10 weapons in the DLC are usable
There's enough fun stuff honestly but just like the base game at launch most are either weak, unpractical or too strong
The re skins sometimes are cool and sometimes boring just like base game stuff that was copied from DS3

I wouldn't say 10/10 but a 8/10 is pretty fair score, it's fun in the first playthrough but I quickly noticed how barebone the DLC is

The skill on the dragonhunter Katana also has an effect similar to destined death on dragons (Or atleast on the ghostflame dragon in the cerulean coast)
Seems like it could be fun to combine the flowerstone gavel with the blinkbolt weapons. Proc the lightning damage debuff with the gavel skill and then switch to the twinaxe or longhaft axe and go to town, or if you want to stay at range just use knight lightning spear.

I agree with bloody helice beeing superior to Obsidian lamina yet i think the moveset of the reaper atleast has some variety to it and is more fun

Just a note that Thiollier’s Hidden Needle can indeed proc its bonus damage off of the sleep stagger animation, it’s just impossible to do so if the animation was triggered by the skill itself. If you use the weapons passive sleep buildup first or a sleep pot, you can one-shot players if you have the Trina’s smile talisman
I just need to know if Euporia’s skill works with the Rotten Winged Insignia, because if so, that could be crazy.
The wind effect in the bear claws also makes you unable to stop guarding while being hit by it so against some shield types of build in pvp it’s pretty useful

The best thing about both of the blinkbolt axes is that they scale with faith. Finally some lightning weapons that dont scale 100% dex 😭

Yeah the Greatsword of Solitude weapon skill should be higher on this list. That combo is nice because that lung is useful. It isn't a boss killer but you don't fight bosses most times.
Normally I don't like when videos like that are so long but when you do them time is just flying

honestly the worst part about the dlc is how atrociously scaling was handled. a majority of weapon scalings make no sense and just result with base game weapons that get better scaling vastly outperforming dlc skills and weapons. another huge issue is when weapon skills scale with different stats than the weapon itself, making it really awkward to build around. too many questionable decisions were made.
I'm surprised I haven't seen much about the Unending Dance skill. I used it for most of my DLC play through and melted bosses. Glad to see it getting recognition.

I was struggling hard with bayle, he was smoking me. I was going back and forth between my 2 “best” builds, you tuber builds…I decided to try something I hadn’t used in well over a year, the long envoy bubble blaster with the envoy helmet and changed up some talismans.
Beat him in 2 tries…ffs
Only summon was Igon for the quest.
Best weapon is whatever gets the job done. Use variety and stop listening to you tubers.
