Are you still reading this?! If so, type "Bustin' makes me feel good!!" in the comments below!! - Krátké a kreslené filmy
I met Ernie Hudson at a con this past April. Super nice guy. I talked to him a little bit. I had him sign my bluray of Ghostbusters and told him I had to have him sign it because they don't have his name or image on the front or back. He response was "Psh, yeah, tell me about it". He signed over the middle of the ghostbusters logo and wrote "Keep on bustin" on it for me.
Nice.
***** He signed the paper insert of the cover, not the plastic cover of the bluray.
***** As I originally said, I met Ernie at a con. I was planning to meet him ahead of time because he was scheduled to be at the con.
Bustin' makes me feel good.
Back in the 80s, HBO used to have a tradition where at midnight on Christmas eve, they would show an unannounced movie that wasn't due to come to cable for at least another month or two. One year, it was Ghostbusters. I remember waiting up after my parents had gone to bed, thinking it would probably be some boring drama and being very pleasantly surprised when Ghostbusters came on. :)
lurkerrekrul That sneak preview of Ghostbusters on HBO is one of the reasons I became obsessed with recording the cartoon series... the moment I saw the opening shot with the lion statue, I knew it was GB, and it was sheer agony because I'd already sneaked and looked at my presents, and knew that I would be receiving a brand-new device called a VCR the next morning.
Willie Pack I don't think we had a VCR at the time.
+Willie Pack I did record it :)
I don't know who you are, but I wish I was your brother at the time.
I remember that! It was the coolest thing to watch Ghostbusters on my TV! My brother, sister, and I were so surprised!
"Like a printout of Wikipedia where you have to be quiet." BRILLIANT!
QUIET!! THIS IS A LIBARY!!!!

I watched Ghostbusteeeers full moviе here twitter.com/09d7587907c8075af/status/791862210888802308 Hоnest Trailеeeers Ghostbustеrs
Both Ivan Reitman and Harold Ramis have insisted, many times, that this isn't a kid's movie. It's a "movie for adults that kids can watch".
Just like Star Wars!
True. Ghostbusters was my childhood. Growing up in the 80s was great, but if you asked me back then to choose one aspect of entertainment, I would have chosen Ghostbusters. The movies, the cartoon, the toys. As I get older, I realize just how wonderfully dark and funny it is. There really has never, or will ever, be another movie quite like this one. It doesn't insult the viewer by spelling every little thing out, and the humor is insanely subtle. The orchestral score is better and more fitting than any soundtrack out there, even Star Wars.
I don't think it'd be PG by today's standards.
@@ChantelCarter-cc7cu Yeah, Ghostbusters beat PG-13 by less than a month (June 8 release to July 1 introduction).
You took the words out of my hands!
Dan Aykroyd was insane back then as well. His obsession with the supernatural is the reason this movie exists. So it's good he's insane... and he's a great guy...
RIP Egon. He's collecting spores in heaven now.
I think he said that to Janine because she was trying to hit on him, and it was his way of blowing her off.
In Ernie Hudson's defense, he played the role perfectly.
And I know... there’ll be no more........ spores in heaven.
May his ghost rest in peace.
Spores, molds and fungus in Heaven now.
I lost it at "Egon, but never forgotten"
I so hope that's on his gravestone
To his credit, Not Eddie Murphy - aka Ernie Hudson - does get the last line of the movie...
I LOVE THIS TOWN, HA HA HA!
He also had many funny and quotable lines. Winston is a good character, and Hudson did good work playing the character.
@@meganick4382 Agreed. His being the only sane man among the group really stood out. It worked because he was just a regular guy. I could see Murphy getting a bit manic, where Hudson's, "I'm just here for the paycheck" attitude fit the bill. It's actually one of my criticisms of the trailer for the remake/reboot/whatever. They went with the "loud black woman" stereotype. Sometimes, the straight man gets the funniest parts, because it's his reactions that make the comedy.
@@carlrood4457 so you never went past the trailer until today? Wow.
He's probably the most down to earth character in the movie.
I think it was best that Eddie Murphy was not in the movie. Don't get me wrong, I love Eddie but he would have been too much for this movie. Having Axel Foley constantly rolling his eyes at the stupid science babel would have been a distraction. Now, if they had found a role for Eddie in GhostBusters II, it may have saved it from being a total disaster!
"Kids, this was called a library. It's like a printout of Wikipedia where you have to be quiet." LOL I'm using this. (^.^)
no
I hate how everybody pretends like kids don't know what a book/ library is.... technology has only just started taking over the reading in school in the last 2 years and most schools make you read from books.... maybe in another 20 years that I wouldn't care so much because then there is actually a chance that those kids have never read an actual book.. but seriously it annoys me so much
whiteout0111 I think you're missing the humor of the statement. It probably will happen; by your own admission; that technology will supplant the printed page. But there are a lot of kids that don't even know what a VHS tape or CD is, or what a video rental store was for. I mean, it's more a joke of how quickly or strangely things have changed due to technology then a joke at modern youth. Plus a lot of kids don't read. (^.^)
Whiteout... It was a joke
whiteout0111 you have no sense of humor.
Swearing, smoking and sexual assault......all the good stuff an 80s PG movie was all about. A perfect 21st century family movie.
Funny how it's the same rating as the snowman XD
Lorand Deka løl
Lorand Deka As opposed to the new one which has swearing, a queef joke and causal genital mutilation being more family friendly? ;p
20th Century...
Don’t forget all of Venkman’s activities, such as trying to get in the pants of the female volunteer.
As Nostalgia Critic put it, this was back when PG actually meant something, but now PG means "Practically G".
R is PG-13 and PG-13 is PG in today's ratings.
@@doctorcrow4956 i think you're confusing reverse evolving with time travel
@@ChantelCarter-cc7cu This movie came out one month after Temple of Doom. I don't know how long it took the MPAA to create the PG-13 rating.
@@Eternaldarkness3166 PG-13 is definitely PG nowadays. I don't think it's accurate to say R is PG-13.
@@ChantelCarter-cc7cu PG has the same practical purpose that G has now. G is the rating that is utterly useless at this point. But the names of the ratings made more sense when they were G, PG and R. We now have useless unused rating, PG, PG-13 and R to serve the same functions. The invention of PG-13 ended up being a complete waste of time. There was never anything wrong with "all audiences," "parental guidance recommended" and "no one under 17 without a guardian." I think this is all because of the heart-ripping scene in Temple of Doom. They should have just said, from now on, heart-rippings are an R rating. Spielberg could've toned it down if he wanted a PG.
Those ghosts oozed so hard they inadvertently created the Ninja Turtles. Now there's a franchise crossover I'd like to see.
So you're telling me that the ghosts' "ooze" gave birth to the turtles? How did that happen? :D
Allow me to blow your mind, good sir. Ghostbusters is a film set in New York City in 1984. First appearance of Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles comic? 1984, also set in New York City. It is entirely possible ghosts' ooze trickled down from the pavement, toilets etc into the sewer system and according to the cartoon some kid dropped his turtles into the sewer mixing with the ooze to create the Ninja Turtles. Also, the second TMNT film is called "The Secret of The Ooze". That's where the filmmakers missed the shot to combine the ectoplasm residue with our favourite turtles. We could have had - nay, we still can have! - the Ninja Turtles joining forces with the Ghostbusters. The Ghostbusters do the brainy work and the Ninja Turtles do the ass kicking. You're welcome, Hollywood, now send me a big fat check for the idea.

Thanks for the tip! It's like the old saying "if you can think about it, it's probably already on the internet". I heard it's how erotic fan fiction was born.
Stefan B. Erotic fan fiction has been around long before the internet. One of the first known slash fics was written in 1974.
Kimi FW
I would argue that it's been around for even longer than that. The first fan fiction boom started when Sir Arthur Conan Doyle killed Sherlock Holmes. He wanted to retire the character. But the fans gave a big middle finger to Doyle and wrote several stories (I think there should be an anthology of these published out there), forcing Doyle many years later to resurrect Holmes. The first instance of an artist giving in to the pressure of self-entitled fans (the second being Meatloaf releasing "Bat Out of Hell 2"). So I can just imagine some of that fan fiction with Holmes must have been erotic as well. After all, this was Victorian times when doctors prescribed dildos to women whom they believed suffered from "hysteria" and for men, a nifty butt-plug connected to a power source to stimulate the prostate with heat and improve the health of men. Ages 13 and up, if I remember correctly.
Hey, in Vankman's defense, the god possessing her pretty much offered to sleep with him, but he politely declined, and stated his discomfort about sleeping with possessed people
Still, why did he bring a syringe of Thorazine with him on a date?
McSuperfly101 jeeeez that was a blowout for me
McSuperfly101 Dana was kinky as fuck.
+McSuperfly101 Hopefully in case of ghosts
And even then, the events of the movie itself are broad strokes canon in The Real Ghostbusters+Extreme Ghostbusters universe, amusingly enough, since Peter Venkman there does appear to be single, and him getting a romantic partner in the film (which is also an actual film in-universe; go watch the RGB Season 1 episode "Take Two", and be ready to laugh) appears to be artistic license on the filmmakers' part.
"Except that GHOSTS EXIST AND ARE HAUNTING NEW YORK!" I died there.
"I collect mold, spores and fungus." Egon was always a man after my own heart.
Still got my crush on Egon, and I'm mostly a lesbian.
Ok first of all:
I can't believe I've never seen this Honest Trailer for my favorite movie growing up
Second, "Egon but not forgotten" was brilliant, and honestly touching
Lastly, whoever requested "fuzzy pickles" is awesome, I love you, and please know that if you ever go back in time to fight an intangible alien threat, I will pray for you.
im a 2000s kid and this was one of the very few live action movies i enjoyed as a kid, and still love to this day
Same here. I'd even say Ghostbusters is the greatest movie ever made.
*****
I'm a 90's kid, and I grew up obsessed with Ghostbuster and Ninja Turtles, both the movies and the cartoons.
I'm 41 years old, saw the movie at age 11 for the first time. Today is Halloween, 2014 and I am wearing a Venkman uniform with a homemade backpack and laser gun at work. The movie is 30 years old and people still love it.
Well, I'm a late 90's kid, and just got the best Christmas gift ever. Ghostbusters 1&2 boxed set!
Yesaiah Ouzounian Me too! i just wished it came with a ghostbusters 3 trailer
The explanation of what a library is was my favorite part. Priceless!
2:27 I think Egon was the only ghostbuster who DIDN'T smoke in the first film.
Which makes you wonder why is it Harold Ramis has now passed on while the other three main actors are currently still alive.
+peter krug second hand smoke kills man!
peter krug Harold passed away from a vein disease called vasculitis. Nothing to do without smoking...
Hey look, it's an amazing Ghostbusters trailer. They're hard to come by these days. ;)
+Clint Dlowrev Too much truth.
+Clint Dlowrev I see what you did there.
Lol
Savage
Actually if you look back at the original Ghostbusters trailer from the 80's its pretty bad. They give away the entire movie.
Oh man, that was so awesome. Very well-done. Hard to believe it's been 30 years.
Back to the Future Honest Trailer!
That would be awesome
"Kids, this is called a library. It's like a print out of Wikipedia where you have to be quiet." XDDD
I am soooo glad that Eddie Murphy wasn't casted as Winston!
+Banter Board Yeah, I liked Ernie Hudson's Winston. He got some great lines. "Ray, if someone asks you if you're a god, you say, 'YES'!"
It certainly would have changed the movie.
Honestly, if he was, they would've done a Ghostbusters 3 instead of the female reboot. Because even if Murray didn't want to do it, they would've calculated that Eddie coming back to the franchise would've made it bankable enough.
So was Eddie Murphy. 😉
If you could do the other four star wars movie that'd be great.
The dad from Family Matters made me think of Die Hard. How can there not be an Honest Trailer for that?
Do Die hard!
poor Winston, didn't even get menchoned in the trailer
It's sadly fitting, though. Winston was hardly utilized often in the first movie and had less screen time than any of the other characters. Some occasional one-liners and a few conversations, but not much else.
He was just...kinda there.
The sequel at least gave him more of a presence.
+Lian Vesdan That's true, and he was a backup for Eddie Murphie.
Yea he did
Yes, sadly. And a lot of the scenes they showed he wasn't even in or only stalking around in the background. Holy crap he really got written out.
If it makes you feel better, his character was pretty cool in the cartoon.
David Bowie! I lost it at this point. I'm a huge DB fan and I always thought that chick looked like him in this movie. Well done, sir ;)
"Not Eddie Murphy"😂 poor Ernie Hudson
Everything considered; budget, time frame, money to spend on everything/FX, still one of the best films ever made and ever will be made... Harold ramis and Dan Aykroyd wrote genius dialogue that would never be accepted in today's overproduced short attention span market... a pure masterpiece.
Kids, this is a library. Like a printout of Wikipedia, but proofread and written by experts subject to publishing laws.
Wikipedia is better than Encyclopedia Britannica was.
And I remember books in libraries that were not so accurate.
Publishing laws don’t mandate quality. Capitalism does.

Ha ha ha!
I concur, this needs to be saided.
Winston had some good lines and, I feel that Ernie Hudson was a great fit for the character. I always felt he should've had more screen time.
Eddie Murphy surely would've added some good 80's comic relief but, I don't know that his brand of humor would've mixed well with the tone of the movie.
Though not played by Ernie Hudson (he's played by Arsenio Hall at most), there's the Winston of The Real Ghostbusters+Extreme Ghostbusters. Hope that'll satisfy.
"Kids movies were way better back in the day"
Damn right they were :)
Saw this in the theatre with my parents when I was in kindergarten.
Now everyone my age won't let their kids see anything. C'mon guys... We had the best movies as kids. Don't deprive them!
Same
I grew up in the 80's/ 90's and when i think back to my childhood - my God the movies i saw w/ my parents!
im 52. i made my kid watch the warriors with me last weekend.
All these years later and its still one of my favorite movies ever.

This was one of my favorite movies growing up!
Both this and Spaceballs were rated PG (Spaceballs even had the word "fuck" in it). Also, both of them had Rick Moranis in them. I think that was his power. He had the ability to make the MPAA look the other way, and when he left show business, his spell lost its power. Now the MPAA is insane.
We miss you Rick Moranis. Like a gay guy with satyromania, we need Moranis.
Spaceballs is PG? Now I'm going to get my school to show it!
No, it's when they're trying to stop the self-destruct sequence towards the end.
SPACEBALLS was rated 'PG'? It came out in like '87 - well after the creation of the PG-13 rating. No idea how that happened!
Amelia Doubleyou I told you. That's the power of Rick Moranis. You just see that face and you think, "Oh, shucks! We'll let it slide!"
Well, how come that didn't work with *my* favorite 80s movie, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, which still managed to get stuck with a PG-13? I'm crying foul of that one :P
the 'starring' part at the end was great! :D

bearlyrandom how its definatley not PG by todays standards but its still awesome
Great storytelling doesn't get old. Enjoy it all with your friend, no matter when it was made!
I was told this would've picked apart the logic of the movie, but it simply explains what I have already known, even down to the cameo of the Dad from Family Matters. Plus I do not believe it was targetted to kids, it was suppose to be a pure comedy with college professors trying to capture ghosts, just another 80's comedy but ended up being the badass sensation everyone fell in love with. These guys did their best with the honest trailer and I of course laughed my ass off.

As a child of the early 90's (I was 5 in 1990), I can confirm that The Real Ghostbusters was very much still a thing that was on TV. I watched it religiously and had a ton of the Kenner toys, which were still in the shops.
Real Ghostbusters was ending in '90. Course you are too young to know that there was actually two very, very different Ghostbusters cartoons on in the 80's, both of which were based on prior live action works.

um? who said this is a kids movie?
It's rated PG-13 and was marketed towards kids with the cartoons, action figures, and video games. This was a kids movie in the 80's.
no all that shit came after the fact. I'm a child of the 80's, I know. The movie itself was just a movie and not geared toward kids. This was written by Dan Aykroyd, not a kids movie.
btw G rating is for kids and MAYBE PG, not PG-13. What world do you live in?

13 year olds are kids...
no shit but PG-13 doesn't =kid friendly. I've seen nudity in PG-13! think that's for kids? You're simplifying this way too much. Does this mean all movie that are PG-13 are for kids? Really? c'mon
at 00:45 "Yup this is what movie stars looked like..." I think it's what made many movies (not just the 80s) better. Using older actors, not slick hot looking actors. Older actors just look more realistic, and their life experience helps them to portray a more realistic (and sometimes funnier) character. The Return Of The Living Dead comes to mind, the two old men in that were hilarious.
