  • "Hackney Diamonds" is the Rolling Stones' first album of original music in 18 years - and their first since the death, in 2021, of drummer Charlie Watts. Correspondent Anthony Mason sat down with Keith Richards, Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood to discuss their unique chemistry; reuniting with the Stones' original bassist Bill Wyman; and what turning 80 means to Jagger and Richards.

Think about this. Their last tour last year and upcoming tour, someone will bring their kid (even at their ticket prices) There were probably a bunch of kids say 13 years old. 13 years old in 2022, if they live until 85, that means someone could still be on the earth in 2094 that has seen the stones, a band that started in 1962, 132 years ago (if thinking 2094)

“It’s bigger than all of us, damn thing.” Most people strive for retirement. Others strive for retirement but remember feeling 19. The Stones are successfully retired old men but choose to perform like young 19 year olds, which is inspiring. Old age does not nullify everyone’s inner 19 year old selves. If you are capable striving to express your inner youthfulness, no matter what age, in a responsible mature manner, like the Stones, and enjoy your life for as long as possible, God bless you. Rock on Rolling Stones.

My heroes. Next year will God willing mark thirty years of me seeing them in concert (done at least twenty shows - mom first saw them in 66!). While Paul and Ringo singly keep the Beatles legacy alive, the Stones are a testament to keeping an actual band together through in-fighting, management rip-offs, member deaths, drug persecution (the Beatles were celebrated for LSD use while the Stones went on trial), going in and out of fashion, etc. 'Old Gods Almost Dead' and 'Brian Jones and The Making of The Stones' are two key books to understanding their history (every band that doesn't wear matching suits and sing happy pop songs owes them their existence). Please introduce your children and grandchildren to their great roots and deep catalogue so that Disney Jr.-level Taylor Swift doesn't become the cultural foundation of the planet. Will miss Charlie always. Congrats on finally releasing a new album. KEEP ROLLING, STONES!!

The Rolling Stones are something of a touchstone for all the aging Baby Boomers out there. (which includes me) They've been around for almost our entire lives, and remind us of the things that we've lost or gained along the way.. (deaths, births, marriages, etc). My father died the day the Stones did "Beast of Burden" on Saturday Night Live in 1978. My mother, who died a couple of years ago, didn't really like Rock and Roll, but she thought the song "You can't always get what you want" was very insightful. When I turned 16, and was allowed to drive by myself for the 1st time, the first song I heard when I turned on the car radio was "It's only Rock and Roll." I was at the show on July 4, 1975 in the Liberty Bowl stadium in Memphis. where a drug dealer I knew convinced Keith to go with him by car to Dallas the next day. They got stopped at a small town in Arkansas, and yet amazingly turned loose when the local authorities couldn't find the massive variety and amount of drugs in the car. At my wedding in 1981, the bands' 1st song was "Start me up"

I watched The Rolling Stones when they first appeared on The Ed Sullivan show in the early 1960’s,they were an instant hit.after 6 decades of success I believe they have surpassed The Beatles in terms of being labeled “The Greatest Rock n Roll band”.It’s hard to believe Mick Jagger can still sing at 80 yrs old.just a truly amazing group of musicians.I’m shocked Keith,Ron Wood still have their “marbles”

You know in sports, they like to talk about "heart" a lot. In the business of rock - a business as it is - not very many big stars has as much heart in it as The Stones, they remain to show how far one can take it into the human age boundaries with still being creative. I still respect them, tipping my hat.

Every Rolling Stones album I've ever had the pleasure of purchasing was good and it gets better as it grows on you.
I can't wait to buy this new album and take it home and live with it for a while.
Thank you so much for doing another album. Good rock and roll is such a wonderful thing.
Thank you so much for enriching my life.
    Take care and be well.

Ronnie is a great artist!? Who knew?? I was 15 back in 65. THere was a STones bio that came out after Satisfaction. Soret of looking back, the struggle. I had a little band. We were Decembers Children. Ha. My father was rtiring from the Army at Ft Bennng. I had to leave my band and my girlfriend.(Would meet her later in 2007, who knew?) Anyway I I was in the back of our 63 Mercedes, reading that book and devouring every word. Wanting to be just like them. I got to Va and I was asked to play i a local band. Battle of the Bands, State Champ. I just knew I was gonna be famous. It never happened. But Im still laying, for myself. Married the girlfriend, 50 yrs later. One day at a time my friends.Im 73 in December. Doc says my Heart is on borrowed time. I feel great!

In 1998 (I was almost 40 years old) we were cruising the streets by Dortmund in Germany - somebody on the radio said there is a Stones concert in a stadium close by (forgot the city name). We drove there there, got tickets (didn't care the cost) and boy, it was great! The best concert I have ever been to - and I have been to many. Wish I had gone to the last one. Grew up with the Stones. The energy is out of this world. Love, love!
