- Welcome to my breakdown of the TRANSFORMERS ONE Official Trailer. In this video I will explaining the backstory of Optimus Prime (Orion Pax) and Megatron (D-16) spectulating how their friendship will inevitably end in the upcoming movie. As well taking a deep dive into the lore and history of CYBERTRON. TF One takes inspiration from Generation 1, and the Aligned Contunity, how Sentinel Prime is both a puppet to his Quintesson masters and also quite possibly a jerk like in Transformers Animated.
TRANSFORMERS ONE PLOT SYNOPSIS:
This is the origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, better known as sworn enemies, but once were friends bonded like brothers who changed the fate of Cybertron forever. In the first-ever fully CG-animated Transformers movie, TRANSFORMERS ONE features a star-studded voice cast, including Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi with Laurence Fishburne and Jon Hamm.

I think it’s nice that D-16’s design is a homage to Meg’s original 80’s comic design
Moreso his original toy design, which his Marvel comics design reflectes
Fun fact: the Marvel Comics design is based on a scrapped design for the cartoon which was also based on a scrapped design for the toy

It’s cool since megatron wasn’t around for the “return to form” designs we started seeing after bumblebee.
Still I think the prime show did a great job marrying the og with the bayverse styles
I actually theorized this happening in that D-16 blasting a hole through Sentinel's chest completes his transformation into Megatron.
I also noticed that after the T-Cogs got their Transform ability, Megatron or D-16 didn’t even showed up in the later trailer could be hiding he will turn.
Fascinating observation, I wonder if they'll get seperated in that transformation scene while he goes off on his own to possibly rally fighters that will become the decepticons
He's around when they're in the jungle at least. However, someone pointed out that the shot of him activating his fusion cannon when they're getting their T-Cogs seems to actually be him becoming Megatron, he's got the red eyes and he's in the same crystal cave we see Pax as Prime land in.
Transformers: ONE already has several unrelated movies and other media that came before it that perfected the 'Brothers splitting' formula. If this movie resembles (weirdly enough), DreamWorks: the Prince of Egypt in plot structure, then it will be great, lol
If it does come to that, it'd be great! There are already so many AMV of The plague depicting Optimus as Moses and Megatron as Ramses.

Thank goodness that it's been confirmed as a separate continuity because Lorenzo di Bonaventura has been going out of his way to insist that the reboot universe IS connected to the Bayverse, someone at Paramount needs to shut his mouth because it's quite irritating to say the least.

Im so glad they said that! This is just too good to be a prequel. There may be elements of the live action but they don't confirm that it is a prequel.
Although I do hope we get to see another movie set in the bumblebee movie universe.

Has anyone mentioned the idea that cybertron is techno organic here ? The ideas from beast machines are coming back to life as the reveal that cybertron is both organic and technological was a major twist then but it’s just shown here.

@@alistairrae9807 Why though? Its not as overly goofy as Cyberverse at least, it just looks like the planet is larger than just cybertronians who were likely forced underground.
If there will be a time of peace before the Autobot Decepticon war its possible they will colonize the surface.
in G1 most animal robots/ beast machines were closely associated with the Quintessons. So they may have imported much of their own tech to spread around Cybertron.
Ultra Magnus still hasn't been in any Transformers movies for 38 years if you don't count TFP: Predacons Rising

@@nealsmall9316 by the way it's going I kinda feel like there's gonna be more of other antagonists than the classical Megatron and Starscream. Since Unicron has already appeared,it would be wierd to have the two back as the main villains again.
"Are you optimus because you're a prime? Or are you a prime because you're optimus?" - Megatron at the end of the movie
A part of me wants this to be the first movie in a trilogy. With this movie ending with them freeing cybertron from the quintessons. With the second movie dealing with injustice of the cast system and their falling out. Finally the third movie playing similarly to the Fall of Cybertron game with the planet near death.
I find it interesting that the trailer seems to be making it that Orion is the rebellious one while D16 is more hesitant to get out of line.
My prediction is the first act will be Orion getting D16to somehow mess up the race (the jetpack scene) that leads to them being sent to waste management where they meet Bee and Elita. The second act will be them going to the surface and finding out that Cybertron's is secretly enslaved by the Quintessons, leading to them seeking out the 13 Primes, and instead getting their cogs from Alpha Trion after finding out the other 12 Primes are dead. Not sure where it goes after that but it's clear they somehow amass an army of Seekers to fight the government and eventually the Quintessons. Also not sure at what point Orion will get the Matrix.
I personally think we won't see Megatron and Optimus fight each other in this film, perhaps the movie starts with them fighting and the rest of the movie is a long flashback? I also suspect we might not see the Autobot symbol at all until near the end of the film.
I think we could see the War for Cybertron around the ending, so they could pull on it a timeskip like "eons later" with a devastated Iacon/Kaon and a massive battlefield and that's when Optimus and Megatron show up and the last shot would be a tribute to the Transformers Prime intro

Given that Sentinal Prime is voiced by Jon Hamm, he played an angel in Good Omens where he basically plays an uncaring bureaucrat, which makes me think that’s how he will act

It's just tragic when a good guy falls from his ways for misunderstandings, I hope at some point in time as we saw in one of the cartoon series Megatron redeems himself again and joins with his old brother Optimus

Im really excited to see how Optimus and Megatron's friendship will fall apart as Ive always wanted to see a show or film depict their falling out and really dive into it. I suspect this movie will be something like X-Men First Class were we see Magneto and Professor X's friendship grow and show why they were good friends but ultimately the different ideologies came to a breaking point. Im interested to see what Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tee Henry will do in the roles and what kind of dynamic they will have. I'm suspecting Sentinel Prime in this movie will be similar to how he was depicted in Transformers: Animated as a egotistical elitist who looked down on the lower class. I do wonder if Sentinel in this film has some kind of agreement with the Quintessons adding to the internal corruption of Cybertron fueling Megatron's hatred for the Elite guard and former government of Cybertron

I think there will be some moments Optimus doesn't want to kill Megatron but after so many bots got destroyed he will be forced to do it just like in TFP Optimus had so many chances but didn't do it until Megatron went to far

I feel like this movie is definetly going to set people's minds on the origins of cybertron.
This movie sure does promise a lot. It's kind of hard to get excited over movies like this after watching something like dominion since it promised so much yet it wasn't executed properly. Im just worried that this movie would meet the same fate. Nevertheless, i like what i've seen so far and i am optomistic about this movie.

I played the Fall of Cybertron game for hundreds of hours as a kid. Lowkey looking forward to this
My take on it:
With the exception made of the Psychopathic Bayverse, in all other continuities Megs and Prime hold both the same ideal to restore Cybertron and the betterment of their species, and it is on that prime directive they found each other as friends, but it was in the means where they differed so much so their friendship could not survive the stress of this polarity, plus Megs had it quite a bit more rough than Prime, who had actually recognized all this, seeing in Megs a respected adversary instead of a hated enemy.
Prime knows, by means of revelation from Vector Sigma, that he and Megs are components in the incarnation of two separate contingency plans that counter interact with each other in order to define the best way for survival of the cybertronian species, and that they are both necessary for a step of this process to be acomplished.
Yet all this drama and effort the cybertronians go through is only one layer in the grand skeme of things, Since Primus himself and Unicron are also two parts of an adversary system that keeps the infinite cycle of universes going, with both existing simultaneously in all alternate versions of it.
Only perpetual robust artificial robotic or cybernetic life could endure the burden of both, carring out the process and also be aware of the inescapable reasons why it is the only way.
This is such a good theory video! Makes me even more excited to see this movie!

I'm wondering where Elita fits in all this. I mean Orion and D-16 are the focus of the movie and we do see them meeting Bumblebee (sorry, B-127 🙄 ) but Elita just seems to be... there.

Elita-1 was trying to return Orion, D and B to Cybertronian government, and she stuck with they on planet surface
I can see D16 saying, "I am Megatron" or something similar at the end.
The movie looks like Guardians of the Galaxy but with a Transformers skin.

It would make sense that due to Sentinel's corrupted goverment led Megatron holding a grudge towards it. Optimus believes that peace is the only way but Megatron doubts it due to his experience with the previous goverment where "peace" was enslaving low-clsss people to work as he was one of them so they'll fight one another for their own ideology

I don't know how he becomes evil in this movie, but they could take cues from other shows and comics! The most common way he becomes evil is that overtime, his power and status corrupts him and his ideals, and he becomes the very thing he hated in the first place. @@nealsmall9316

Not sure if anyone noticed yet, but 0:13 is a remake of a shot of megatron from the first episode of transformers: prime. This also ties in with your theory that a lot of this is inspired by the aligned continuity.

I think the best origin for Optimus and Megatron would combine elements from all previous origins. It's better if it's not one incident that splits them apart, but the culmination of smaller events and choices that have built up resentment over time. Then Megatron has to do something unjustified and unforgivable so we don't get people being like "Megatron was right, Optimus is wrong!" Like everyone's been saying recently about Magneto.
3:12 - WHAT. Literally the only things I remember from Animated are the short where the kids ask Optimus questions including where his trailer goes, and Jazz's sacrifice. That's it. I DID NOT REMEMBER THAT ELITA ONE BECOMES BLACKARACHNIA.
The trailer gives off the silly goofy feel but it’s just the first trailer and knowing they become enemies as part of the transformers cannon I’d say it’s safe to say we’ll see that flipped on its head I feel we’ve seen maybe the 1/3 act of the film before the climax leading to the start of the transformers we know

I wonder if it will be anything like IDW, where the Matrix is lost and when Orion and Megatron turn on eachother, Orion is attacked and left for dead by his former friend, where he discover's the Matrix, with the scene from the traile rbeing his triumphant return as Optimus Prime.
Is this going to be a trilogy or is everything going to unfold in this singular movie? I thought it would be cool if it was like the star wars prequels where it starts with potentially revolting against the quentesons, have the next one be about potential decepticon backlash and have a small revolt or an entirely different faction, then have the final one be the war where Megatron and Optimus prime’s friendship fully shatters and the two are engaged in a fight to the death.
Heard something about a trilogy only if Transformers One does a banging job at the box office...

@@Superman12345414 Be interesting if they are going the direction like Star Wars where they made the clone wars animated to explain the events between attack of the clones and revenge of the Sith. To me it wouldn't make sense to make another continuity when earth spark and the bumblebee universe are a thing right now, and bay verse is dead so I don't know why they would make this a prequel to that. Now if it is a completely different universe then we can get a potential animated war for CyberTron movie or series

I had a thought when thinking deeply about the Aligned continuity that could be integrated in the plot;
Hear me out, one of Optimus famous line is "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings" what if the quote was given to him by his friend Megatron. I mean Megatron praised to break down the caste system to make all cybertronians equal among each other. It could be quite a terrible twist to realize the words that Optimus preaches was the same message his old friend told him when they were still on good terms.
Now, granted I had this thought come to me one day, and probably others thought the same thing. I wonder if they could possible work something like that to make the breaking of their friendship that much more tragic.

Do you think that Transformers One might be similar to X-Men: First Class in a way? I mean, compare the trailers. With that in mind, and given Hasbro’s history of creating entirely new continuities… We might gain an equivalent to X-Men: Days of Future Past. And maybe techorganics(hybrids) based on those Kaiju-Jaeger hybrids(specifically the drones by Shao Industries) from Pacific Rim: Uprising. They sort of interest me.

Tfp still has the best telling of the history of optimus and megatron's falling out and the following war
I think that d-16 will always have looked up to megatronus and have the emblem imprinted on his shoulder due to him bieng a big fan before he comes face to face with his corpse. After receiving the ability to transform he will take on his name to honor his legacy but will only become megatron at the very end of the film.
So. So. So. What will be the continuity of the new reboot of transformers movies would be? Is it with already dead Sentinel Prime or nah?
I have a theory, when Orion and D16 defeat Sentinel, Sentinel wants to accept death, but Orion spared him knowing he and D16 are better than him, but D16 didn’t take it well as he kills Sentinel in an extremely excruciating manner because of his crimes, leading the two becoming from brothers to rivals, Orion Pax and D16 to Optimus Prime and Megatron

For the original G1 storyline that seems kind of weak but has potential
Towards the end of your video where u mention the Transformers Prime show, I'm not sure the reason Orion Pax was "Chosen" to be the next Prime was all true. I recall that there was a book previously mentioned there was bad Decepticon discrimination and in the Prime show Megatron did have a Cause. Bots like Ratchet who had their own version of what drove the friendship apart...that he was just power hungry, jealous, and just a bad apple.
Most shows after G1 would have Decepticons be ostracized and treated badly whereas Autobots live their lives like ignorant, privileged citizens. An example, like Netflix's War for Cybertron where this Ratchet opens up the Autobots' perceptions about the price of war came to. Their fight is destroying their Cybertronian race and planet.
People aren't just born evil, life isn't Black & white/ Good vs. Evil. Meg didn't like create the problem, but a system or a result of a character who had enough with the ways thing were. Wants change for bots like him. Unfortunately, we know he'll go down the wrong path to do so. There were a few Autobots like Getaway, Sentinel Prime, and Nightra that turn out to be one of a few bad apples.
I could be misremembering from Transformers Prime flashback ( Reason behind Meg turning Evil). But I hope that if Transforms One movie continues on with more movies. They would dive deeper into A vs. D problem instead of thousands of years still fighting, the dying planet is somehow around during the long war and Autobots or O.P fixing the problem that made the Decepticons wanting to go to War in the first place. and not just continuinf life las it was before then just teaching younger bots that D's r bad cons, can't trust them.
The example I'm thinking of is kinda like how Transformers Cyberverse or Earthspark series did.
Overall, I will always love Transformers. Can't wait for the Transformers One Movie.
The guys they picked for Megatron and Bumblebee have to be the two worst voice actors for those chatracters I've ever heard
