    I am taking the opportunity here to say "Chapeau" to the late George Carlin.
    A dazzling and insightful fellow who knew how to convey, while putting his ideas forth and make you laugh in the process. Mr. Carlin zealously delivered his controversial and spirited presentations without looking at notes which demonstrated a remarkable knowledge of history, cultures, and capability to memorize an enormous amount of information, facts, and stories old and recent. George Carlin was simply "one of a kind" Thanks to the Internet; we can today appreciate and value his work as he brightens up the globe with laughter. George; the world misses you and will never be the same without you!

    Many people weakly belief in and rely on a “faith in god” to get them through the day and then they foolishly attribute both of their successes AND failures to God’s will. To be quite honest, if one observes the “real world” that we live in, one can clearly see that if God actually does exist, then he seems to play favorites. He cares deeply about some and doesn’t give a rat’s ass about other people. For example, religious people like to say that “God is just” to which I think to myself oh fuck here we go again! First of all, if this “God” figure was really just, wouldn’t that include being fair? To me, justice and fairness are two sides of the same coin and certainly if we look at the world around us, we can see that there is a big flaming pile of unjust and unfair bullshit happening every day. For starters, “God” doesn’t let you choose almost all of the factors that largely determine whether or not you will “succeed” or “Fail” in this life. Your place of birth, your parents, your genetic makeup, your socioeconomic status, the school system that you go through, and your upbringing are all out of your control. While some kids are born into wealth, others are born into poverty. Lack of fairness in my eyes means lack of justice which throws the “God is Just” argument out the window.

    16-39 nowadays. Keeping from suiciding due to bestial capitalism grabbing your throat feels rough. If you are trying to remain debt-free when you are young that is. What I do not get is this push for consumerism when the majority of middle/poor classes are being forced into poverty. USA is not the land of plenty when the 1% have all the resources to waste, while rights and needs go to scraps. The hopeless to me are the unpatriotic, who comprise most CEO's of big name companies who put nothing back into USA. To the tax-dodgers who run away to offshore havens. Who are you benefitting? Your ego? To the defense budget whores who think we all want war al the time. Those people have a plan to make everyone depressed sooner or later. Freeze in heaven, burn in hell.

      I don't see what capitalism has to do with America's problems. We aren't actually a purely capitalist country, and in my opinion, we could fix most of our problems simply by transitioning towards a small government, getting rid of all these alphabet soup agencies that serve no vital purpose that exist solely to convince the people they need to pay more tax to fund a bunch of horseshit that won't have any beneficial affect on them whatsoever, more economic freedom, lower taxes, staying out of wars that have nothing to do with ensuring national security, abolishing affirmative action and minority/gender quotas, stamping out any form of an attempt at equality of outcome, far right wing government in regards to economics and a very libertarian social order (so pretty much just libertarianism in a nutshell), close the immigration floodgates, if we can accomplish all that (not gonna happen) America would truly be great again. But there's way too many retards for that.

    • @Laurell_Silentshade
      @Laurell_Silentshade Před 6 lety +1

      He just went full on misanthrope. No stakes in the outcome as he put it in one interview. The problem I find with this is and how it effected his humour is he didn't really care and it reveals either a bit of ignorance on his part and/or any bit compassion. Don't get me wrong, I work in retail. I absolutely understand the tendency to write off the human race and even like the black humour that may come from it... But I still stop short of 'checking out', because the fact is I am human for better or worse and I like Carlin have benefited from the social structure of the human race. Unless I decided to live in seclusion with no technology I don't truly get to check out. And if I claim to check out while still enjoying the convenience and society we've built then I'm just lying to myself. My point is, if your position has gotten to point where you don't care to have any understanding or empathy or compassion with other members then why should they accord you these things?
      See for me a joke falls flat if it reveals a lack of connection or understanding from the speaker. Yeah there's good reason to distrust pharmaceutical companies and the for profit marketing motive, but depression isn't a made up thing along with other mental conditions. These people don't exist in a vacuum. So when a huge demographic of people are casually written off as wastes of space because he doesn't care to understand then I just can't connect with this joke. And I'm even somewhat repulsed by it.
      And you dear reader may contest I missed the point of the narrative of the scenario which is to illustrate how screwed up and callous cable network TV is and by extension the people who watch it... No I haven't. He still uses these groups as examples of people to sacrifice to the pyramid of hopelessness. It comes across to me as people he'd personally write off if he ran things, but it's presented through the veneer of this bit. And it's not like he hadn't done this same premise in a previous routine. Watch the bit he did on the prison free for all pay per view. Maybe he didn't actually think this. It's not really made all that clear if I'm supposed to take it in complete jest. I don't think I am. The routine is smarter than a throwaway reference or gag I'm just supposed to dismiss. Still a great comedian, but I still part ways with him on some things.
