This is my 4th ship in damage, counting LT, and 7th in xp, sometimes i go to the stats just to see this, i use it with a full AP/accuracy build, 15k damage is great plus the reload, its a really fun ship now i find. Heals are nice too.

True, I've never played with a Gascogne, even once, since the ship came out.
Gascogne was actually one of the first, if not the first, GXP ships I ever got. I've always used a secondary build with her, which I will admit isn't ideal. I thought one of the bigger draws to Gascogne was her high fire chance, but maybe it's considered average for French BBs?
The T7 French BB pool is strong. Jean Bart and LA Foudre of course are amazing. Flandre now is really really freakin good. Richelieu has always been strong, and then you have Gascogne and Champagne, which are widely considered the duds. Maybe not because they are so bad, it's just the other French BBs are so good!
Glad to see you've changed your mind about this ship. He is particular and underrated. He is very good contrary to what most say. Personally I use it with everything in precision and I enjoy it, doing 10k in AP in the superstructure is delicious. I see it as a support ship but also as a good challenger in BB duels. On the other hand, having made the comparison with Champagne, it seems to me that Gascogne has a better sigma. That's even what pushed me to buy it. I don't know if wowsbuild made a mistake putting Champagne in 1.80
I always enjoyed the French BB's, despite the wonky accuracy sometimes. I always enjoyed the high speeds and the French magic bullets they fire. I'm very glad that that you've changed your option on ship. I didn't really like the ship that much because it cannot punch through 27MM bows (ex: Baltimore, Hipper, Azuma, Congress, Prinz Eugen, ect). Other then all that I still found the ship very good, I cannot put all my trust on the guns wanting to smash a Broadside target when I want it to because French Depression trolls me hard everyday.
This ship is fun when you get the good matchups, randomly hits crazy hard and the HE will set all of the fires if the RNG works in your favor. A real sleeper imo 😩

I would say she is way better than the Champagne ship, I take her out for a spin more often and can hit Like a Truck not to mention the HE on this ship is crazy good, ggs captain

33 seconds for the 180 turn is not bad. Its not great either. Kedrov might be the way to go. Champagne has 25 sec 180....so its easier to get away with the double accuracy.

Try Kedrov over Iacino to fix the turret problem . Yeah Gascogne is very solid, really good at flanking and harassing ships . Very fluid and enjoyable playstyle

Love Gascogne, people sleep on this ship but it has the highest damage 380 mm AP in the game. it doesn't even make sense lol.. they do more damage than some 406 mm guns including Champagne.

Pretty rare ship. I thought about getting it or Champagne but bought the Friesland instead. Maybe next time. Also got Odin and Kii and they work amazingly for me
Champagne is nasty. Quick cycling heals give it some decent survivability. And those guns are hilarious. Citadeling a Musashi through the main belt at 15km is always fun. It has yamato levels of penetration and a funny button that can get 3 salvos out in 30 seconds. Just have to play at mid to long range. It's also stupidily accurate so those 6 barrel hit consistently. Love that ship.

@DerkaGames 2 funny buttons. Getting 16 guns into heavy cruiser reload times is always a surprise during a drive by. It's not a ship to sleep on.
Dunno why but this thing feels so much more consistent than Repub.
One of my biggest peeves- a ship that out. Turns it's turrets. A no go for me, and I'm not building to compensate. Also small guns.......
It's annoying. Fixed with criss cross, or Kedrov but yeah
And the small gun argument has always been a silly one for me. Bourgogne proves it over and over and over again at LT. 380s are fine
Ya know, I've been dreading, truly dreading the release of this video because I figured Derka would address The Original White Elephant of Battleships....The Gascogne.
A ship that took its lumps in reviews on CZcams several years ago.
A ship that was a bit of a punchline.
A ship ya don't see very much of, a ship few ever speak of. It's that twin sibling carefully locked in the attic for decades.
And I knew something was wrong about the Gascogne's perception the moment the Republique was released.
This was shortly after I sold the Gascogne which I got in a Xmas '21 crate. Had a few good games in it to.
The one consistent complaint was the Gascogne's turret layout.
Isn't that what the Republique has?
And yet it was immediately beloved, adored, cherished and worshiped by the majority of players. Go figure.
Do I regret selling the Gascogne?
Yes and No because I got the Flandre which I was wise enough not to sell despite it's less-than-enthusiastic reviews when it debuted.
I will say this...if I ever reacquire the Gascogne, I will not sell it.
A rebuttal since I both praised Republique and slandered Gascogne...
Context. I believe the only public licks I have given Gascogne were in a GXP Battleship review where that ship were going up against the likes of Massachusetts, Tirpitz, and others. Strong battleships. In that context... I'd still place Gasconge below lots of other GXP BBs.(Massa, Monarch, Flandre) I do have a new appreciation for her though and would likely place her above Roma, Odin, and some others now.
Republique does have the same turret layout, but i think that comparison can be stopped there. Pound for pound Republique is ridiculous at its tier. Very accurate for a French BB (2.0 sigma), massive 431mm guns with essentially the best AP pen in the game, and a 25s reload 😆 broken. It's a T10 Battleship slapped in our T8
U can get any premium ship u have sellers back by just emailing WG. I got over 5 ships back just calling the support. The only trick on it is: they will give it back to u but u gonna have to spend in game credits to buy her back like 10 mi or so
Would like to know what battleships are best for moving around like you are doing with this ship. I don't like playing island hugging ships. Just not my playing style. What nation run and gun battleships
You can play any nations BBs running and gunning, French BBs are really good at it though especially with megalomania. Drop spot faster after shooting. Conqueror and Vanguard also good run and gunners
Georgia, Iowa, amagi, Roma, veneto, Tirpitz, Bismarck…. Again you can play most any Battleship like this

@@DerkaGames btw ive never seen that bad of an accuracy on gascogne b4 as in intro clip, use the accuracy skill in 3rd slot (captain). Its a very accurate ship actually

Im glad you're liking it. I still think it's one of the worst ships in the game. The DPM just isnt good enough and it just cant hit anything consistantly. I ended up putting a secondary/brawler build on it because it does have some nice 152mm secondaries on it.

Not a single time as a base commander. Why would I when I have AL Dunk. However, for anyone without ALD that would be my recommendation
I’ve played a few games with her liked her then I started seeing videos about how bad it is. An it turned me away from playing it more. Plus in my Massachusetts I’ve dev struck a few more of these then any other bb
I suppose the ship gets a bad wrap because there are soo many super strong battleships at T7. But honestly, this thing is quite fun here recently. Just play what's fun for you and ignore all those stupid youtubers 😆
The accuracy is so rough on this ship i prefer the champagne over this . I wish this had champagne accuracy then i would play this over champagne. This ship is definitely nore tanky then champagne tho the othwr issue with champagne is it that it gets over pens alot because of the pen
