Kudos to Yamaha for keeping the big bore (and small bore) 2 strokes alive..now, all they have to do is bring back the Banshee!!!
2 stroke for life!!!!
(& Rz & RD's whataya kiddinme, imagine an r1 style (LE no less) 4cyl fuelie (EFI) 2 stroke liquid cooled, now yer talking.
That would be awesome, but it would’ve happened by now, SXS’s are taking over now, quads aren’t as popular anymore.
🤞 🤞 🤞
@@STILLNIGHTPEARL you need larger riding spots for sxs. I foresee a huge market of used sxs in the future.
GraveyDavey 007 we have all that here in Cali though, especially the desert areas, Baja, it’s all SXS, the scene has changed big time.

Riding a 2 stroke dirt bike is one of the funnest things that I've done in my life.
YZ's are best..always have been imo. Not everyone's cup of tea I know, but have always been great bikes!
Ur profile pic says otherwise.
and name
How does your yz feel about you cheating on her with a kx?
Just because he has a KX doesn't mean can't love other brands, you lunatics...
I think it was the 60s when yamaha made a geometric masterpiece motorcycle. It wrecked BMW's market share. Bmw copied it immediately.
I’ve got a 2010 YZ 250 and I love it, there amazing bikes and so simple
I got a 98 cr250
Nothing like being young fit and having a 2 stroke between your legs.. Now I'm just a old fart with a tired body and just the memoirs of my old yz back in my youth.
Dexter Flight ...I hear ya grandpa...remember back in the day when things were cheap, no rules and regulations, no people in the way, you could go anywhere and do anything and all you needed in life to be happy was a YZ and a full can of fuel.... It was better than sex with Vanessa Lovelace, and she could suck a golf ball through 40ft of hose pipe....better times...
I'm 52 and haven't been on a 2 stroke since I sold my 1989 RM250 back in 1991. I have 2 Harleys now. I'm on the verge of buying another 2 stroke just for the hell of it. It will kill me or not, whatever. Just want to throw my leg over a 2 stroke again.
@@angus42868 do it, i did and it's great!
angus42868 find yourself a good trail bike, a late 90’s KX or CR 250
I'm right there with you. I spend my time on the street now on sport touring bikes. But I do miss being a teenager back on my 1988 YZ125. It used to feel good.
4:55 Bro just drop the clutch while you're still in gear and coming into the corner. Those 2 strokes fire right back up!
Mine has when I just knew it wasn't going to.
Jake Waggoner yea I thought the same lmao
Agree my yamaha fires straight up.
Nor do you need to find neutral to kick start it.
You guys are making too much sense.
But yes just pop the clutch if still rolling in gear, and no need to find neutral to restart it from a standstill when you can just pull the clutch in.
Can't beat that 2-stroke sound
Nything about em is better thsn a 4 banger
I love this Dirtbike motovlog/review channel on track. It’s different and not a whole lot of people do it. Keep it up!
The smell and sounds of a 2stroke are with out a doubt the best feeling. The pull of the powerband kicking in, nothing like it.
Just picked up mine a couple weeks ago 🤘 switched from a kx450, never felt more comfortable on a bike in my life
Ik how u fell...lol
Interesting because I'm struggling to decide between the 19 kx 450 and the yz 250, fancy a 2 stroke again simply because cheaper to maintain, how is the power curve feel on the yz? I used to have a 16 sx 250 and never felt quite right on it.
@@jdc9128 compared to a 450, it dies out at the top a little quicker, but honestly the low end for being a two-stroke is absolutely mind blowing, and the amount of agility I have on the bike compared to the panzer tank of a KX, isn't even comparable
Have to agree, I rode many bikes over the years kx450f, crf450, rm125, cr125 etc etc.
But the kayaba sss suspension package on the newer yamahas is just amazing this thing felt light as a feather underneath me & so comfortable was like I was sitting in front of a heater in Antarctica sitting pretty, I don’t think they have changed much on yz in awhile but do they need too the bike is just oh so good.
I went from the kx450f to a 2019 yz250x also! So much fun to ride!
Got my first 250 smoker in 07, was a yz, first of the aluminium frame I think it was. Still got the bike now 12 years later. Love it.
I love the sounds of all 250 2 strokes, and the sound always reminds me of Ronnie mac

I LOVE TWO STROKES!!!!! They sound so good!!!
You look at home on that thing, should buy one
I’m thinking about it!
Zach Davis do it, it seems to fit you perfectly
@@zachdavis3974 do you prefer it over the yz125?
@@zachdavis3974 yeah do it Zach . I'm 45 old raced and road nothing but 2strokes including 2 rgv's and itching for a new 19 yz125 cos i have to slow to many injuries now otherwise would go a 250. Nice beast eh
Thanks for sharing great vid mate . I'll Sub and watch your other vid's.
My first 250 was a CR250 because I got a great deal on it used. One of my friends got a YZ250 and when I rode that thing I was done with that head shaky CR. I sold the Honda and bought two YZ250s within the next year. I loved it so much I had to have two at the same time lol.
I just bought a brand new 2019 last month loving the new 2stroke
I grew up on 2 strokes and love the abrupt power of the 250. I bought a new 4 stroke and got rid of it because the maintenance which is a pain in the ass.
Really, dude? I love the 2 Strokes, and people says the 2 cycle oil is expensive, but I prefer to buy oil and get a little bit cheaper maintenance
Yeah, a top end rebuild on a 2 stroke costs about 1/4 the cost of a 4 stroke.......
Yeah way too many moving parts for anyone that’s gonna do self maintenance unless you like to work on them a lot ha
Idk my 2 stroke was a pain in the ass always getting something clogged up in that carb but I still wouldn't trade it for a 4 stroke
Your warm up lap was fast as hell! Nice riding!
Boy that brings back some memories, course back in my day those bikes weren't quite as advanced as they are now. I remember when the mono shock was the newest thing , Wish I was a kid again !
To all those questioning the jetting of the bikes. They are left in crate setup, which is left in a base jet setting for all environments. It's rarely correct out of the box. Jason, who does these demo days runs the event, does bike maintenance, packs the bikes, travels, and orders parts for the bikes all on his own. Not to mention he does all of this before every single weekend during demo season. This same YZ250 I rode at another event was jetted perfect for that elevation and humidity. I was blown away by how smooth and crisp it ran. All that aside this guy rips on it still with incorrect jetting. Testament to the rider and the bike right there. #blucru
She does sound a tad blubbery on the bottom. Jason is an incredible guy, I used to hang out with him when he raced GNCC's and national harescrambles.
The camera's microphone is in FRONT of the silencer. So, it's not 'hearing' the true sound out the pipe. Enough said. This bike is jetted fine. (I have three of them)
You ripped it dawg. I just made the switch from Honda to Kawi, Can't believe how much better the KX450F felt straight off the showroom floor compared to any bike I've ever ridden, even after spending some dough $ and setting them up. Wish I would have made the switch to KX a long time ago. No slop anywhere on the bike, it's such a beast!
Sounds good. I can smell the 2-stroke oil through the vid!
This made me miss my old CR250 so bad. Great video.
Gotta love a 2 stroke. Love that sound.
I have a 2018 and absolutely love it. Bike hauls ass right out of the crate. Few mods and it can really haul bigger ass
1988-2019 YAMAHA YZ series. Always great on every range of that powerband. Torque and brisk quickness. Extremely nimble.
2 stroke forever! Kudos to yamaha for still producing them!
But you can't find one on a dealership floor right now. I just got the last one in Michigan. I wanted new, but all I could find is a 5 hr used 2019. I paid what he wanted. Now I am paying a grand to have the damn thing lowered. Yamaha pissed off everybody under 5'10" when they followed young MXA's advise to "upgrade the chassis" to make the last 2-strokes as sky scrapper high as the big head 4-strokes. I say MXA owes me a grand. :)
I used to ride a yz250 two stroke back in the day. This brought back some good memories for me. Had to give it up due to my age i guess. Started to take too long to bounce back after a crash. My bike was white trimmed out in red. If that will give you an idea how long its been.Yamaha has been blue for a while now. Lol
just got mine today. no regrets.
Im 31 about to buy my first bike finally after all these years wanting one, hard work to get it
I have one just like it and I absolutely love it! Way more fun than a 4 stroke hands down.
cant beat the sound of the two stroke
Wow man, awesome video. Superb bike

been so long since ive felt that 2 stroke sweet spot
Not a rut in sight lol that track is so well maintained….sweet video… even though you goofed it and the engine flamed out lol
Yh track looks easy asf but fun
I saw one of these yesterday, we were out riding in the mountains on dirt, mans was ripping wheelies and Tokyo drifting around a circle pump track, he was crazy
This just tells me Yamaha CAN bring back the beloved Banshee if they chose to 😢
yoo bro gang gang
So Yamaha was there just letting people take 2 rips around the track with the new 2019 YZ2snifty's?? Thats awesome, i wish i was there that day.
yea dude the Yamaha Demo program!
Still going on to this day. (Google it)
Haven’t seen a Ride with Zach video in a minute!
Woooo! actual fresh engine,I like this bike
Sweet bro, I did the same Demo at GTR ! I loved the YZ450Fx
I had a KX 100 last year and wasn't that strong anymore and this year I bought a YZ 250 that was the most intense ride I've ever had those 250 are wicked
That's how i exactly want to switch to Yamaha with the 250 2 stroke. I grew out my KX100 and I haven't ridden in a year. Just been working and saving my sights are definitely on a 2020 yz250 and astars head to toe
Was a little worried when it was running so ratty at lower RPM... thought it needed leand out... then he opened her up and got things cleared out. DAMN ...
this thing RIPS!!! Give me THIS over a 4 banger ANY DAY!!! NOo valves to adjust... cheap to rebuild... EASY choice!!!
so awesome manufacturers all show up and let you test ride their new bikes. living on long island that stuff just don't happen. I am however relocated to Florida soon enough so hopefully my db riding options will increase a lot ...
Looks fun! Thinking about buying a yz250 as my next bike!
Yea yz250s are great out on the track, I have a 2003 that still shreds the track

At the start you were still cornering like a 4 stroke, hence the stall
Is the engine running lean or something on the midrange? Engine seem a little hesitant
i have this bike, the suspension is amazing imo
Blew me away, randomly found this video and you're at my local track
did you rent the bike, right? is it a Yamaha stand were you can rent the bike ?, I'm just curious
