  • Let's take a close look at this 'new' old purchase,... a 1974 Honda XR75. Let's see if we can get it to start.
Leon the Lobster merch can be found here. leonthelobster.myshopify.com
I'll also have a new Leon update very soon.

I am 62 now but when I was a pimply face up and coming motocross failure I remember times at Indian dunes sitting on my Yamaha 80MX watching the grown ups take these XR's sideways into the turns with the sound only a thumper can make! So much fun for them.... Nay fun for me. I always wanted one and my mom knew I wanted one so she bought me an MX 80, same thing right??? No, not even close! Thanks to CZcams I can relive memories that were not mine ;-)

I got a red 1978 XR75 when I was 9 years old. When I moved away my younger brother started riding the bike. Then our youngest brother rode the bike after him (there are three of us). When I bought my own house I went back home, got the bike and brought it with me. It didn't run anymore, the handlebars was broken and replaced with neon-green aftermarket ones. The killswitch was broken after the bike rolled over, none of the wheels points in the right direction anymore, the sadle is torn and some of the foam inside is missing and there's a bunch of other problems with it.
Stil, I love the thing but never got around to fix it. Didn't have a garage so I stored it in a shed that was everything other than weather-proof.
Now, I've bought a bigger house with a proper garage and of course the bike went with me here, I still have some other projects to take care of but then I'm gonna try to restore that bike. Guess it's gonna take more than one winter though.... :/
Great video! It's an inspiration to start working on my own bike :D

The XR75 was my first dirt bike. My Father bought me an earlier version, all grey gas tank with red racing stripes. I must have been in First Grade, I was only 5 or 6 years old. my feet couldnt reach the ground. Id slow down and he would catch me!! I can remember him yelling, SHIFT SHIFT! LOL. I rode this bike through the orange groves of central FL. until around 4th grade. I still have burn scars from laying it over and the exhaust cooked me, I was too little to get it off me. Mom and Dad split and all the bikes were gone! Thanks for the fantastic memories, I hope you get it solid again.

Early teens, my friend had the exact same year XR-75 and I had a 77' XL-75. My XL had dirt tires and all of the street legal accessories removed, so basically an XR. We lived in a rural area so we rode all of the time. I paid $200 for mine and my dad made me come up with half that cash. That took forever saving allowances, b-day, and lawn mowing money. I had to learn on my own or from my peers to do my own mechanic work. Those little bikes run forever. I can't believe how expensive they are today.

I had one in 1975 and loved it. Ran it till I outgrew it and sold it to a family friend. He kept it till it rusted out in this barn. ATTENTION Brady! You may want to distance yourself and your channel from your knife sponsor. They have been investigated and discovered to be a SCAM! Selling knives made for old K-Mart that retailed for $ 10.00 for high end cutlery. Their knives are made from lowest level Japanese steel and are made in China! Oh well thought you may want to know! Thanks for the postings and take care!

To me the term "crank" is often used to designate something that will not START. Some use the term to say that something will not "turn over" ( engine locked or broken). As one that spent years teaching courses for JOHN DEERE, the description "Won't crank" always left me asking my students this. "Do you mean it will not start or do you mean the engine is locked-up or broken?" I endeavored to get them to use a term that actually describes the problem.

I owned a 1984(?) XR80 enduro. Most reliable little bike, ever. Always would start with one or two kicks, winter included! Nice find, Brady!

Great little bike! I'm weird, I've always wanted to turn one into a featherweight GP road racer, with fairing, and the works!

Hello Brady nice find. When it comes to carburetor replacement the Chinese regime counterfeit carburetors will always let the consumer down. Bottom line they are not calibrated. Drop the money for a mikuni replacement carb for this and do the top end on it I guarantee you will be rocking. Take care buddy peace. ✌️
Oh and tell Leon hi for me. LOL

Wow , wow!!! I had one of those. The paint colors were definitely different, no green, silver /blue no side panels. It was built to to compete and beat the the Yamaha mini enduro I believe, a 2cycle , smaller but very fast bike. The xr75 was Hondas answer, it was however a 4 cycle engine. Great to see this video, thanks

That's the year model I had and everybody else had bigger dirt bikes so I had to compensate with riding skills. Dirt bikes, building tree forts we would camp out in, Creeks with springs nearby and dirt roads to ride on. Plenty of friends nearby and all-around
